The parallax effect could be done just by having the camera as perspective, but setting it far away with a small FOV to retain the 2d look. Then the depth of the objects would just work when the camera moved.
Also it'd be cool if you could turn on physics on selected objects to do a quick settle
@Octamed true about the parallaxing thing, truth is tho I wanted it to only be for some things and not others, although my grass planes and objects have different Z values I still want them to behave as if they are on the same depth plane
