  • While yall Tryna Play Her about making this song at 14,Heres a few insiders for you Dumb Asses:Clearly she says"Dodge that Dick",Which means shes Dodging Dick. And she says Also that Shes a Virgin with a Capital V,HELOO!!Then she says "you gotta Beat that Meat" Which means, you dumb assholes,Jack off nigga cause you aint gettin this pussy.Last but not least she says"In 1995 we Used to sit in a Tree"Meaning in 1995 she was a kid,Now its 1996 im growing up. Dumb Mutherfuckers....

  • Who cares about the music the clips r great ...

  • Lemme rephrase.....if you object to this song, you still a virgin because nobody WANTED to fuck you, not because you was "saving" yourself.

  • If you object to this song, you still a virgin (and you had no say so in the matter).

  • I love Magnolia Shorty. Rest In Peace, your music will never die

  • #classic love it!!

  • LMAO @ the vid on this song hahha

  • @p4ndiamond, if you think this video is hilarious, you should consider euthanizing yourself. This country would be better off without you.

  • This song brings back so many great memories..RIP Magnolia Shorty <3

  • R.I.P. to Shorty, and for those of you posting negative comments about her & she is no longer living; she does say she a virgin with a capital "V". Then she also says, "u gotta dodge that dick" so listen to the lyrics. Then what girl this age doesn't talk about that kind of stuff, pretty much every 14 yr old girl i know is or was already having sex OR thinking about it. Hell my brother was 11 and was fucking grown women.

  • @Shinteria Thank you, very well said.

  • @JusAnotherUTuber Thanks!

  • @Shinteria and plus she did say in here when she get ready to she going monkey on that dick, so for all the ppl talking stupid stfu and listen before you comment on it also R.I.P Magnolia - louisiana Bound bby :)

  • @13domonique Yea, but those people posting negative comments are from a different culture, not the South, so they really wouldn't understand.

  • @Shinteria That is actually why they burn me up with the dumb bull cause they quick to judge about our way of dancing when half of them be without any fcking dance skills and be all off beat !

  • @Shinteria shawty AINT dead , just turn on one of her songs and she comes alive right with them , !

  • @Shinteria

I agree, but grown ass women should not have been sleeping an 11 year old. Yes, that shit does happen, but it doesn't make it right. He can't even buy her drink. Hell, he can't even take her out. I guess she can always treat him to Chuck E Cheese : )

  • @RomsTv THAT'S NEW ORLEANS LA

  • @RomsTv, sad and pitiful. And we ask why our culture is falling by the wayside. Our young girls are being taught to see themselves as nothing but whores, and our young boys as nothing but gangsters and pimps.

And just as soon as we try to teach our children to rise above this ignorance, we are labeled sellouts and Uncle Toms. Our communities are morally bankrupt. Our children's souls have been put on ice. This is sad....

  • @RomsTv if you listen she says she's a "virgin with a capital V"

  • @shinediaz26 1ST OFF HER NAME WAS RENETTA LOWE...AND YOU HEARD SHE HAD AIDS?...OKAY EVEN IF YOU DID REALLY HEAR IT....WHY WOULD YOU WRITE IT IN A COMMENT? AND ITS ONLY HEAR SAY YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF ITS TRUE....YOU ARE TO OLD FOR THAT GROW UP!!!

  • @DATCHICKISFINE Did you see that person left that comment a year ago? They didn't just post it. I agree it is a classless think to post but they didn't post it since the recent tragedy. There are a lot of idiots on youtube, you have to ignore them. If not you will be forever typing responses. :-) R.I.P. Magnolia Shorty.

  • @Mongo76 Um yea...I know when they left it . I mean I did read the comment, and I also know that unless they seen her test results or caught it from her they shouldn't post comments based on hear say. thats not cool, and I honestly don't care if the comment was posted a year ago or a minute ago saying someone has aids is no joke, and thats the reason why I replied to that comment. it's not because she got killed recently I would've said the exact samething a year ago (NEXT!!!)

  • @DATCHICKISFINE Okay. My comment wasn't meant to be malicious in anyway. I did say I agreed with you. Posting that someone has AIDS is not an appropriate thing to allege, especially if it's untrue. From the (sarcastic) tone of your reply, it seems you felt my comment was negative toward you for some reason. That was not my intent nor did I say it with a negative attitude. I'm sorry if you felt it was. No harm meant.

