  • Interesting idea. If I get infested, I'll have to try it.

  • I had a bed bug infestation in my childhood home for over 2 years, I have never personally been attacked but anyone that has came into the home and slept in a room other than my own has. The absolute cheapest way is to go to your local pet store and get diatomaceous earth, it is just like the kitty litter gel but already in the fine powder form. I got a 40lb bag for only 30 bucks.

  • very interesting video and although Silica gel may work it doesn't mean it will kill all of them I still think an experienced exterminator is the way to go even if it does cost a bit more money.

  • @SuburbanExt no exterminator has been able to kill the bed bugs, they are resistant to the chemicals. Only heat over 120* or the silica because it gets under their skin and dehydrates them, killing nearly instantly. I have had a exterminator spray well over 10 times with no results

  • I just got bitten by this fuking bugs... !! and it woke me up and kill 4 or 5 of them... I`m sure there are more.... OMG... by the way, how can i get this Silica?

  • @keosambath You can find coarse silica as SILICA GEL CAT LITTER. You have to grind it to a fine fine powder. Regular cat litter does not work, it must be SILICA GEL CAT LITTER. Get it at those big pet supply stores.

  • Hey just wanna say thanx for the suggestion of silica for bed bugs. I had spent plenty of money on pesticides and alcohol. I was afraid to enter my room. I am allergic to the bites and my bites last about a week. Silica did the trick. Ur awesome!

  • You deserve all the credit because of your strong faith.

    Have a good night's sleep.

Spread the word so that others can be victorious.

  • My biggest concern is negative health risks due to the silica... anyone hear anything negative about it to me or my cat?

  • @BrianGriffon no it is completely non toxic, it is found in food products, it is edible [ well idk about the cat litter, but you can purchase [food safe] diatomaceous earth at your local pet store. You can feed it to animals for treatment of worms, rub on skin for treatment of fleas, it really is an awesome powder

  • Do you have any cheap effective ways of getting rid of cockroaches?

  • @lela2216

Cockroaches are tough. I used a gel called Maxforce a long time ago and it worked 100%. You may be able to buy it at an extermination store or the ocassional hardware store.

  • Maxforce worked for me in the different places I have lived.

  • OK, so I have to say, I had a vicious bedbug problem. I watched this video, then went out and got a cheap jug of Silicia Gel Kitty litter, and ground it up in a coffee grinder to a fine powder. Put the powder around where I usually am, (Computer, bed) and THAT same night, I had no new bug bites. In fact, I had no bed bugs ever since. It worked immediately. Have been bed bug free for over a year now, Thank you SOOOOO much!

  • @scientist1882

Thanks! I think this is one of my best endorsements.

Thanks to all of you who have tried out my ideas.

  • Wow!!

I have another dedicated and faith filled follower. Keep the faith and spread the word.

    Thanks

  • Thanks so much. I dont know what would have done without this info. Being on disability , I am on a very low budget. Well good news I only killed 1 stray today. So it seems that I am winning the war with these lil buggers. tks a bunch.

    cheers

  • @msgreenbud3373

Glad I could help. Keep fighting till they are all gone. Keep the faith in the powders.

  • Could this be because they are trying to get away from the silica? and do u think they will eventually die? any strays that I have been finding I have just been killing, but I am so scared that some will survive and the whole cycle will start over. Its been about 4 days since I put the silica down and I am still killing strays. I think a mojority of them are dead but do u think I should get a spray or something else just to assure that I kill them all? By the way tks so much. yur a champ.

  • @msgreenbud3373

It takes weeks for the silica gel powder to kill them all because each one only comes out of hiding after a few days or weeks. Juat be sure the silica gel is powdered to a fine, fine, fine grind.

Thanks for making me feel like a champ!

  • Hi there, I jsut found out that I have bed bugs about a week ago. I watcher yur vidoe and rite away went out and got the kitty litter, I found a no name brand of silica cat litter it was 100% silica it only has the clear silica and thats it. I crushed pretty much the whole container of it and i caked it all over my mattresses and box spring. Since I did this I have been finding many dead bed bugs but I am also finding strays , like on the walls or curtain.

