What I did not like about this movie was how Thor did not exactly fight a "super" hero villain. What I mean by that is that Thor seemed to kick ass too much where ever he went without lifting a finger sometimes. That kind of killed the movie for me. (Loki, Destroyer, and Ice Giants were cool but not :O) I also did not feel that threat to earth which I think is a big audience winner for characters as loved as Thor. I also didn't like the development of the love story :/ it felt too abrupt!
@chuckb11 Of course I understand there isn't a need for a villain -.- but that peril or danger, the hero's ultimate sacrifice when needed, I did not feel. Thor just walked through the movie, fine and dandy like he owned the place. I know that is part of his disposition, but honestly I did not feel that awesomeness of wanting to wield a hammer that can control thunder storms which should have come with the neighborhood(?):P I am sure hardcore thor fans felt it but as a "commoner" I did not
Hardcore Thor fan here, I agree, but I did enjoy the movie.
They did show how powerful Thor when he fought the frosh giants, but they didn't do enough Thor action, and really didn't show off enough of his powers. I'm sure any fan of the comics saw the Destroyer armor and was expecting an epic battle, but did not get it.
So... THOR AND THE HULK BETTER MAKE UP FOR IT IN THE AVENGERS MOVIE... That better be the best fight in the film BY FAR, or I'm automatically not gonna like it
I loved this movie from start to finish. It's the most entertaining comic book movie to come out it years. I haven't had such a positive emotional reaction since the Incredibles. I've seen it twice and plan to do so again.
For me, I felt as though all elements of the film could have been better. The action wasn't as clear as I thought it would be. Moreover, Natalie Portman could have developed Jane Foster a bit better. Even the interpersonal relationship b/w Thor, Loki and Odin was cliche.
HOWEVER, though cliche, the themes still were powerful. Thor learning humility, Loki's feelings of inadequacy, Odin's wisdom and rule, I'm still thinking about them 4 days later.
Thor seemed like a big long set up for the avengers character and not so much as an individual character. Obviously a sequel is needed to really show off the character Mighty Thor, but judging by the way they did this, it seems unlikely
@djninjaturtle heck she was so unfunny. The only worthwhile line of script was "Primitive cultures such as the vikings mayhave worshipped them as gods." which is a conclusion either Dr Solveig or Jane Foster could have reached. She was a stupid character to have. They could have saved millions cutting her out and given Heimdall more action or even made the final battle a bit better with more energy beams, magic blasts and lightning. Last fight was too short for my tastes.
@JosephDanielsTC7R NOOO that's why this movie was good And surprising . The fish out of water /alien visitor movies are all the same, guy walking around picking fights with cars, being amazed by plumbing or television etc, etc,
that was really my worry going in, the humor was there but stayed away from being silly,
when fantasy movies go to modern earth its usually because the budget is cut(Star trek 4,)

as a 38 yrold comic nerd, i thought THOR was worth seeing on the big screen.
I dont think it was "mindblowingly awsome" though. NOT at all. cant say it was great eitehr. It was just a good movie.
For children of the 1980s-- didnt this movie remind you of 1987s MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE??? am i alone on this?
THOR was good but the earth stuff was pretty boring / corny.

@quackingchurro That is cause he is mighty.

@quackingchurro Not every superhero movie needs a supervillain. Thor didn't start off facing supervillains. This was an origin story. Learn to comic.

@JDezi4 that is exactly what I am anticipating >:] hulk vs. thor is an epic match up!
*face palm* You are totally right about the frost giants. I did forget about them but they didn't seem so strong in the beginning lol.

Loved the review; really enjoyed the movie; not a fan of this interpretation of Loki. This film really deserves a sequel.

@mcinnisboy Have you read Loki or watched Thor & Loki; Blood Brothers? That's a Loki that doesn't let you down!
