houlalalala les bons danseurs mazette !! salut à toi Alain ... super bien ta chaîne vidéos ... j'y trouve plein de choses musicalement qui me plaise bien ... @+ ?
To Txstoryteller.... cajun and zydeco is not the same. Born and raised in Mamou and play in a couple bands (play with a zydeco band every now and then and a cajun band most of the time)... not the same; similar genre but not the same
Well, its interesting and they can dance but that ain't Cajun. I am born and raised Cajun--been to dances and fais-do-dos all my life. This is more like Zydeco.
correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm almost 100% positive this is swing dancing.. and i'd know, i am a swing dancer.. they're absolutly amazing dancers can't deny that, beautiful! but i think they're swing dancing, unless swing and cajun share identical moves..
@tejanochico22 they do in fact share similar moves, but there is hardly ever any lifting moves. They were just spicing it up. I live in lafayette off of Congress street which is less than 5 minutes away from ULL where this takes place. I wish i could swing dance, its on my list!
A friend found this on U tube. We had no idea we were videoed and put on here!! What a nice compliment We Love Terry & the Zydeco Bad Boys!!! They make your feet just wanna move even if your in your clunky shoes and on uneven grass! God we love Zydeco!!!
im gonna have to agree with dbd1353, totally lindy hop...i dont see anything that would calssify it as cajun or zydeco, but then again thats just me and my two cents
geezz... they dancin and having a good time... dont worry bout bein technical! whether you doin the two step, cajun, or zydeco.. if you dancin in louisiana then you're doing good =)
That is some fancy Cajun dancin', but that' zydeco music, not Cajun. I've been to Louisiana; know the difference between the two. Cajun more fiddle/steel/French accordion (country sounding), zydeco more soul/pop/rock (standard or French accordion, electric guitars, heavy drum beat, even throw in a frottoir). :) Love both, though! :)
Um. No, not really. Cajun is more waltzes and two-steps. Zydeco is more black-Creole, R&B infused. Though, you are correct to say that the music was zydeco. "zydeco" is a misunderstanding, though. It is really "les haricots," (pronounced kinda like lay zydeco) or "beans." Believed to be founded from the song "les haricots sont pas sale" "the beans aren't salty."
@txstoryteller People call anything with "white people" in it in Louisiana "Cajun." So the music may be zydeco, but folks will call it Cajun cause u see "whites" dancing to it.
Although, both are 2-steps and began with the exact same roots and diverged only about 50 or 60 years ago.
@txstoryteller actually you cant categorize them and thats coming from a person who is french born and raised in louisiana im from the cajun country part of lafayette and i was raised in this culture like i said this music is unique it takes a spin all the time every song is a variable when it comes to what they sound like but most of what you said is right im glad you like our music you have good taste i hope you like our splendid cuisine as well byebye au revoir ami
This is in fact some of the best cajun dancing I've ever seen! I mean did you guys see the chubby dude walking past the screen holding a beer? Also notice how everyone is outside in what looks like a public park? Both are totally dead give aways for CAJUN all the way! The music however sounded a little bit Tejano rather than good ol' fashion CAJUN!
Sounds like Jeffrey Broussard, but doesn't look like him..Also, this is SWING DANCING, not either cajun or French/Creole Zydeco..Lindy hop is really what it is..Nice stuff, but nothing to do with Cajun dancing or the music they are listening to.
This pair are fantastic! Can't stay still when I hear that awesome music. If I could just get my daughter to dance with me like that, I'd die a happy man!!!
forgot to mention born and raised in southern Louisiana, yada yada yada. I know what I'm talking about.

@tejanochico22 You are right-it isn't true Cajun dancing. You have to look at the old folks to see that.

Fabulous dancing. Maybe not technically the shuffle-shuffle-step of Cajun, but then, if you're dancing and the music's playing, who cares?
Well, actually, the music's no way Cajun. ;-D

your right the music is more zydeco than anything.

They're not dancing zydeco, they're doing Lindy Hop and Tandem Charleston, which is swing dancing. Awesome dancing, but not zydeco.