  • This music, if you dare to refer to it as such, is deplorable. I grew up in the Lower 9th Ward and spent most of my teen years subjected to crap like this. I went back home this past weekend and was met with it at a party. It's even worst now. It's shameful that as many legendary musicians have emerged from my city, this stuff garners so much attention. WAKE UP!!!!

  • @mreandre5 music is subjective; most commenters here could laugh at your music choices. if its not your cup of tea the 'back button' is right up there. I personally think its fun party music, if nothing else good to shake ones booty to.

  • @mreandre5 Thats an absolutely despicable - deplorable - self-hating thing to say. The beat, the rhythm - the inflection and rhyme style is totally connected to the roots of Afro-Caribbean-New Orleans music. It's not complex, but it is real and honest. YOU wake up. You know nothing of music. Or your own damn culture.

  • @whiskeycricket Thanks for stating that I know nothing of music, especially since I grew up in a family of musicians. Let's see...Dad was a drummer for 40+ years. My sister picked up drumsticks @ 4 years old, perfected her craft, then taught herself how to play the trumpet. She also attended NOCCA. Maybe you've heard of it since NO artists such as Harry Connick, Jr., the Marsalis brothers, and Trombone Shorty attended as well. Oh, and my youngest brother is a percussionist.

  • @mreandre5 UH - That just makes your statement that much WORSE. It's basically like musician classism. Back in the day NOCCA teachers used to tell young kids who played street brass band music that they weren't playing "real" jazz. Yes I KNOW what NOCCA is fool.I love ALL NEw Orleans music ... and bounce has reverberated and altered all of popular music. Do you go to an African drum circle and denigrate it for it's lack of complexity? You kind of make me sick.

  • @whiskeycricket Culture, huh? You probably wouldn't recognize a "Super Sunday" event if it passed your house. Maybe you missed out on the shoot-outs that seemed to follow when the Indians were done, never been "To da Lake" on a Sunday with 20 lbs of seafood from Seafood City on Broad. You probably never washed your hands in the "zinc" or "made groceries" at "Swagman's" or picked up buttermilk drops from McKenzie's. How about Kennedy, 35, or St. Aug's Explosion talent shows? Probably not.

  • @mreandre5 Um wrong lady - grew up in the Treme.

  • @whiskeycricket , the beat and the rhyme style are not the problem. I think the LYRICS are what most people find lacking. As with a lot of music these days. Glorifying acting like a whore is just wrong, I don't care what beat you set it to. Especially when done by a child. The MUSIC is great. What this child is talking about is horrid, especially coming from the mouth of a 14 year old child.

  • @poppysfit Whatever. Puritanical boloney . Plus - taking things far too seriously. It's nothing new for a teenager to be ridiculously dirty. And who cares? Arty hipsters like Peaches are actually respected - while people denigrate Magnolia Shorty. What? Magnolia is no dirtier than depression era blues - which is considered art nowadays. If you can't cut the mustard, then quit lickin' round the jar.

  • @whiskeycricket taking things far too seriously? A young girl living a life that leaves her vulnerable to abuse and disease is nothing to get serious about? A life that finally leaves her shot to death? Maybe the problem is we are not taking this shit serious enough. Have you seen the way most of those "depression era blues" singers ended up? Just because they did it does not mean it's okay. Common sense tells you to learn from their mistakes and don't repeat them. If you have any.

  • @poppysfit Magnolia Shorty was from the projects - and POOR, she had a sense of humor and was a talented performer. She was not highly educated, nor did she have a lot of opportunities. Denigrating a poor black woman - for having "no common senses" for making her own way in the world by being CREATIVE is perhaps racist and definitely classist. Why don't you get your ass down to the projects and hand out leaflets telling teenager to not use the word "dick." God I hate middle class douche bags.

  • @whiskeycricket holds NO water, moron. I was the same: poor, black woman, etc. The only difference? I was taught and encouraged to have pride and moral values. That is the problem. It's not about being a poor black woman or uneducated. It's about our community encouraging destructive behavior and saying it's okay because you are a poor, black and uneducated. And it is not about the words. It's about the actions behind the words. It about the mentality and lifestyle that took

  • @poppysfit Excuse me. You are blaming a victim for her own murder - and insulting her on a MEMORIAL youtube video. How exactly is that moral? Who taught you THOSE values, exactly? Anyway. Her being poor and "uneducated" is not why it's "Ok." It's OK because there is nothing wrong with making sexual, nonsensical ridiculous rhymes.

