Wait my friend works with capcom when they made part of resident evil 4 and they never mess up and start over once. Have you ever knew that it's pretty easy to make a fanmade demo? It is. All you need is editing skills like I have and I made a random spider man 1 fanmade game. It cost more money to do the full instead of part but it's cheap. If you asked me he made a fanmade silent night whatever game and made it sound from looking on google.
Screw it. They should release this, unfinished, for download. As fans I think we should still be able to experience a little taste of what never was. This demo proves that they really did wanna go back to the original horror roots of RE1, with the scare dials being turned up to 11. This setting/atmoshpere fits the term "haunted house' more than RE1 EVER could.

I understand what you mean when you say "ghosts in RE would be not good", but this version really is awsome! The gameplay is the way RE is supposed to be, and the atmosfear is very good. And think about it! If the storyline would be something like this: "Leon finds himself involved in a strange adventure fighting ghosts in a castle, but then you find out that's all allucinations caused by a new type of aerial virus." I would like that!

Well if they needed a plot, they could just, say that after joining the FBI or whatever Leon would join, they send him to infiltrate an Umbrella base anywhere in the World and get proof on them, later he gets discovered, and besides zombies getting loose, he had to fight the security of the base itself... well just some thoughts

The "ghost" or whatever isn't too weird for RE, creatures/people have been performing spontaneous generation constantly throughout the series.
This is a helluva lot creepier then the actual version. And everyone saying a ghost really? Who said it was a ghost? I mean look at half the crazy/weird powers creatures got in the other games. Not only that but he was shooting AND hitting it. I really wish we would've gotten something more a long the lines of this. I mean I loved RE:4 and played the hell out of it, but this would've kept it more in the survival horror and probably would've been more scary/creepy.

People gotta stop calling the Ganados, Zealots, and soldiers zombies because they never even died, they're just live people with parasites. Puppets if you may. The setting and atmosphere looks nice, but the actual gameplay mechanics seem unbearable. Even 10 years ago, RE games were considered clunky and unresponsive. I'm happy that RE4 came out the way it did, because it gave way to Dead Space, for example. And DS is in my opinion one of the best franchises of the current generation.
This version looks way more scarier just looks awesome wish they would take this concept and finish it. Looks 1000x better than pretty boring Resident Evil 5.
This is a good middle ground that they should have done for at least RE5...3rd person perspective like the original games and with scary aspects, but when aiming, turns into the behind the back shooter.
ALL they had to do was make a small story change with the ghosts and make it illusions or something from the virus, They didnt need to scrap the whole fucking game. Assholes. Oh well, capcom has fallen and its only gonna get worse.
I can understand why this direction was not taken for the final version of the game. It seems to play like the first three, a style which many dislike. I would, however, like to see them take this original concept and expand upon it, with the game play that they used for the final version of RE4.
As cool as this game looks, I only really enjoyed the gameplay aspect of this video for the first minute or so when the gameplay resembles more of what we see in the RE4 that we have presently. Other than that the rest looks like a spruced up version of the same ol' s*** we found in all the previous games....

I didn't like how the newer RE games play, so this version could easily win me than the one that was released. That game lost a lot of the survival horror theme that made the earlier games great, like limited ammunition, some adventure elements (including puzzles to solve), narrow environments (made getting past enemies challenging), a well placed fixed camera, large variety of enemies, etc.
Mainly cos after being a rookie cop for two days, he found shot gun parts and magnum parts and then proceeded to blast the shit out of horrific things only conceivable by a Japanese mind. Ergo, Leon is a total baller. :D
why the hell did they cancel that part of the game ?! i hate it that the game is becoming more sci-fi or war game , that is not what RE used to be and that is not why many people loved RE , i hope they drop that and get back to the horror elements
this looks more like if Capcom was behind Eternal Darkness, the whole sanity thing and the game messing with your head. I like how RE4 turned out really, and the Resident Evil series is sci-fi based, adding in supernatural elements would just drift it away from it's roots. so viruses and parasites make a lot more sense when ya look at it, I mean, ghosts are considered supernatural, even with scientific research going into finding out what ghosts truely are.
I agree. Resident Evil should be a really great sci-fi shooter instead of a horror game. I watched all Resident Evil movies including Degeneration and they are all not too scary. One thing that Resident Evil must keep is that THE SHOCKING MOMENTS
@pariastabendesa yeah, the live action movies sucked more than a black hole though. RE4 had considerable shock value, especially in the Krauser conversation, and if you suddenly walked into a chainsaw Ganados' path, or if one snuck up on you. there was a lot of shock value in the RE4 that came out, this video was a version that steeped into the psychological thriller which was far from what Resident Evil was about, and plastic/wooden dolls coming to life was more a fantasy and magic thing.
This version looks much much better! I was so disappointed when they announced that they scrapped it in favour of sending Leon to Spain to shoot some angry villagers. Now that I think of it, didn't they do the same with Resident Evil 2? It's a Leon thing!!!

