You need to have a wired keyboard and mouse to set up a wireless one. (bluetooth wireless) that is also listed on the specifications list when you buy a new apple wireless keyboard and mouse

i have logitech dinovo edge keyboard (wireless bluetooth) and mac (i think mini would to) detected it like windows. even the trackpad works. so i guess you should buy great brand like Logitech or MS keyboard

This is why you should of got a laptop mate because its a pain to be transporting it to your university. And if you want your laptop on all the time just take the batteries out and plug it into the mains like a normal computer this will stop the batter malfunctioning and the computer overheating and breaking.

I'm in the same situation. I'm 14 and I have a pretty crap laptop running Vista. I'm looking to make the change to a Mac and the Mac mini seems like a cheap alternative to an iMac. I checked on the Apple UK website where there is a comparison table and according to that, the Mac mini (2009 version) has the exact same spec as the iMac, minus the screen and obviously keyboard and mouse. It's just user preference. If you're happy with the monitor you already have, why spend more that necessary?

Intel is phasing out the 65nm processors currently in the mac mini, so Apple will be forced to update it soon. its about time, too.

lets make a wishlist for a new Mac Mini...

-All-aluminum case

-Non Intel IGP graphics

-Penryn based core 2 duo processors at speeds that justify the price

-More video outputs, since the mini makes a very good home theatre PC. it should have HDMI, mini displayport, ect.

-support for 8gb of memory? i doubt this would happen.

yep, its just the mac mini, and imean if u have ur own mouse and keyboard, and screen ur SET TO GO, ppl tend to get at least the new apple keyboard as its just SWEET..lol. and extra buttons that really help u with shortcuts, that u cant get on a windows keyboard, but NO BIG DEAL. so yep, as a first mac, yep go ahead.
