  • just buy a colt barrel for it. the series 70 barrel would be what you want. should drop right in. i bought one directly from colt and it dropped right into my gun, no fitting.

  • I haven't seen this on the Springfield Site and am curious if it isn't being made in the GI model 1911 A-1?

  • You wanna sell that one?

  • This is a great gun. i have one. i talked to a rep from springfiled. they are not making this gun anymore.

  • 550? ohshit

  • dude where did you find that for $550? i live in MI and everywhere i look they want damn near a fuckin grand for it. im lookin fo my first handgun and i know that the 1911 is without contest the best place to start. with the GI model being the simplist. plus to be honest im a bit of a gun nut and you eally cant call youself a collector without a 1911 can you?

  • can you replace those sights with nicer ones?

  • @MrUSA96 you'd have to send it out to Springfield or have a gunsmith dovetail the slide to put different sights on it.

  • haha pepper jack cheese isnt hot.

  • Glad to hear a great review for this one, this is the 1911 I want to get in a few months when I finally turn 21

  • Im not a "safety Ranger" , B U T........

  • What CHU GOT IN DA GLASS BROTHERRRRRR! hahahahah

  • About a year ago i sold my Springfield GI (OD Green)...I was so pissed about it. Today I picked on up because my local Gun Shop had a 40%off sale. Could not pass up that deal. I LOVE it.

  • This video and the ones by chromefreak123 are the whole reason that I bought one of these!

  • How do you find the durability of the parkerized finish compared to the Colt bluing?

  • its 2011 and i want my first 1911... i am so getting this. i love how it looks just like what was issued 100 years ago.

  • hey man i like ur vids but i hate when ya cuss. but great vids otherwise

  • DO YOU ALWAYS REPLY TO PEOPLE IN CAPS LOCK?

  • @misterRICHOCHET only when im lazy. and i was LAZY

  • can u upgrade the sights

  • Hey Pete. How does the parkerized finish hold up compared to other finishes?

  • Hey Pete. How does the parkerized finish hold up compared to other finishes?

  • i swear a springfield m1 garand would pair up so great with that springfield gi.

  • is it inox under the paint?

  • Don't get me wrong, you are one of the manliest youtubers I watch, but pepperjack cheese is not spicy/hot at all haha

  • holy shit you look like julian from the trailer park boys

  • First of all, that's Parkerized carbon-steel. Secondly, you're handling the gun like an idiot and teaching people awful/unsafe habits. Finally, the Springfield GI Mil-Spec 1911-A1 is not an actual USGI .45. In fact, any M1911 enthusiast can spot the differences upon a closer look. A good gun? Absolutely. An ignorant review? Absolutely. Also, I have to say you sound half drunk and doing a review about guns, while handling guns intoxicated, makes you look even more ridiculous.

  • @Ebortion

You fag ass communist hippie.....who gives a shit. It is every ones American right to get fucked up and play with guns...and if we shoot our dick of....oh well. You fuckin nerd... we could give a shit less if it's actually a dildo....and any Transvestite enthusiast can spot the differences....fuckin meat gazer. Get a life, get a clue....get laid.

  • 5:08 lol scared me a bit there

  • OK info on the gun but the language is ridiculous.

  • @rebuilt93 dont be a pussy

  • @nooneshere420 hahaha LMAO, your right what a little pussy bitch @rebuilt93

  • Thanks for the great fucking video. You must be Italian.A 1911 Springfield will be my next hand gun purchase.I only have a snub nose Ruger SP101 which is a 357 magnum revolver. That's for home defense. In California the commies don't like people using assault rifles.I dont care but thats how it is here.

  • @sksman71 So... AR15s and M1A and all that sorts of rifles ain't legal in LA?

  • @1stMarineCapt L.A sucks.I should cut their water supply LOL. Well i dont know L.A.'s dumb anti gun laws.I am putting my AR-15 together and it's legal.

  • @1stMarineCapt I know this is kind of old and this may be kind of dumb, if your talking about Los Angeles CA then both of those are legal under strict circumstances. I just looked at some ARs for the hell of it and to get it with a detachable magazine it has to have a special mag release where you need a pen or nail or some other similar object to push a button within the lower or something. It's kind of weird and stupid but then again so are most of CAs gun control laws.