This would have been indeed a hell of a lot scarier but honestly I'm glad they chose not to go with it. The idea simply doesn't fit the concept of Resident Evil, since it deals with viral experimentation, not paranormal entities.

People! They cancelled this one because Resident Evil is all about genetic experiments, viruses, and that gay parasite crap. Not ghosts. Aw, this version looks soooooo much better than the current one! Why couldn't have this been the one they released?!?! There aren't any good scary games anymore, now it's all about how many monsters or ghosts you can kill. What happened to suspense games that were actually scary, like Alone in the Dark or Haunting Ground?
@LleroyT Probably because it was too similar in style to RE2, which wouldn't have been too bad. I loved RE2's combat, but didn't like the controls or gameplay.
This was not a cancelled version, but in fact a beta for what the original RE4 was supposed to look like, but yes, the graphics do seem more polished in this version, but the aiming looks like shite, and if the graphics and premise had stayed, then maybe this game could have kicked balls even more at the VGA.

I'm just guessing here, but i'm going to assume that they were running off a redesign of the Resident Evil 1 engine thus the graphics would be more pictured images, then the RE4 engine was free range so it was an entirely different engine thus the less sharp pictured graphics etc...just a guess.

One of the best zombie games is Cold Fear because the zombies are actually zombies. in re4 the "zombies" just act like dumb people.

The setting and atmosphere looks nice, but the actual gameplay mechanics seem unbearable. Even 10 years ago, RE games were considered clunky and unresponsive. I'm happy that RE4 came out the way it did, because it gave way to Dead Space, for example. And DS is in my opinion one of the best franchises of the current generation.

This is a good middle ground that they should have done for at least RE5...3rd person perspective like the original games and with scary aspects, but when aiming, turns into the behind the back shooter.

ALL they had to do was make a small story change with the ghosts and make it illusions or something from the virus, They didnt need to scrap the whole fucking game. Assholes. Oh well, capcom has fallen and its only gonna get worse.

I can understand why this direction was not taken for the final version of the game. It seems to play like the first three, a style which many dislike. I would, however, like to see them take this original concept and expand upon it, with the game play that they used for the final version of RE4.

As cool as this game looks, I only really enjoyed the gameplay aspect of this video for the first minute or so when the gameplay resembles more of what we see in the RE4 that we have presently. Other than that the rest looks like a spruced up version of the same ol' s*** we found in all the previous games....

I didn't like how the newer RE games play, so this version could easily win me than the one that was released. That game lost a lot of the survival horror theme that made the earlier games great, like limited ammunition, some adventure elements (including puzzles to solve), narrow environments (made getting past enemies challenging), a well placed fixed camera, large variety of enemies, etc.

this looks more like if Capcom was behind Eternal Darkness, the whole sanity thing and the game messing with your head. I like how RE4 turned out really, and the Resident Evil series is sci-fi based, adding in supernatural elements would just drift it away from it's roots. so viruses and parasites make a lot more sense when ya look at it, I mean, ghosts are considered supernatural, even with scientific research going into finding out what ghosts truely are.

@pariastabendesa yeah, the live action movies sucked more than a black hole though. RE4 had considerable shock value, especially in the Krauser conversation, and if you suddenly walked into a chainsaw Ganados' path, or if one snuck up on you. there was a lot of shock value in the RE4 that came out, this video was a version that steeped into the psychological thriller which was far from what Resident Evil was about, and plastic/wooden dolls coming to life was more a fantasy and magic thing.

This would have been indeed a hell of a lot scarier but honestly I'm glad they chose not to go with it. The idea simply doesn't fit the concept of Resident Evil, since it deals with viral experimentation, not paranormal entities.

Cause if you saw anything else about the game it was about paranormal stuff. It mentioned something about the progenitor virus then it wasn't mentioned again. I'm glad they ditched this. But I would have liked re4 to be a bit scarier...same with re5

This was not a cancelled version, but in fact a beta for what the original RE4 was supposed to look like, but yes, the graphics do seem more polished in this version, but the aiming looks like shite, and if the graphics and premise had stayed, then maybe this game could have kicked balls even more at the VGA.

I'm just guessing here, but i'm going to assume that they were running off a redesign of the Resident Evil 1 engine thus the graphics would be more pictured images, then the RE4 engine was free range so it was an entirely different engine thus the less sharp pictured graphics etc...just a guess.
