Yes, Tom, it IS weird to hear this coming from you. And to agree with you here is to disagree with all your prior special make-up fx work. There is no secret formula; not showing gore doesn't automatically equal "more effective." Different projects, different approaches. In this case, seeing the zombie kid tear her mother's throat out wouldn't have made the film better but it sure would have distracted from how how generic and workmanship-like your directing is.

The original's little girl zombie was WAY worse. She took that garden tool and mercilessly gutted her mother with it. All she did in the new one was take a bite out of her mother.

I don't know but I think that just might be just because the MPAA seriously cut their stuff and thats how they cope with it.

i'd rather not encourage masochistic bastards by bombarding them with gore that will only encourage them to do violence. and in this day and age, everyone's seen guts, so it's redundant to show guts all the time. not only that, but you're wasting time by showing guts when you could be focusing on character development, which is what really matters in a movie.

Why do you narrow it to either/or?Death/torture scenes don't comprise the whole movie, there is plenty of time for both character development and gore. And how is it redundant when there would be alot of blood in real life? If done right it adds realism. And if masochistic people get some kinda sadistic pleasure out of the gre then thats their problem, not the filmmakers.

everybody knows what blood and guts looks like, so it's pointless to show them. just have the camera point to something else insteat of lingering on the dismemberment and cunsumption of guts for nearly fifteen minutes at a time like in land of the dead or dawn or day of the dead. That's why I like the Dawn of the Dead remake better because you don't have to SEE someone get eaten by zombies to know that they were eaten.

yeah i know what you mean, but the new dawn of the dead didn't even allow time for a scare. i mean the zombies RAN... i didn't like the new dawn of the dead, because i didn't have to focus