  • Uploader: I cannot find silica jel cat litter like the one you showed in this video. Any help?

    thankx

  • @charms71

You should be able to find it in the big pet stores. It looks like road salt but is cat litter and it may be yellowish or clear with blue.

  • I learned the hard way that it is extremely important to grind the Silica powder down to a almost flour like dust. A good way to know if it's ground down enough is to get a soak and put some in and if it can come through the fibers than you should have a good consistency . If you feel the dust and you can still feel salt like granules than there's still a lot of work that needs to be done to grind it down still. A soak is a good way to spread carpets equally and it evenly

  • thanks for the post!

  • You are welcome. I hope my videos can help you or your friends. Thanks to you for the nice comment as well.

  • Thanks DarkKillha and everyone who has posted a comment.

  • issues with bedbugs?? yikes!!! try using Orange Guard Home Pest Control! its all-natural and really effective. try spraying cracks and crevices to use Orange Guard as a repellent.

  • bro eat garlic and it enters your blood and repeals any bloodsucker..as it is strong in the blood...

  • Maybe you are right but I have a feeling it is just an old wives tale. I think I would rather trust silica gel cat litter powder and chemicals (especially chemicals).

  • what if i grinded the stuff in a fine powder, then put it in a spray bottle with water and sprayed it, would it work?

  • I think your water/powder spray idea would work but I think it would be better left as a dry powder. Try it and see. I am sure it would work.

  • @jackcarpentersax ty dude

  • Glad to be of help.

  • @patriotfreedomfigher If by any chance cat litter kills any insect whatsoever, the idea of mixing a powder with water is to reach areas you would not be able to get to normally. The water evaporates, the powder does not and a "residual" is then left behind.

  • Test the idea!

  • Guys, please be aware of the risks of crystalized silica. Do a google search on silicosis.

There is risk of permanent lung damage by grinding silica. Something to consider before trying this.

  • You don't know what you are talking about. Silica gel is NOT crystalized silica. Do your research first and know what you are talking about BEFORE leaving wrong comments. Silica gel is a food ingredient. Sorry!

  • Well, gel and crystalized silica are two different things. Crystalline silica dust can cause silicosis but synthetic amorphous silica gel is non-friable, and so does not cause silicosis. But if you actively try to grind it down then it has the potential to be dangerous to the lungs. Something to consider.

  • crushing silica gel cat litter doesn't change its crystal structure

  • The key aspect of silica gel is it's friability, IE they are not easily broken into smaller pieces. But, as you say, the structure of the silica will be more dangerous as a smaller particle. If it's sharp enough to cut bugs, it's small enough to breathe and damage the lungs. Might be relatively acceptable in small doses, but just something to think about. My point is to be careful and wear a mask.

  • you may be able to break it into smaller pieces but those pieces are not crystaline silica so it is harmless

  • @jackcarpentersax Salam Jack , Alhamdulilah so far its been 4 weeks and the bugs are gone.

its really work... all the way from singapore with thanks !!!

  • Thanks for your faith. Salam.

Xiexie, ni de xiangxin de xin.

  • @jackcarpentersax i tried to kill them with bleach

  • Bleach is stinky and I really don't think it will work. Give us more detail on what you did and did it REALLY have any REAL results. Wishful thinking is not very good when it comes to bedbugs, the method has to really work

  • @jackcarpentersax its didn't help. i thought that since its was smething dangerouse and very stinky it would kill it but it didn't it just reduced them. but my familly and i tried e but it didn't work we washed our clothes with hot water,Dried our clothes i even tried ironing my bed.but it did help. the iron help kill alot and most of them especially the eggs.

  • Bleach is only a contact killer and not a good one either and destroys whatever you put it on in one way or another. It may kill eggs but if you want something like a cleaner that kills eggs than use 99% alcohol from the pharmacy counter. You will have to ask for it seeing it's stored usually behind the counter. A 4 litter container costs around $35 to $40 Canadian. Alcohol does evaporate quite easily also .Listen to Jack, he knows

The silica crystal powder is by far the best way to kill them.

  • @Stevensmth25

    Thanks for your input.

