  • you look very pretty and i love your hair...i did my bc chop on sep 5th...and im getting used to it

  • you have a really cool accent :)

  • your hair is so darn pretty!!!!

  • Im also in Toronto. Where do you buy your products??? I really need your help. stuff like eco styler and miss jessies ect. thanks so much.

  • @ladysoloist You should be able to buy Eco styler at any of the black hair supply stores in Toronto. As for Miss Jessie's and any other products made specifically for afro/curly hair, check out Honey Fig. They're located at 4967 Yonge Street (3 blocks north of Sheppard on Yonge).

  • @ebonycutie84

Thanks for your reply. i really appreciate it. I got my miss jessy @ honeyfig but it left residue in my hair. I havent been able to find the eco styler can you recommend anywhere in the GTA where you know for sure they sell it? Lots of thanks hun!

  • @ladysoloist Try Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I noticed a residue on my hair as well when I used Miss Jessie's after a while but with the KCCC as long as you don't use too much there shouldn't be a residue. As for the Eco Styler, Try Discount Beauty Supply near Eglinton West and Oakwood or Google Beauty Supply Warehouse for their locations.

  • @ebonycutie84 Thanks so much again. I have one not too far from me. I'll check it out. Peace sis.

  • i have done the BC 3 times as well. I actually love my hair really short or really long. It looks great on you!

  • you go girl rock it your truly beautiful

  • Stay strong sis, you're absolutely beautiful! I love the look on you. I've been natural for going on 2 years and I love it. Yes, I have gotten frustrated as it started growing out and you may too, but hang in there. There are ALOT of sisters on youtube and fotki that are giving great advice on what products to try and hairstyles you can wear as you go through the various growth stages.

  • LOveeee ur Vid girl ....what you said is soooo true

  • where are you from?

  • @oloveli09 I'm from Toronto, Canada. :)

...My background is Trini and Jamaican though. I'm assuming you're referring to my "accent"?

  • @ebonycutie84 yeah sorry lol

  • @oloveli09 It's cool, you're not the first one to ask. hehe

  • @ebonycutie84 really?? its probably because im from the bahamas .. we pick up on those Caribbean aaccents =]

  • Love your hair!! and cute earrings :D

  • You go SIS!!

  • So are you still Natural? Can't wait to see your hair now! The Big Chop looks good on you. Take care!

  • Softer healty and PRITTY!

.....'Youre hair is like a canvas...express yourself'.....

  • im confused on your accent...whr u frm?

  • you hair is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WELCOME to the natural community.

    smiles:shontaeale

  • i have been transitioning for 3 months now , my hair was half down my back relaxed! I am getting nervous cuz it's breaking so bad! I work in the medical field and i KNOW folks are going to be looking at me like i am crazy but i need to do this for me, i am how ever trying to avoid the big chop! my head is too big lol, no but i am a lil heavyset and don't think i would like right with short hair,,, hummm Good luck1 You look wonderful!

  • Congratulations! You look fabulous! Now you gotta make a daily routine vid!

  • You can do it mama!!!

  • So when do we get an update since your chop?

  • it looks great I just want to run my hands through it

  • Don't go back to the creamy crack!!!

  • @sherrogirl Girl, The new creamy crack is curl activators, gels, & conditioner I see people shelling out money left and right trying bring out their "curl pattern". Yep, the new creamy crack is Kinky Curly, Curly pudding, etc and they are more expensive than a box of Dark & Lovely. I see people raving over the new crack and using it much more often. Look around your countertops. Are they filled with containers that say gel, cream, conditioning...Let's not fool ourselves. We still on crack--lol

  • @WhereYaBoss You make a very good point. Seems like we're still not fully accepting of the natural state of our hair - meaning some of us have naturally non-curly, non-shiny hair and we should be fine with our natural texture - whatever form it takes.

  • VERY CUTE!!!

  • You look great!!! You should definitely stick w/ it.

  • LOVE IT! Congrats!

  • nice hair cut.

  • Your hair is lovely

  • yu sound like yu have aye accent

  • My 3rd time around natural after 3yrs natural.I hope I dont go back

  • You look absolutely stunning with the TWA you better update us on your progress it's been a couple of months since you did this video. What's up with the hair mama, WE want to know. =)

  • LOL! Ok ok... I will give you guys an update. Right now it's in cornrows so you won't be able to see the length. When I take it out I'll def have to do one. Im procrastinating!! I'm sorry!

  • Okay I'll take that lol I know what you mean though that's why I no longer do videos too lazy haha

  • Hott look!

  • Very much like my big chop!!

  • Love your whole ensemble!!. congrats and look forward to seeing your journey*

  • OK IM NEW...BUT HOW LONG DID U TRANSITION? sry for the caps

  • Your hair looks a lot like mine did after mu big chop. You are really rocking your afro, lovin' it!

  • Congrats on the big chop. You look gorgeous!!!

  • so now you're using the KCCC instead of miss jessies?

