  • Also forgot to say, awsome cover, very cool man! 5 stars

  • Thanks for the comments. It is one of the great songs of the '60's I think.

  • My dad said they use to hum this all the time in Vietnam,he did 3 tours 198th infantry 66-70.

  • Thanks.

  • that rocks! very nice job my friend.

  • Thanks.

  • Awesome !! I loved it.

don't worry all my punk rock heroes would be bald male and old,if they were still alive(Ramones,Joe Strummer,Stiv Bators and ol Sid Vicious). It's the music that matters!!

and like Mr Strummer once said "always question authority"

  • Glad you liked it, Thanks.

  • I heard about a version of this song by Eric Burdon & the Animals, someone knows where I can find it?

But yours is very good too :)

  • Doesn't look like it's on YT.

  • This is great. Really great job.

  • Thanks.

  • Nice job especially the voice

  • Thanks very much for your comment.

  • Why does this only have 3,400 views!! its an awesome version of the song, i love your ukelele :D

  • The fact that I'm bald, male and old might have something to do with it.

  • Nahhhhhh, your skill and sound outweighs any negativity due to your appearance that someone could find :D

  • Thanks.

  • hey,i like your version...

  • Thanks.

  • As relivent today as it was then.

  • I agree.

  • 100% 5/5!! Great work! :D!

(In a positive way heh heh)

  • Believe it or not, I did used to have very long hair and wear jeans with holes and a flowery shirt and say "far out" a lot.

  • I'd forgotten about this song. I remember it well. Thank you for giving this song back to me. You did a fine job!!! Bless you.

  • It has always been a favourite of mine. I even bought the 45.

  • waow man i never imagined that cool man

  • another wonderful cover! i could just picture the 60's listening to the cover. i mean i wasnt alive but i can imagine.

you seem to favor your kailea ken ! wonderful!

  • Thanks Soobz. Yes, I like the Kanile'a lot.

  • Great Job!

  • Thanks very much.

  • A great rendition of a classic song!! Can I ask is the Uke a Concert or a Tenor?

    Thanks

  • Thank you. I'm playing a Kanile'a tenor.

  • Great cover of a wonderful song!

  • Thanks a lot, Kim.

  • great version of this song ken, nice work

  • Thanks K.

  • Jammin Ken. I've been practicing those bluegrass licks, and they're comming along nicely!

  • Terrific. Thanks.

  • This song was made for you Ken. And ... you even look a little bit like Barry McGuire.

  • Thank you, Darrell. Good to hear from you.

  • Wonderful, Ken. Such a pleasure to watch your videos.

  • Thank you, Mary-Anne.

  • What a great performance, great uke playing, great vocal, the little bit of echo is a nice touch. The audio quality is remarkably good. Did you record it seperately or just through the camera mike?

  • I use an ordinary compact still camera for the video and an inexpensive Zoom H2 Handy-recorder for the audio. I put it together using Windows Movie Maker.

  • Well then you have a masters touch. Like making a cheap uke sound like a Stradivarius. That is some excellent work.

  • Thank you very much, Steve.

  • Great sound, great song and great singing! A Dylan with a brittish accent.

  • Thanks again R. I've always loved this song.

  • Wonderful playing and singing Ken. I think this is one of your best vocal performances.

  • Thank you Derek. I've been meaning to do this one for a while.

  • One more amazing performance...although...I think you did even better in this one :)

    Loved your voice :)

    Take care.

  • Carlos, thank you.

  • lovely!!

  • Thanks.

  • Outstanding job. A little fan, picking, struming, quick dn-up-dn,C-Csus-G7sus,C-F-G progression with Am thrown in, and a voice to go along with it. I like your combination.

  • Thanks very much.

  • Like the Banjo, I think it's hard to make the uke sound angry. But the lyrics combined with your vocal does the trick.

  • Thanks Brad.

  • Perhaps the ultimate 60's protest song.

Yes, you're probably right about that.

I once heard Barry McGuire say

that he performed his first public song

when he learned the "G" chord on his guitar.

He said he was so pleased by the response

that he went ahead and learned "C" and "F".

    (I can relate!)

    I loved your rendition, Ken.

    Cool, man :0)

  • Thanks Shas.

  • This one took several takes, Adelle.

  • Great Cover, and a timely message.

  • Thanks very much.

  • Beautiful job Ken!!! :D

  • Thanks so much.

  • awesome job! keep up the good work.

  • Thanks. I will.

  • I post on here because you are awesome and respond back. :) plus all your vids are good too!

  • That's a kind comment. Thanks.

  • Great song pick and performance, Ken! I liked the way you varied the strumming a bit, threw in fingerpicking, etc.

  • Thanks very much.

  • Good job. You reminded me of Bob Dylan. Laid back, but with a little undertone of anger and revolution.

  • Well played! And so timely...

  • Thanks.

  • Alright, Ken! I loved your strums. Looked like you had fun with this and you brought me along for the ride.

  • Again, it's one of my all-time favourites. I actually bought the 45 in'65.

  • This is such a fantastic song and it deserves a fresh outing like this. Does anyone else find it weird and depressing that so many of these songs of disaffection still sound relevant forty odd years on?

Anyhoo. I really enjoyed your performance, as always Ken and attribute the customary 5 stars.

  • fantastic job on the vocals and strumming.

  • great job Ken .

  • Thanks Stephen.

  • Powerful Ken! Great job.

  • Thank you, Deach. The words are still powerful after all this time.