  • @fenisc I've read bleach doesn't work and it can damage your upholstery. I've started using some pray which says it kills bed bugs. Too early to tell if it is working.

  • who would talk about fukin bedbugs!!!!??

you buy fukin buy cat shit n remove bedbugs

  • Hi, my family and I have been fighting these things for over a year. We have spend hundreds of dollars, tore all the walls and installation, different streamers, left our house open with no wall or anything for 3 months, even heating the house twice to 120, we had no bed only air mattresses, no furture, and I mean nothing. We are all out of money with my husband off of work and my 2 babies. Im really tired. We are going to try this. I pray this works. Please God let this work!!!!!!!!!

  • Be sure to grind the silica gel cat litter to a fine fine powder. Diatomaceous earth works equally well. These (silica gel powder and diatomaceous earth) are the powders the commercial insect dusts are made of.

  • sorry haven't replied for awhile been busy, but to update i haven't seen any bugs besides those two i had mention. so i can't experiment without any bugs. which is a good thing. well if i see one i'll try to keep it alive to experiment. it probably hitch a ride on my back-pack, i put that on the ground a lot. i'll comment on your site if i found one to experiment on, thank-you for your knowledge.

  • I have no doubt the powder will work. Keep me informed though. I would like to be kept informed of your experience with the bedbugs. Your experience can help the other video viewers and commenters. Thanks.

  • How long does it usually take to for the silica gel to kill?

  • In a container as a test it will kill the bedbugs within hours. Get some bedbugs and put them in a container with a cover and put in some finely, finely powdered silica gel powder.

However spread around a bedroom it may take weeks to get rid of all the bedbugs. They suck blood and then may hide for weeks before having to come back for more. All the bedbugs are on a different feeding schedule.

  • THANK YOU I haven't been bitten in weeks!

  • You are welcome. Spread the word.

  • does fresh step crystals work also? couldnt find the kind you had

  • i put the bug on tape and spread the pouder 40 minutes later the bug remails alive

  • hi, will anybrand of litter box crystals work?

'cause i looked at the ingredients of a few boxes at walmart and none of them had silicagel, can you help please?

  • silica gel looks like road salt, or large salt crystals in general. The cat litter silica gel is usually a mix of white and blue crystals. I think the regular cat litter at walmart is bentonite and that is a totally different substance. Go to a pet supply store to find silica gel cat litter.

  • ok let me do it like this i didnt know so anyway thank

  • Powder it and it will work. Let me know!

  • the crystal in the glass in i put the bed bugs inside after 8 hour continue living inside the glass i told you i want to buy the crystal same you used this crystal that i used is no good dont kill bed bugs after 12 hour continue living the bed bugs i put a lot of crystal inside the glass and nothing continue living the bed bugs what happen

  • You have to crush the crystals to a fine fine powder. If you don't grind it to a powder it won't work. Did you grind it to a powder or did you just put the large crystals into the glass. My videos say that you have to grind the silica gel to a fine fine powder. Do that and it will definitely work.

  • Jack, please remove this video. I have done what you recommened and left the silica gel in my room and around my bed. Couple of weeks later I am coughing alot and very worried that I might have silicosis as I have these symptoms. Coughing, shortness of breath, I will be heading to see a doctor tomorrow, but I just wnat to warn everyone here.

    .

  • I doubt that it is due to the amorphous silica gel powder. Sounds to me like you have the flu.

  • If it caused silicosis do you think they would use silica gel as cat litter? The cat would breathe the dust every time it stepped into the stuff to take a leak or do number two. I even saw a cat eat it in a youtube video. If it were harmful do you think they would have the cat walk in it and kick up the dust every time they had to do their business? Cats bury their dirt and they always do it with their front paws so they surely kick up the dust from the silica gel right in front of their nose.

  • Comment removed

  • It is ok to leave silica gel or diatomaceous earth on the mattress or on the carpet for months on end.

  • Comment removed

  • Do I have to remove the colored crystals before I crush the white ones?

  • No the colored crystals are just the same. I think they are indicators in the silica gel to show how much moisture there is.

