thanks for posting the video. i've seen my cat doing this before and thought it was heartburn from eating a little human food. i'll know now to see if it's asthma.
@rsfff Thanks for the idea that it could have been kennel cough, I also suspected that. However symptoms of kennel cough include fever, sneezing and coughing, swollen lymph nodes, and runny nose/eyes. I am pretty sure I trust my vet that after looking at his chest through an x-ray and reviewing my video he said it was asthma!
My Ragdoll Chicio has the same, he has taking meds with the aerokat, en is fine now, he only has problems with slime, but thats under controle and does not bother him at all while playing and chasing my other cat. I'm curious if its only in summertime, I hope for the winter that the slime is gone
Dude My cat is having trouble breathing and im very worried it just started 3 days ago is not as fast as yours in the vid but the abdominal area gets to big when she breathes and she is very exhausted there are not vets in the area due to vacation time and i wanted to know if is URGENT for a vet to see her or can it wait until monday ???
@XxChEcKoxX i would get to an emergency vet asap. if your cat is exhausted I would be terribly worried. Solo always went right back to normal after his coughing, never was he exhausted. Hope it is all ok :(
Feline asthma is a chronic and progressive disease. It is best controlled by inhaled steroids. If left untreated, it can cause scarring of the lungs and becomes more difficult to treat. I have an asthmatic cat that is controlled with an inhaler paired with an Aerokat, and she has gone over a year without an asthma attack.
@MissLiz805 Omg! Thank you so much for sharing that I had no idea. My cat has had an antiinflammatory one due to breathing problems. Recently I came to the conclusion that it's asthma. She hasn't been on treatments but now that I know it can cause scarring I need to get her on regular treatment asap!
I wanted to let everyone know I switched Bella to a grain free cat food called "Blue Wilderness" and she's hasn't had near the outbreaks she used to. Might be worth a try with you cat that has asthma too!
Fishwel, my cat's first attack was the day I got her home from spay surgery. The vet said it was a reaction to the meds. Now, two years later, I just got a tentative diagnosis of asthma. She's been coughing similar to this cat off and on for two years. I don't know what the best thing to do would be for surgery ... Good luck with your cat.
Thank you for posting this video...my tabby does the SAME thing. Our vet gave her a shot but it didn't work. I'm going to show the vet this video on my phone
Might be bad sneezing, my cat has done that before.

kennel cough doesn't HAVE to be all the above.. it can be just one thing or heck just under the radar and no symptoms at all

more likely kennel cough especially if it cleared right up.

Oh my god..
I have a siamese kitten who has started doing this a month or so ago.
I'm soososossosooooo glad it's not something extremely dangerous and that I can get medication for it.
She does this but really really fast, too.
I am bringing her to a vet.

Did your cat sneeze a lot also with asthma? My cat sounds exactly like that when she has these little attacks she also sneezes a lot to.
