Too much play in the bearing system. This amount of play may lead to bidding when a moment is applied or when used with a cantilever load. Normal bearing clearance is about .001" in linear applications. This video shows that the bearing system is actuall very sloppy on the bar stock.
Yes, this was intentional - the linear translation of the bar is only part of its intended function. there is also considerable torque applied at different moments during its linear movement, this causes binding when there is not enough clearance. In addition, there is far less friction applied to the shaft during 90% of its cycle- when it only rides on 1 or 2 of the 4 bearings. I will soon post a video of the device in which this bearing has been applied on my channell.