  • OK THIS IS NOT A JOKE. Silica Gel is very dangerous to inhale, These very fine particles attach to the interior of your lungs covering your mattress, box spring etc. is INSANE. cut and past the following medical condition. pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanoconiosis it is directly related to Silica Gel

  • Sorry, silica gel is amorphous and NOT CRYSTALINE so it is not a problem. Besides people get silicosis from Years and YEARS of breathing Crystaline silica .

  • how do we know if the cat litter is made from crystalline or amorophous silica gel. Your response is appreciated

  • Thankx for info - no other pet store had this gel but Pet Value (Downtown Toronto) Using all over the house - magic bullet works great to "powderize" it.

Thank you for helping me with this.

    :)

  • Thank for the tip. Carry on soldier. You will get a medal of honour when the war is over.

  • Thanks for answering Jack. I have moved and bought all new stuff but they must of been in something. This is more then a nightmare. I have the room circled with the powder, plastic covered the beds and laundryed everything so I hope this works

I have pasted you on to facebook, My daughter really suffers

  • I tested this cat litter and it worked on one bug in a bowl, it died in 2 hours medium size.

How long and when do i refresh the powder, you are amazing

I have been fighting this for one year, lots of laundry and a new bed. Thank you very much

  • Thanks. You are amazing too for giving it a try. If the powder is there it will kill the bedbugs or ants or whatever. How often you refresh it basically depends on how dusty your house is. It it becomes covered with dust it won't stick to the bedbugs so easily. You fought it for a year. Wow! What a long nightmare. We fought it for only a few weeks because I researched the problem on the internet and somehow came up with the idea of trying cheap silica gel cat litter ground to a fine powder.

  • Jack! I was wondering if this powder you "re-discovered" would be good to kill spiders. I saw one, the worst of them, a brown recluse, and the bad thing is that while I was going to get the spry to kill it, it was gone and I could not find it!

  • The best thing to do is to powder some silica gel and to put it in a container and put a variety of spiders inside. See if it kills the spiders after you see them walk through the powder.

  • Hi Jack,

I saw in one of your videos, that you have shown a small "white colored packet containing silica gel"....can we directly kill bed bugs by putting these small packets in various places or do we need to get the silica gel out of the packets, grind it thoroughly and then spread it all over.....would be really gr8 if you could throw some light on this....thanks in advance.

  • You have to open the packet of silica gel beads and crush them to a fine fine powder. They are basically the same as the silica gel cat litter. However the packets may have poison on the beads so don't put the powder on your bed. On the floor or on furniture is ok. Thanks for your interest.

  • Hi Jack,

    Thanks for your response.

I tried to find cat litter with silica ge, but could not get it.

So i got a packet of silica gel from a chemical shop.

I have uploaded a video which shows the silica gel. Could you please have a look and let me know if this is the right product, so that i can go ahead and grind it fine and spread the powder in almost all places

  • i am unable to copy the video link into the comments section.Request you to please have a look at my video from my videos (thats my only vide LOL)....

  • Spreading it around your house, mattress and other stuff won't harm you will it? I'm kind of scared to put that stuff on my mattress and inhaling it...

  • If you are talking about the silica gel cat litter, don't worry. You can practically eat it (but don't.) It is not crystaline silicon dioxide so breathe it all you want.

  • All I know that this epidemy of bed bugs in the USA coincide with the great influx of indian students, they bring that pest anywhere they move in.

  • Nobody can really pinpoint the cause. However, they are easily gotten rid of with something as simple as silica gel powder or diatomaceous earth.

  • bb's have been around for centuries, sooner or later everything makes a come back, you show your lack of intelligence with your discriminatory comments against certain individuals

  • just so you know, bedbugs don't like the smell of humans, but rather they sense the carbon dioxide we exhale. That's how they find us. they use heat to pick a place to bite.

  • You are right. But just maybe they can smell us as well but the other senses are more attuned to finding us and sucking our blood. Thanks.

  • But explain why I always find so many on the creases of my knapsack that I place on the floor. I believe they are attracted by the stinky smell on the bag.

  • Maybe because you are "WEARING" the knapsack.

  • The point is that bedbugs seek out humans. Carbon dioxide has nothing to do with it. They don't just sense carbon dioxide as many web sites and books want to trick you into believing. Bedbugs recognize the human scent.