  • @rockstar212121 Bullet button mag release you meant. Yeah that's strict, but I think it is somewaht adaptable, though. Thanks for the info.

    PS adaptable with me.

  • Hey Pete! I live in canada do they still cost around 530 here? i would be looking to upgrade the grips to something custom...how much are the grips usually?

  • Finally, you don't just swap out the barrels! Swapping barrels is EXTREMELY difficult for even a pistolsmith! It requires adjustment of the barrel link and possible machining of the inside of the frame and slide to adjust the barrel to cycle properly without hitting the slide or slamming too hard on the frame! This is usually NOT OBVIOUS! You won't feel any of that happen just by hand cycling. You must take measurements of the clearances and machine very carefully! Leave it alone!

  • This guy is dangerous! He doesn't know much about his weapon, despite his ridiculous monotone lecture, and his "safety check" is dangerous. This guy shouldn't touch a firearm until he is trained by someone knowledgeable. He's an accident waiting to happen, especially with his willy-nilly cocking of the m1911...a very powerful weapon with not much forgiveness for stupidity and foolhardiness! That's especially true for the non series 80 version, like the SA GI!

  • WHAT THE HELL? Take off the "color". It's a parkerized finish. It's over the steel as for corrosion protection! It's not stainless steel. Coating stainless steel would be absurd!! Also, your "safety check" is dangerous on this weapon. You don't pull the hammer back or cock it before pulling back the slide to observe the chamber! You may lose grip and drop the hammer to fire a potential round! Yes, there is a half-cock safety, but you may not engage it before you lose grip, and it can fail!

  • Gee, I tuned in because I wanted to hear some comments on the gun, but instead there's an angry gargoyle spewing profanity. So I had no choice but to shut it down right away.:-(

  • Disregard. I watched your other video on 1911s and you answered my question. Its a January miracle

  • I just sub'd. I like your style. After having all those guns, would you rate this one as reliable as a colt or kimber? I know your a big wig in youtubeland but a simple yes or now will suffice. Thanks

  • Just buy a stainless barrel and swap them out a keep the value of the gun.

  • that blueing isn't there for camouflage its there to resist rust, i'd keep it there.

  • Wow, you cant even SEE the video for all the foul language. What a mouth big man.

  • Excellent design. Not sure how similar ours are but I own an Auto Ordnance made 1911 circa 1943. Old gun but I can still put a tight group at a decent distance. Only problem I've ever had is that it doesn't always eject properly and I'll have brass get stuck.

  • Im getting one of these with the Christmas money in January, is there anything i should look out for when getting this paticular model?

  • I purchased a SA 1911 GI a while back and it had to go back to SA, It was jamming. Got it back 2 weeks later and its been perfect since. I Just got a Stainless Steel version for 380 bucks.. I had planned on getting a Kimber Custom II, But I couldn't pass it up. If you enjoy 1911s, I GUARANTEE you would love the CZ75b Single Action. It holds like a 1911 and the trigger is just as nice. Have a review of it if interested. I shoot in PA a lot. Keep up the good work and keep making awesome videos!

  • Dude, you're real, honest and an asshole. That's why I trust you. Ever deal with an asshole on youtube called millerusaf? He's a cunt.

  • Great vidz u know your shit just subscribed u man .

  • So guys, my SA gi seems to be loose...ive only shot about 150 rounds through it...its not real bad, just a little play which seems to be towards the end of the barrel? Is this normal? I heard it gives it better tolerance with dirt, mud, etc...but I fee like it should be solid...help me out

  • A stupid question do you own SAKOs or TIKKA rifles

  • What do you think of the para gi expert 1911?

  • I think certain manufacturers still make blued barrels with stainless chambers. Be careful with stripping your chamber, my buddy did that with his RIA & it started to rust. I know a SA isn't the same as a RIA but there most likely won't be any corrosion resistance below the finish.

  • I think the barrel looks better black, shiny parts look best on polished blued guns

  • $479.78 brand new (not inculding tax)

  • the springfield mag that came with mine sucked too. ftf almost every 2 or 3 rounds.

