You know what? I was thinking more about your comment and God does give us some wants to. When I give to someone I don't just take care of their needs only, I also look at what they would like or want- what blesses them. When you look for a gift, it isn't just what someone needs.
I guess that is news to me because God has always taken care of my needs. AND He has surprised me on many occasion with something that I wanted. God gave me a horse when I was a kid. I didn't NEED that, but God used that horse to minister to me and ultimately to thousands of people. I also have other things that He gave me that I enjoy like a boat. I enjoy that boat with my family and with the nature God created. It is a special blessing to me and I bless others with it.
God is a God of abundance and He delights in blessing His children. Just Paul said that he counted even "good things" as loss to gain the knowledge of God. I obviously didnt explain myself properly 10months ago. It is biblical to be blessed. God gives us all things to enjoy. But one day all temporal things will go. Like Paul we should focus on the unseen and live simple lives giving as much as we can away to the needy. Poverty spirit?! You involved in deliverance teaching? May God bless you.
Prosperity in relationship with God, health, family, finances, friendships, giving to others in need, making good decisions, being able to provide for the needs of your family, seeing good fruit come from your labors and business, seeing people saved, etc. We are not focused on material goods.
God provides our needs not our wants. Do we really need big houses, swimmin pools, great cars, jumbo jets, etc when Gods people in other countries starve to death? Jesus said in revelation you are rich, increased with goods and have need for nothing when really you are blind, naked, wretched and poor! I believe money isnt evil but prosperity doctrine is. Jesus was born in a stable. Disciples recieved a hundredfold then gave it all away. Old test - outward blessing, new test -inward. God bless u.
I don't think we are arguing the point that people can get excessive. But you also need to look at the other big picture that the wealthy do give a lot and they do help keep our economy going. Of course, I agree with being content in all things. I also agree and have OFTEN though as you about the poor of the earth (that as Jesus said we will always have.) No one should feel guilt for being blessed, instead they should give and enjoy the fruit of their labor (if attained rightly) without sorrow.
We are not preaching the typical "Prosperity" message so I hope you can get that. I think we are pretty balanced about it. But I think you are way on the other end of NO blessing. I feel sad for you because I think God may want to bless you with somethings that you refuse. Is it entirely possible that you may be hooked up with a poverty spirit? Not sure, but maybe. It is worth examining.
Money and things are tools and that's all. What good is money or things if you are not saved? What good is material gain if you don't have health and loving support from good friends and a family that cares about you. God blesses in many ways.
It is the LOVE of money and things that is the root of all kinds of evil. NOT having money or things. It is important to have right priorities and right focus in life. It is okay to be wealthy and to prosper. It is better to have your needs met than to suffer from poverty. We should all work to eliminate poverty of mind, spirit, and body.
Living life is not about fulfilling WANTS, but seeking the kingdom of God first. Then, your NEEDS shall be met. "My God will use his wonderful riches in Christ Jesus to give you everything you need." Philippians 4:19
"Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in His ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." Psalm 128:1,2 NIV
"...as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God." Ecclesiastes 5:19
God is NOT a "genie in the sky" to whom we make demands. Whining and complaining bring destruction. The Apostle Paul says to be content in all things. We know to put our trust in God and God alone. We should live with THANKFULNESS on our lips and in our hearts! There are MANY benefits to serving the Lord and knowing Him is the greatest reward.
The Lord Will Provide... because you have obeyed... Genesis 22:14-18 & To those mentioned in Scripture who did not do good received a curse "Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things; therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord shall send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things..." Deuteronomy 28:47-48abc - Poverty is a curse.

Very good. I hope he means spiritual prosperity and not material prosperity though.