  • Yep, I have yet to post a review for KCCC because I have braids in my hair at the moment. (Well that, and my hair is so short that the camera doesn't really pick up the subtle differences) But I like it much better than the Miss Jessie's. Don't know if I would go back!

  • thats good to know. i was thinking about trying it. but so far every one i've asked has switched to something else and wouldnt go back lol so i think i just wont start it for now and wait til someone locally gets it then sneak a try lol

  • I'm late but Congrats love your hair!

  • Thanks for responding. I have salt and pepper colored hair and I am in need of a big chop and a life change. I want to post videos in the future (not ready, yet I'm nervous). But, your look and vibe and confidence definitely inspire me. So, THANK YOU!! PEACE...

  • hey i feel ya now cause my hair is growing out and im noticing how difficult it may be to tame it if that makes sence. Its too short to put in a pony so im trying hard to keep it looking "neat"

  • Do you detangle while washing your hair. Your hair is a 4B type and it needs to be detangle while wet or you're going to have difficulties manipulating your hair again. Trust me, I'm a 4A and I couldn't stand coming it until I realize I have to detangle it when I shampoo my hair. At least when it's dry it can be comb at ease without straining it. LOL

Well, you're a professional with natural hair and you know how to maintain it than I who's only six months. LOL

  • Hi Kimberlene! Yes, I definitely detangle my hair in the shower... I don't even try to comb my hair once it's dried. My hair is actually more of a 3C/4A hair type but it's hard to tell because it's so darn thick! But yes, once I put conditioner in my hair out comes the detangler comb!

  • You look wonderful!! And you carry this off well.and with confidence. About the middle phase, i can see a soft, yet twisted out afro. Please do not reach for that " creamy crack"!

    Stay Strong!!

  • Thanks girl! I'm trying, I really am. I did a twist out a few weeks back and I actually had less definition compared to when I just put some KCCC on my wet hair, go figure. I'll try again once my hair gets longer.

  • Girl this a beautiful look on you..Rock it to the fullest!

  • Congratulations! Looks good!

  • Fierce Sistah! I'm going to be doing mine some time (just don't know when lol). Love your earrings too! :o)

  • LOL! Dooo iiiit!! Better to do it in the summer so you have a decent amount of hair by winter. I got those earrings at Aldo, don't know if they still have them but check them out! They have some nice accessories.

  • girl ur look so cute with ur twa....it's perfect for ur face

good luck with u and ur natural hair journey!!!

  • very cutte congrads! welcome to the natural world

  • iT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE AN ACCENT LIKE YOU ARE FROM AN ISLAND.

  • Yep! Half Trini/half Jamaican. You're good!

  • My step dad and his son are from Spanish Town, Jamaica, so I have an ear for it.

  • Nice! Dad's from Port Antonio, Jamaica and moms from Scarborough, Tobago.

  • my daughter is also

  • Same mix? I'm finding more and more Trini/Jamaican babies out there! I thought I was alone. lol

  • TRINI YAY!! I did my big chop too girl. Trying to find products to use in Trinidad...it ain't easy...trying to use the IC hair polishing styling gel, it's the best I can get down here before I get a chance to order some online

  • Girl I know the feeling! I lived in Tobago for 5 years. IC hair polishing gel should do the trick, but I hear the new formulation isn't as good as the old one. You'll have to experiment and find what works for you. I know the local brands that they sell in the drug stores in T&T are VERY drying, so I would suggest that you avoid those. But other than that see what works... also try some of the oils they have down there.

  • i hope that u continue ur natural journey. our hair is so versatile and beautiful. stick with it!

  • honestly...you have to learn patience and how to style your own hair. take the time out for you hair. I dont really agree that being natural is low maint honestly its more maint thant being permed which is why alot of people go back to perms but i know this time you wont

  • I guess it's still low maint for me because it's so short. I know it won't be so easy once it grows out though! lol But right now it's pretty wash and wear... I just detangle it in the shower with some conditioner and then I run some KCCC through it and let it air dry. It's a bit longer now, so sometimes I'll put a headband on. Pretty straight forward.

  • What's KCCC?

  • Kinky Curly Curling Custard - it's an organic line of curl products.

  • You look beautiful! Congrats on your bc! Be Blessed and encouraged! :)

  • Congrats! It looks good on you

  • your fro is too cute!

  • It looks really pretty like this.

  • congrats beautiful

  • ..hey your hair looks great on you..what products do you use and are they natural?..

  • Thank you! :) I use Miss Jessie's products on my hair for styling. I believe her products are vegan if I'm not mistaken.

  • OMG..

    Just gorgeous.

    This natural movement is great.

You're in your natural element now...

    NO LYE..:)

  • LOOKS real good on you. Congrats. to you.

  • you look like Pam Grier back in the days lol

  • Really?! Tight work! lol

  • Congrats!

  • I know thats right.....i hadnt even thought about it until you said something... I used to have SO much hair on my bathroom floor. Now, I hardly ever find a strand

  • Yep, it was ridiculous. It's such a relief to be able to keep my hair on my head instead of on the floor.