  • why did you get rid of it in the first place ,seems like you only keep a gun for a few weeks before you get rid of it

  • Good review...........any plans on getting a new HK? I just got the USP Elite in .45 acp. awesome gun.

  • are these still reliable as a higher end 1911?

  • @TheARMORYchannel thanks for the review bro! I'm totally sold on the gun going to go pic one up, u have the best review videos I've seen on YouTube keep it up man!!

  • @SOFSEC1 YEAH ABOUT 530.00

  • @theARMORYchannel Pete, thank you for your videos. Would oyu do a video on how to properly change out the mainspring housing on a 1911?? it seems to be a common part that is changed out and perhaps other people would like to see. Thank you.

  • @theARMORYchannel where can i get one online available?

  • @theARMORYchannel Buds has them for $514 but there not currently in stock.

  • can't you fucking stop fucking staying the word fuck. You fucking fuck fucker.

  • @eastofakron1 NO I FUCKEN CANT. WHY CANT FUCKEN YOU!!

  • @theARMORYchannel Fuck is my favorite curse word.

  • @theARMORYchannel Ive got the loaded 1911 same gun. It shoots low 6 inches, and doesnt load hollow points. 6 in the mag goes ok but when you load 7 it doesnt chamber the first. What do you think??

  • @theARMORYchannel - I think you spelled it wrong ^

  • hey man iv been wachen all ur vids on glocks and 1911 whats better for concelled

  • I've been considering that same model , really like the classic look of the old 1911's.

If I were you , I wouldnt attempt to polish that barrel , my $ .02.

Get another and modify it all you want ,

  • nice video love the 1911, thanks for showing the different comparisons size i didnt know the differences

  • I'm picking up mine today! Quite happy...... It's a vicious cycle.

  • l got it for new 540 no tax.

  • im considering bying a 1911 and it will be my first time bying a pistol an i really like 1911s and have considered the springfield or rock island armory 1911. im curious as to no what your opinion is on the rock island because i have heard they are very good pistols. appreciate it if you get back to me thanks

  • fn scumbags you talkin about canadians

  • fna bro just got one,

  • have you seen the new Remington? Going to by it real soon. R1 1911---seriously awesome 1911. Recommend you pick one up I hear great things.

  • u should have got the stainless steel model

  • I really want to get this gun. Im a little weary of a 1911 under 600. Is this thing reliable? Seems like an awesome gun. Stuck between this and the Ruger gp100

  • I just got me a brand new stainless 45 1911 and love it ...Paid $640 brand new and it is my first pistol i ever bought ...I hope i did right ....keep your good videos comin my new friend

  • Pete, do you have any opinion on the Hi-cap Springfield 1911?

I held one and really like how it fits my hand but wonder why

it has not seemed to catch on.

  • I really like the reviews....they are very helpful when deciding to purchase a new weapon! Just wondering......What is your take on Para Ord??? Thanks for the reviews, I know it has got to eat up your personal time!

  • Is there one springfield 1911 gi review that isnt done by a complete retard!!!

  • what makes it so you can dry fire it

  • Im new to handguns, and this is the first gun id like to get. why can you dry fire it without a problem?

  • I've shot one of the original original ones that was issued during the war, and it was great. My girlfriends dad has it, and boy o boy it's a great gun. I agree that the low-profile sights are hard to use, but they're not totally impossible. Im looking forward to seeing how new metal stacks up to the 1942-built one I shot.

  • awsome review!

  • how do you feel about the lack of a guide rod under the barrel on that model?

  • Yeah that fucking Pepper Jack cheese alright .....

  • I Absolutely Fucking love that gun thanks for the recomendation for that 1911 i fell in love with the OD green one i got and sometime i will do another range vid and will be using fresh ammo.

  • The reason the barrel or the other parts don't come in stainless is to keep it's WW2 authenticity.

  • great vid thanks !!!!

  • I need some mags for my gi 45 that DON'T suck... any suggestions?

