Its an amazing story, but I wish it wasnt so drenched in christianity. Christianity isnt the only religion that stresses forgiveness and it certainly isnt the first on earth to do so.

JordanPar, it's drenched in Christianity because that's what this story is all about. If you read the writings of Jim Elliott, one of the missionaries killed that day, you'll understand that Christianity was all these men were about, and that they lived what Christ taught, and believed when Christ said, "I am the way the truth and the life, no man comes unto the father except through me". That's the message these men were taking to this tribe, nothing else.

Its about Jesus Christ. Christ is the one who died to save man from himself and sin. Jesus Christ is the only one who can change the hearts of men. Who else gave this sacrifice? There is no one else who did or could make this sacrifice except for Jesus Christ. Cant you see? It wasnt a certain doctrine, that saved the #1 most homicidal people group in all mankinds history, it wasnt a certain religion, but the power of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the difference between all other beleifs.

Look at all the good things we have in this country and most of the time you will see it was founded by Christians. Hospital , collages, the red cross, the YMCA, YWCA, Children homes, the list goes on and on. Research it. I find it hard to understand why anyone could find fault with Christ. Except it says in the last days the spirit of antichrist will come. I believe we are there.

As the others have said... it is drenched in Christianity because it was the power of Christ that reached these people. Yes- their are other religions that teach forgiveness- but the truth of the matter is that they were not the ones to reach these people- it was God and God alone who reached these people

This made me thinjk of how God sets the boundaries of where people will live and I marvel at how he sent those five missinaries to that Tribe at just the right time so that would not be the end of the Auca Indians...His love! Our finite minds cannot comprehend fully and our hearts, well, he can only give us spoonfuls at a time or we would explode.

What white god? White people have never had a name for the Christian God.  They have names for pagan deities, but not for the one true God.

Yahweh/Jehovah, Elohim, Adonai, and El Shaddai are all Hebrew names. Shang Ti and Hananim are Asian names. Wengongi and Viracocha are South American names. But they all describe the same God with the same characteristics, power, and love.

I saw Mincaye and Steve back in 99 or 2000 shortly after our beloved Pastor John Osteen went to be w/ our LORD, and our new (and beloved) Pastor Joel took over the helms @ Lakewood Church in Houston.Mincaye demonstrated a method of hunting his tribe used in the jungle.W/sheer lung force & precision he blew an arrow at a balloon target roughly 10-15ft overhead and it burst on impact.Then came Pastor's turn..it was a hilarious display that had the whole congregation in uproar. Anyone recall this?
