Dude, you don't need an eight string to play power chords and low end chords. Eight strings are for being able to shred up high and still get really low lows.

@VonHendrixTV You don't have to play like Tosin Abasi, but you don't have to play like a ten year old who just learned about power chords is and what distortion is either. Meshuggah have played eight strings as long as anyone and they use their guitars closer to this than what Tosin and Javier use theirs for but this is just sad.

He plays with 7 and 8 string guitars because he wants a heavy tone, which if people really knew about guitars and playing, they'd know it'd be better to have a guitar with more strings will give you a great metal sound. And for those who want examples of that, Listen to Divine Heresy, Fear Factory (Dino's other band), and more commonly, listen to Korn, they use 7 strings

@Juansarabiaman String number is irrelevant. How ironic that you claim that most people are ignorant when you make the statement that string number somehow decides how heavy your sound is. Tuning and scale length is the only thing that matters in reality. For the most part, 7- and 8-string guitars are just a gimmick, and disappearingly few artists actually use the tonal range at their disposal.

@Pedestrian777 But you have to admit, with those extra 1 or 2 strings makes a difference in heaviness, and yes you can tune down lower like what Korn does to get a heavier sound. And i never said that string numbers decide your heaviness, it just adds on to it

@Glovefullavasoline Both can eat a dick in my opinion. Dino thought he was pioneering the 8 string, when looking back on this video, he sucks. Tosin Abasi isn't a bad player, but he like many others, think that if you shred and get a guitar with lots of strings you are a badass. Now...DL from Acacia Strain, he has some brutal shit and does it well, at least I can respect him :D

@Glovefullavasoline If all ur looking for is low end, then you can just as easily change the strings on a 6 string to a thicker gauge and tune to what ever low tuning. A .070 on a 6 string is good for drop Ab and works for drop G as well.. To me, 8strings are to drop low while still keeping the HIGH notes...but if all ur looking for is ONLY LOW END as you said, then a 7 or 8 string isnt necessary...unless of course you just want the guitar for looks...

I have a question. Why does this guy has an 8-string? He almost doesn't do anything on the higher strings. Can't he just get a 6 or 7 string with bigger strings? Cause I found this not practical.

Dino is nothing special, just a guy who can't come up with anything original so he just resorts to de-tuning as low as possible and chug the hell out of one string. He's in 3 bands too, so all attempts at trying to stay creative in 3 bands at once isn't an option. Just makes him an idiot who plays the same thing over and over every song. Sigh, how pathetic.