  • @guitarbum722 kimpro tac mags

  • @guitarbum722 chip mcCormick, and wilson combat tend to get the best reviews

  • I am looking for a 1911 GI model pistol, but I don't want one made in a foreign country, I want a 1911 made in USA. So what companies make 1911s in the U.S.?

  • @Alexn1067 Colt, Kimber...various custom ones like ed brown, wilson, i cant remember who else

  • Pete, i have been watching your vids for days. Respect to all your gun knowledge, i have learned SO much from watching your videos. Keep up the no B.S. style, your language makes the vids 10x better than they already are! Haha. Also, as i am interested in getting a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911, your vids are priceless watching material. Thanks again!! I will have to PM you for a T-shirt if your still doing orders.

  • Dude love your vids man no bullshit kinda stuff man, and you look exactly like julian from trailer park boys!!

  • Hey Pete, Thanks for all the GI videos. I just bought mine in early Feb (OD green version, the black wasn't available) your videos have been a big help with this gun. Just took it to the range last night for the 1st time and I love it more then my GLOCK 17 RTF..Go figure. Anyway thanks and keep the videos coming

  • is yours the od green or black one? which do you like better? and lastly did you buy yours new in the box?

  • This is one of the best reviews I have ever seen on youtube...this guy doesn't try to be all professional or anything. He keeps it real, doesn't bullshit you, and tells you what he thinks. I appreciate the good review.

  • Would you rather carry the 1911 or the XD for conceal carry? I carry the xd right now but thinking about getting a 1911.

  • @Springfieldguy25 A 1911 is thinner than an XD so it could be easier for you to conceal carry it. Although it holds fewer rounds, they're .45 ACP so how many do you really need?

  • @Springfieldguy25 i carried an XD for a year, sold it for a mil-spec 1911, ive carried it about a year now, its about the same, took some getting used to carrying cocked and locked, i just shoot 1911's better, neither is particularly comfortable to carry

  • im getting this exact same model can u change the sights

  • @mario18761 a gunsmith can. but thats the onlything i dont like about the GI is the fixed sights...the milspec costs more, but has vizable sights....

  • fuckin pepperjack cheese

  • Dude, you are hilarious! A fine fellow Dago, I say :)

  • buy the stainless barrel and cold blue the no exposed part

  • Does the mag that comes with it jam or something?

  • Nice review. I'd like to have a stainless GI model. Don't sand off the coating on the part of the barrel visible through the port! Just leave the factory coating so you don't wind up with rust spots if the gun stays outside of a controlled environment for too long.

Also, as this guy points out, the flared ejection port has become standard on most 1911's, but these old GI guns throw brass just as well. It's just more prone to denting on the way out, which is only an issue if you reload brass.

  • .........Or you could of bought another model for a few dollars more with those stainless features . Doesn't the paper route pay enough ? .... Don't be cheap and be unhappy in the end Ha ha ha ha ha !

  • Can you guys recomend a good online store to get this 1911 from.

  • I like this guy. He tells it like it is. LOL

  • Good vid. I was debating between a taurus and springfield and i have made up my mind to go with the springfield GI

  • i think ill go get one tomorrow

  • Couldn't you polish that part and if it

didn't turn out well get a replacement

in black? Might be expensive though.

I don't know much bout guns so...

  • Hey Pete - James here. I know you sold this GI model and replaced it with the Colt. But do you remember how well it shot and in general performed? I'd appreciate your comments if you remember who it performed. I'm thinking about getting the GI Model. Thanks. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • @gladiesclark James once you get use to the sights its just as accurate as my colt. its exellent

  • @gladiesclark I would suggest this 1911 to anyone. It's a tank and costs half as much. It bucks like any 45 should :)

  • I have a Smith & Wesson 1911 that I bought last year. I like it a lot. God bless the 1911.

Do you have any opinions on the Smith & Wesson version of the 1911?

  • Thanks for the video review, I like your no nonsense style. Definitely going to pick this piece up.

  • i agree they are the most bang for your buck,a very fine hand gun.the sights are diffucult.they have a six o'clock sight post so insted of holding right on your target hold right below and you will hit dead center.after u figgeer them out they are very acurate.i have hit milk jugs at 80 yards with my 5"and my4" as well

  • it is the number one handgun

  • you shouldnt handle firearms when youre drunk sir

  • im not drunk dumbass!!!