  • Comment removed

  • @poppysfit She is expressing herself using the particular language and silliness of her culture. You were not brought up to "have values and pride" you were brought up to disrespect your own culture. THAT is middle class. Jazz, rock - all of it has been disrespected in the same way at one time. But Magnolia Shorty is basically roots music and a whole bunch of New Orleans hip-hop sprouted from her. Thank god she made music for the people, and didn't become a boring ass bank teller or some shit.

  • @whiskeycricket this young girls life in such a horrible way, but first told her it was okay to act and be treated like an ignorant slut.

  • @poppysfit A woman calling another woman a "slut" for any reason is totally disgusting. On her own memorial page as well? You really are reprehensible.

  • @whiskeycricket First, I didn't call Magnolia Shorty a slut. I said she was encouraged to ACT like one and allow people to treat her like one. Second, "You were not brought up to "have values and pride" you were brought up to disrespect your own culture. " WHAT!?! Because I take pride in being a black woman and in all black women being treated with respect and acting respectfully I am disrespecting my culture? And what in the hell is wrong with being middle class?

  • @poppysfit Middle class values are something to AVOID, not embrace, as you become educated and enlightened. Why? Because middle class values cause people to judge others who they don't feel represent how people should be and act. THAT is ignorant. Middle class values stop art and culture from developing to their fullest expression. We need people who are loud, in your face and confront bourgeois values. It is not for you to decide how all black women should act.

  • @whiskeycricket Bourgeois values? You mean not allowing someone to treat you like a whore is bourgeois? Working hard and, yes, making a good living is bourgeois? Aren't you being a bit judgemental yourself? And I know it is not up to me to decide how all black women should act. But it is also wrong for other black women to use their "creativity" to encourage black children to act like animals. Values do not have a price tag on them. Anyone can have them.

  • @poppysfit So now you're not only calling her a "whore" you are assuming there is something wrong with being a whore. There is nothing wrong with being a sex worker. It's a valid occupation. If you spend your time thinking there is something wrong with it - yes, that is bourgeois and ignorant. Sex workers deserve as much respect as anyone else. But ANYWAY she was a PERFORMER and made music - she wasn't a whore.

  • @whiskeycricket I didn't call her a whore. As for the rest of your comment: I don't even have the words to argue the point against that bullshit. You honestly think it is a joy for most women out there to sell themselves to be used? You actually believe that?

  • @poppysfit I do not concern myself with "most" women or "most" people. I didn't say women - I said sex workerz. Grown ass people choose to do this kind of work, work that SHOULD be legal in all states. People should have the right to do with their bodies as they please. And if it WAS legal it would be safer. In any event - yes, there ARE people who do sex work who DO enjoy their work. In any event, being a sex worker should not mean you deserve to be disrespected.

  • @whiskeycricket And the real damn shame is you sitting there arguing that our young people should be encouraged to act like wild animals because it's some sort of cultural birthright. You need to leave that plantation mentality behind you. We are starting to act like what we've been called for hundreds of years. Animals. Good for nothing but fighting and breeding.

  • @poppysfit People should be encouraged to EXPRESS themselves, and become who they are meant to be, not who they are "supposed" to be. Magnolia wasn't "fighting and breeding" she made MUSIC! There really is no higher calling in life.

  • @whiskeycricket You are right. But "expressing yourself" is not the same as denigrating yourself or telling others to do the same. Yes, this is adult music and adults who cannot be easily influence should be the only ones listening to it, but that is not the case. Too many children hear this stuff and don't take it as "silliness of her culture".

  • @poppysfit Ok. 1.) It's talking about a Monkey on a dick. BIG DEAL. Who cares. It makes NO kind of sense. Its ridiculous! Teenagers say much worse things all the time, from all walks of life. 2.) It is REALLY INAPPROPRIATE to talk shit about someone on a MEMORIAL tribute to them after they have died! How the hell you think thats OK after all your talk of values is beyond me.

  • @whiskeycricket 1) My comments were aimed at your comments about the music, not Magnolia Shorty. We were discussing the music and the lyrics of the music. 2) I'm pretty sure you do not actually believe the song was about A MONKEY on A DICK. As I said, we were discussing the content of music today, not Magnolia Shorty personally. Now I have to go to work. This Bourgeoisie puritan has bills to pay. Have a good day.

  • @whiskeycricket Is it against my culter to be hard working, respectful of myself and others, a help to my community, and to encourage my children to get as much education as they can so they won't have to strugle? And, yes I teach my daughters to have respect for themselves and have pride in themselves and not allow themselves to be put in danger by hanging around ignorant people doing ignorant shit. That's against my culture?
