  • Thanks for uploading, Very helpful to manage my stress.

  • thanks

  • I was listening to that music when I was a young boy to be able to fall asleep

  • I also wonder why everything Vedic has to be re-branded as Maharishi this and Maharishi that. There are many living masters and Maharishi was one that succeeded communicating the 'TM-technique' - a very old technique - to many people in the West. But it's still the same Sanatana Dharma. :-)

  • @garsett Thanks.

It is Maharishi's merit that we are blessed today with a type of meditation - Transcendental Meditation - which really works and its effects are scientifically proven. And yes, Maharishi has re-enlivened many aspects of the Vedic literature, as Sthapatya Veda, Gandharva Veda, Ayurveda. Therefore, to honour him, to remember him and to keep the knowledge pure we add his name.

  • @garsett Both Vedic and Maharishi are thoughts in your mind. Even Sanatana Dharma is a thought!

Once you REALLY, REALLY get this; you are free!!! Bless you my child!

  • thanks!!!

  • the yaman interpretation from Reshma is awesome, really, but I agree with metaemipricus: it´s hindustani music, and the etawah gharana or similiar classic schools are including the theory about the sound of the nature at the right prahara, too. why should a serious musician need an holy man with white beard, to play indian classic music?

  • Part 1

    For @thelenious

    Dear friend of Hindusthani Music,

There is no need to have a spiritual advisor to play Hindusthani Music but when you are playing Music which is 100 % in tune with the Cosmic Intelligence then it is good to have a Sat-Guru.

Such a Master like Maharishi was & ever is acts 24 hours a day till eternity 200 % in harmony with Nature.

  • Part 2

Music played under such a direction like Maharishi transforms Hindusthani Music into Gandharva Veda Music (the Music of nature itself)!

The Time value is so important & it is not right to play a Raga which one likes to be heard; it is proper to perform a Raga for that special time value at that time.

Also the musicians prepare themselves with good spiritual methods like Transcendental Meditation to float in the Value of the Absolute so that the Audience comes in tune with the Absolute

  • @thelenious Thanks for your comment. "why should a serious musician need an holy man with white beard, to play indian classic music?". He does not need to of course. However the title and label Maharishi Gandharva Veda refers to and honors His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who has revived this wonderful music. WIthout him many people in the world would have never heard about Gandharva music and its marvelous effects on mind, body, and environment.

  • This is Hindustani music which has been repackaged as Gandharva music.

  • So called "Hindusthan" Music which is played in tune with Time & Space & in a pure mood is Gandharva Veda Music & when it is blessed by Maharishi it is Maharishi Gandharva Veda Music!

  • uhmm excuse me but I just wanna ask what TV channel was Maharishi aired on i remeber watching it as a kid on TV and i was in awe...

    pls. does anybody know?

  • The Maharishi Channel via Satellite.

  • I play the "rain melody" if I wake up during the night and I always fall straight back to sleep! Thank you sharing this very informative video.

  • Beautiful, Thank you for posting this video. Vedic music is beautiful because it is meant to glorify the Supreme Lord. The most amazing music is usually played as a prayer and not performed for the general public or as performance.

  • Vedic music isn't the only music able to heal people and feel comfortable. Its overated, just indian music that's all... Its nothing more special than other music out there.

  • You can listen to anything, of course. There is free choice naturally.

Some experts call this music North Indian Classical music or Hindustani music. We prefer the traditional term Gandharva. It is very ancient music and the good effects have been recorded since ages.

  • I've nothing against this music, its really beautiful, just so I´ve said it :P

But don't you think all kind of music could heal? Theoretically it could if it hits the same notes and frequencies as this music...?

  • Thanks for your appreciation!

There may be other cultures which cherish music of similar capacity.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi once stated, all music essentially is Gandharva music, since everything is an expression of Natural Law. It may be distorted sometimes, but in its purest form it can be called Gandharva music as we know it.

  • Gandharva masters have been studying with their teachers for many years, actually it is their whole life's focus.

According to tradition, Gandharva music is not manmade originally. The Rishis, the seers of ancient times, were able to cognize the frequencies of Natural Law within their own least excited state of consciousness. With this music, man has a tool to keep his/her life and the environment in tune with Natural Law, to stay healthy and to be successful on all levels of life.

  • Okey. Interesting!

But could one learn how to make this kind of music and perhaps use different kinds of instruments? If it hits the same frequencies it wouldn't really matter would it?

  • Yes, one can learn it. But it needs a very good teacher and many years. Other instruments than the traditional ones? Could be possible if they fulfill the requirements.

  • The easiest and quickest way to gain practical insight into Gandharva music and its direct effects on the practitioner and the environment, would be to take a seminar in Vocal Gandharva music.

  • спасибо :-)

  • Excellent.

  • greetings from Jozef! All the best

  • JAI GURU DEV MAHARISHI

  • Yes, rain-Raga. Soothing and very relaxing. It always fills me up with energy, as if I were asleep =)

  • The rain-Raga from Amar Nath-jie is so soothing!

    Jai Guru Dev

Maharishi Gandharva Veda is the Sound of Mother Naure indeed!