  • @theARMORYchannel HAHA funny guy.

  • hes just funny dude

  • @LuchadoreBob why the hell do you think hes drunk?

  • @LuchadoreBob i loled.

  • its a fine gun, i love the parkerized with ss accents. barrel, bushing , safety hammer and gs.. looks awesome.

  • Don't ruin your barrel, just buy a stainless steel barrel, I did, I looks great and preforms better with the accuracy, (match grade).

  • @Marine052191 YEAH and if you ever murder someone use the old barrlel and chuck it.

  • what's the brand of your match grade? how much and where? also do you need to custom fit it or just drop it in? thanks

  • I'm guessing you've probably put quite a few rounds through that baby by now, (Ive noticed a lot of your other vids are newer) have you experienced any kind of problems at all with the ejector or the extractor? did it ever stovepipe? also do you feel it was definitely worth the price? thanks -Nick

  • ur a cry baby whine ass

  • useless.

  • If it's parkerized it shouldn't be stainless. But I'd leave it as is.

  • beautiful gun. I like what i see.

  • Comment removed

  • wow after the first minute i am sold, you have a new subscriber, that rant about pepper-jack cheese and youtube scumbags gave me a good chuckle, thanks

  • If you shave it, I will kiss it.

  • yeah watch out that pepper-jack will get ya!

I think its a little overpriced for $550. I got mine for $500 new.

I want to take the paint of the barrel too. Mine is starting to do it naturally.

Mine is having feeding problems though and Im going to send it in. It happens to some so it seems like you are in that lucky group. Other than that the gun has been perfect. no extraction problems or anything

  • awesome, just found your new channel, your back, keep em coming!!!!!!

  • this. guy. is. awesome!!

    nice 1911 btw

  • Still about $500-550.

  • how much does it cost now

  • Question what do you mainly use your 1911 for? Do you ever carry it? Me personally mine will be a range gun or Ill just have for my collection!

  • mostly home defence and collection.never carryed it yet

  • @UNCLEISKINGPIN i use the same gi .45 as a daily carrier and i love it.

  • can you change the sights

  • Cry me a river

  • lmao dood you're funny

  • What was he drinking?

  • i was told to ask abotu the video of your wife care to clue me in????

  • picking one up in a hour for $425 with 2 mags. nice review

  • I bought the SS Springer GI45 back in April. Its by far the easiest firearm I have worked on or had to maintain. The sights are EASY to use, you must be blind (go have your eyes checked) as they would have changed the sights in the 60+ years it was in service if it had been a problem. This is possibly the WORST review of a firearm I have ever seen. Tell me about the specs, use and maybe a compairison to the Modern 1911 you talk about; but your OPINION IS NOT NESSESARY

  • your comment is NOT NECESSARY**

good comment until the end where you insult the man on his review and on HIS opinion. Who the fuck cares what you think.. if its that big of a deal, make your own damn review.

Thats Unnecessary my friend.. now go AD your SS GI smart ass

  • kiss my ass ya dork!!!

  • nice 1911 would you choose this over a para 1911gi

  • dont know much about para

  • awesome gun my local gun shop has one for sale for 650 thinking about picking it up. nice vid

  • thats way high!! shop around

  • had one of these about 2 years ago. sold it to move onto better 1911's(or so i thought). now im kicking myself in the ass for selling it because it was and still is one of the most reliable, true to history 1911's on the market. and at a good price. ill have another one soon. thats for fucking sure!

  • Nice video. I just picked up one of these a couple days ago, actually $539 at my local store, an unbeatable deal for a quality 1911. Can't wait to take it to the range and break it in. And agreed about the magazines it comes with, I'll be getting better magazines.

  • Buy the mil spec ! Not the G.I. ! Its well worth the extra $50

  • the fist 1min of this video is funny as shit..

    overall good vid

    you got my sub..

  • the paint on mine is practicaly off, It looks good without it. I also got pearl grips now instead of wood so the steel doesnt look as bad. Got it for 500 i think earlier this year....maybe december november of last year.
