There's no doubt in my mind that, had he lived, Duncan Edwards would have been the man leading England to the World Cup in 1966. He isn't given the recognition he deserves because he never reached his full potential. But if he had, he would have been spoken in the same breath as the best defenders of all time. I.E. Moore, Maldini, Carlos Alberto.
My Mom was going out with Duncan when they both lived down the Priory and before he was trialed by MUFC. She said that he always had a ball with him and was forever tapping it up on his foot etc. He was signed by MUFC as a young teenager and they lost touch after that.

LOVE the pic @ about 2:11 of Boom-Boom training w/Matthews on England duty. Is the guy on the right Wilf Mannion? It's hard 2 tell w/the upload res. & the the grainy b&w photo. Plus. I'm an old, half-blind codger anyway! ;D

THE LEGEND FAMILY....NO the man on the right isn't Wilf Mannion...known as "Golden Boy" for his silky skills as an inside forward... wonderful player would be PRICELESS in todays market.
Guy on the right is WILLIAM AMBROSE WRIGHT...known as BILLY WRIGHT of Wolverhamprton Wanderers and ENGLAND. He was the first player to get 100 caps for England - eventually got 105and captained us 90 times. An AMAZING RECORD. GREAT player. Married to Joy Beverley of 50's music stars "The BEVERLEY SISTERS.

@billstroller: Hey, thanx for the info mate, I know who Wright was: he was one of my fave England players & I saw him play for both Wolves & England on more than one occaison. IK who Mannion was as well, I saw the "GB" play live also. I just couldn't make out who it was in the still w/Big Dunc & Sir Stan. But, I do appreciate your help in identifying Wright in the photo/still.

I was taught the history at 5 years old at The Priory Primary school ,the same school Duncan went to 40 years earlier, I still hope the kid's are still being taught about him there today as the story is very moving and it turned me in to a Manchester United fan forever.
I always shed a tear when i watch old footage of him as nobody in my life as inspired more than our local Hero Duncan Edwards R.I.P

i've seen at least 3 videos of him, there was barely some footage of actual football games in 'em but still i can feel the bond between us.
we may look different, but he has a nick for strange trousers just like me and i like the way he cuts his hair, if i had hair like his i probably would cut it in a similiar way some day.
