Excuse me if I'm wrong, but did a non-supercharged Diesel powered 205 run-of-the-mill 205 GRD (the most basic 205 model, using indirect injection 1.9L Diesel engine) get a lap time close to that of 3 British sports car? So then, one might wonder what the 205 Turbo D (it is an actual model, but with reinforced frame and brakes) or an actual mint condition 205 GTI 1.9would have pulled.

New Zealand has actually produced cars. Anyway, have a look through the British motoring history. Rovers, Austin Maxis, Morris Minors... simply the worst ever. I found this quite frustrating, despite knowing they are being sarcastic. There is little doubt that the British motoring industry suffered a bigger collapse than any other, to a point where they hardly produce anything these days, and Mini, Rolls Royce, Bentley etc. are all owned by Germans. The British could never really make cars properly, and I would have liked to have seen a Peugeot 205 Gti thrash the hell out of those pasty, tea-drinking old queenies.

And you have to realize what Britains did, there defence was really crutial in term of the defeat of Germany, and Americas involvement in ww2. If Germany would have defeated Britain, thay would have taken over Iceland as well, Iceland was used by USA as a pit stop to Europe, Germany would have done the same thing to go to USA.

That was a big burden for Britain.
