  • Last chance to join Airplot (along with 85,000+ others) if you haven't already - there's only 3 days to go 'til the deeds are closed! Visit the airplot site to join.

  • Well the majority do want airport expansion thank you very much and that is what will happen.

  • @jotton123 you think money is more important than life itself, makes no sense

  • Whoever came up with this idea clearly has no idea about life, or how the planet works.

What about all the jobs this new runway will bring to the dismal economy? Or are you happy to protest this matter, at the expensive of hundreds of people?

    Grow up.

  • @Rodge91Rodge

Economy depends on ecology. It might not be obvious now for all but it will soon if we keep pushing the boundaries too far...And more important than economy, life itself.

  • I'd love to see them try that with the proposed airport in the thames estuary. HA!

  • i'm totally behind greenpeace on this one.. in this they only mension carbon emissions, they shuld have mensioned noise pollution, because the people who live just out side sippton there going to suffer with more noise. if i was aloud to i would buy a bit of the land to but the parents won't let me.XD

  • It's airplot like cabbage plot

    not like gunpowder plot rofl

  • hey exist2kill - you're not the fat humourless guy who runs the comic book store in the Simpsons by any chance, are you? Come to think of it, you talk even worse shit that he does, so I guess not...

  • What if supporters of the airport buy up those little pieces of land?

  • That's what the airport have been trying to do but because greenpeace own one plot of land there the construction of the runway can't continue

  • I dont think boycotting helps. they are only forced to do cheaper things that could be more harmful. like fools who think boycotting china will prevent pollution. let them build the runway. what if now airplanes have to circle in air for a longer time cause runways are overloaded? I'm not sure, but it can happen. as a pilot I would like to have an additional runway. sounds safer to have more runways in case if one is blocked.

  • This matty kid is annoying me. MAybe greenpeace has no problem with cars and motorcycles, but the fuel that is powering them. Maybe they would change the fuel source to something better for our environment. Would you still argue with the greenpeace? Maybe you just enjoy harming the environment because your selfish and aren't thinking about the generations after you.

  • The number of flights in and out of the UKhave been dropping since last year, BA have already reduced the number of flights to compensate. Wake up people, this is just a get rich scheme (at the expense of the environment).

  • theoretically, this plan is good, because the council would have to obtain cumpolsory purchase orders for each plot, but actually, they could just make it anyway and not bother, if you tried to take them to court, you would have to do so for each individual plot, and fight each case separately, which would cost a lotta money. im against this runway too, but i thought id just point out these flaws.

  • When the government applies for a compulsory purchase order robin429, there has to be a court hearing, in which they get to explain why they need the land so badly. But the owner of the land in question also gets to put their side of the story, so we (that's all 39,000 Airplotters so far) will be able to fight the sale on the grounds that saving ourselves from catastrophic climate change is more urgent that increasing the profits of BAA and British airways.

  • Hey Matty - I guess yr quite young and maybe haven't thought this through. Scientists reckon the world's climate is going to change dramatically over the next 100 years, maybe much sooner, if we don't get our CO2 emissions under control. Airplanes are the fastest growing source of these emissions.

So we either figure out a way to cut back our CO2 output or prepare for large parts of Britain to be flooded and the chaos that will ensue.

This doesn't mean no flying, but it does mean..

  • ... doing everything we can to reduce our carbon (CO2) output while there is still time to make a difference.

  • er, you say "greenpeace protest for fun i mean they just want us to have nothing" - why do you say this and what does it mean? You think these guys are protesting as a joke or cos they don't have anything better to do? Think again, please...

  • i mean Greenpeace just protest and they dont realise that we would have nothing if they got it theyre way and maybe greenpeace want to walk and cycle everywhere but lots of people like travelling in their cars, buses, motorcycles and most of all they like going abroad in the summer did you think of that?

  • the reason venus is hot is lots of CO2 and mars is cold cause it has very little CO2. we have just the right amount of CO2 to make life pleasant on earth. releasing more wont help.

  • they're never going to build that third runway, it is obvious.

  • I'm personally not bothered about anything ever :)

  • brilliant!

  • Greenpeace so stupid... Expansion will happen, stop being pussies.

  • @Slixr I know you postedt his here a while back. Did you watch the news last friday perchance? XD

  • Question...if there is no expansion, whats the effect if they build a whole new Airport?