  • You didn't mention the killing product you have.

  • Its called Black Jack bed bug killer spray, containing 99.50% Petroleum Distillate, .40% Piperonyl Butoxide, and .10% Pyrethrins.

  • The pyrethrins last only a couple of days. You will have to spray every few days. You can mix the spray with the powder. The powder may contain diatomaceous earth or silica gel powder these can be mixed with your spray but the powders alone will work forever. The powders however gather dust and so you will have to spread powder every once in a while. Powder like crazy every horizontal surface in your room. Sray like crazy around the edges of your room every vertical surface.

  • You silly people. Fighting bedbugs is a joy.

  • Okay so i have a horrible horrible case of bedbugs, i think i got it from my neighbor. I live in an apartment. I cant sleep at night until the sun comes up in the morning at 6 AM and then i sleep because i think the bedbugs hate sunlight. Every night from around 11 PM until 6 AM i see like 10 bedbugs every hour. I have so many. I do have a product that kills them on contact, but i want to know what i need to do to make sure they all die and never return.

  • Do i need to get mattress covers? or replace my mattresses? or put away my clothes into a bag? There are so many places in my house for the bedbugs to hide. Im losing sleep, i have a lot of stress, and my arms and neck have plenty of red dots from bed bug bites. Im too ashamed to admit i have bedbugs to my friends. I need help - but remember i have a killing product, i juts need directions on how/where/when to use it. Thankssss

  • Watch all my videos and read the boxes for all the information I have. I think mattress covers can only be useful for keeping the bedbugs out of the seams and to keep it from getting worse. Putting your clothes in a bag will not help. Not to worry about all the hiding places because your bed is your fortress you must defend. Every bedbug will suck blood so the main treatment area is your bed and bedroom. That is where you must make your stand. You can't possibly treat every crack and crevice.

  • Thanks, and yes your right i should focus on my bed and my bedroom, well my bedroom has the bed and also has like my work station there, and there might be many places to hide, well for now i will take apart my bed, put my spray all over the bed area, and im expecting bed bug powder on the mail soon, and i will use that as well. i might ask you for more help on this issue, thank you.

  • nice vid homie. but is this a one shot kill or do i have to re-apply again.

  • Just keep putting a little every day. Dust bunnies will settle on the powder so keep it fresh. Just be sure the silica gel powder is fine, fine, fine. It will still work if it has dust on it but the dust will create a barrier. Just keep the powder fresh till the little terrors stop biting and you don't notice them anymore. It will take time to get rid of them all. They can last for months without eating blood so keep up the battle till you are sure that you are sure that they are all gone.

  • how many months have they come back how many times have u almost wone? and i live in a colder climate and keep my place clean i found them quikley, im going out to find some neem oil and some citronella oil and some diatomaceous earth, for barriers and a steam cleaner and a big bottle of isoprople alcohol. for contact if i ever see though's little bass... good luck

  • Why waste all your money when all you need is silica gel cat litter? The other stuff you are talking about is just a big waste of time, money and energy. Grind the silica gel cat litter in a food processor or a coffee grind sprinkle it around and go to bed. Why waste all your precious time?

  • hey man, niice. however ive heard they are nocturnal ,so they are awake at nite when u are sleeping so they can feed, and not be seen. ive seen em in the day to though. my nabours are getto they are getting evicted for not paying rent and beeing total FUgs, I would use some Steam and Rubbing alchehole.. and im wating to find out what else.

  • They get started in the early evening while people are still sitting at their computer watching Youtube videos. They even crawled on my monitor to distract me from uploading these videos on how to kill them. They were even biting my bare feet. Steam and rubbing alcohol won't really work unless you can find every one of their many hiding spots and since steam and rubbing alcohol require direct application.

  • This was somewhat silly, but awesome

  • How can I be wrong when all the powders are the same as the ones in store-bought insect powders (except the cement, of course.) The store-bought powders are far more expensive.

  • You are entitled to your opinion but explain to me why there are no longer bedbugs in our house. They were everywhere but now there is not even one to be seen, ANYWHERE. The proof is in the pudding.

  • wrong
