Someone explain to me how this only has 10k views, you're unbelievable. I compose music, and I like to think that it's not too bad. Then I watch this and can only imagine being of this standard. How long have you played for?
In my english class we're writing slam poetry. I adore music so I decided to set mine to classical. And when I was looking through videos I found this and autimatically knew this was it. I just wanted to say thank you because I don't know if I could of written half of what I did if it wasn't for this. :)
WOwW I find myself listening to this time and time again. How could you come up with such an extraordinary arrangement which brings both tears and smiles! It's so thrilling watching your fingers moving on the keys so effortlessly. I started playing piano a year ago but I can't put myself at ease all the time :(
This was so beautifully played that it made me tear up. That's saying a lot, because it takes a lot for music to make my eyes moisten. It has to be played with a certain amount of passion, which you sir, have that passion. I don't think "beautiful" even begins to touch the surface of this song and how you have played it. Props to you, you got yourself another fan. :)
The way you leave it on a high note like that... almost gives it an unfinished feel. As if to say you're not done fighting, I think it just increases the power and feeling of the piece.
This piece along has been composed by him, the owner of "musicbasics". Like this beautiful composition, 99% of musics posted in this channel are composed by him too. I am big fan of this channel.
I've listened to a lot of the pieces you have posted and at least so far, I think this is the most impressive I've heard, and also the actual recording sounds more clear than the others I have heard.
Did you buy a tripod / new tripod? The angle is different then all you other videos. I like the new angle gives a more broad view then the old from the side view, it really shows off how fast and much your hands move.
Holy cow, I've watched your older videos, but I have to say that this one has impacted me more than those. This video contained a beautiful passage that showed great control while presenting itself with a great sense of chaos. Keep making your music; it's pretty awesome.
Your site does not have all your songs, which presented a question for me. When making the songs, do you jot down your ideas or just remember them, and do you ever have a fully transcribed version of your songs?
@Dangles550 Not always. Most of my pieces, I have a general idea in my head and simply play what my mind wants to hear. For this piece I wrote all the notes down beforehand - they will be up soon. It's much more difficult to write it beforehand which is why most of my pieces are improvisations, not *written* pieces. Thanks for your comment!
@ImW4tchingYOU from some one that's been going to lessons for 12 years i would say it really is your best bet but it can be really pricey ($90 and greater monthly, 65 in my case buts that is cuz it was the old price) and if the reason you cant go is money I would say to learn how to ready sheet music which you can find lots of books and starter piano books for cheep and just practice playing very very basic things ( beginner books) p1/a few post lol
@ImW4tchingYOU many of which wont really sound like songs lol but the real trick is to stick with it, for me I did not enjoy piano until almost 3 years of playing ( but at a young kids learning rate) and as i got better it became much more fun. also i recomend working on one hand at a time so play only the right hand side of the song till you have it then do the same with left then play with both. pt 2 / a few
@ImW4tchingYOU now if you want to do improv stuff like musicalbasics you'll need to learn chords and such, but learn sheet music first, you also need what i would call a musical mind, something I lack i cannot sit and create a song my mind just can't piece stuff together like that. pt 3/ 4
@ImW4tchingYOU i find a good step towards improv is blues because it allows you to change the song a lot an throw in and out notes with it still sounding good and you don't have to worry much about timing like you do in classical. pt 4 / 4 sorry if i board you to death but I'm just throwing out all the knowledge I have i hope you find it useful
Um, it begins with a young maiden whose been hurt by an unfaithful boyfriend. She tries to break it off, but he turns on her and tries to beat her. She gets away, but she's afraid to love again. Years later she meets a man who takes her breath away, but she won't open up her heart. Now it switches to the second man's point of view. He's hurt that the girl won't let him in, but he serenades her and when a dance rolls around, he asks her to be his dancing partner. She accepts and they start danci
that is just.. CRAZY! you hands are moving so fast in parts, and obviously accurately. It sounds great too, nice job! For whatever reason reminds me of something id hear in a game preview, cut scene, commercial. Something like final fantasy
@Animeabe As a huge fan of Final Fantasy (Nobuo Uematsu) I can definitely say that the opening passage especially, and the last part, were all heavily influenced by his style
This piece means a lot to me. I've played piano for a long time, but due to some strange situations, I can't play hardly at all anymore. For a while I considered quitting entirely, but when I watch your videos--this one especially, with the theme of never giving up--I'm reminded of how much I love the piano, and how beautiful music is. Thank you so much for continuing to make these heartfelt compositions.
Congratulations to you on reaching incredible milestones!!! Thank you for continuing to compose so many amazing music songs and your tireless efforts on uploading each of 110 videos of your compositions for us to enjoy. The messages and the passions along with your beautiful music are so powerful. Thank you for promising us your determination to continue this journey.
@musicalbasics Surpass YOU? your like, unsurpassible! haha i think you should go down in history! If i have any questions i'll let you know. Thank you so much!
I must say, Lionel; the wealth of musicianship that you have (from the 110 videos so far) outclasses most of what I've heard in 13 years of nothing but classical. And it isn't even fair to compare because you can only do so much with two hands whereas my favorite songs are comprised of hundreds.
I will say, a lot of your work seems methodical, and have a common syntax; but, what composer doesn't have a style they come back to -- consciously or not?
@TheVerandure Thanks TheVerandure :) That is very insightful. You are right in that most of my music uses some of the same techniques. Without a teacher to explore new styles, I can only develop the style I have right now, which is very heavily video-game influenced, and based off of countless hours of mindless improvisation.
Amazing, beautiful. Im gonna go clear up the mess i just made in my pants...
