Your statements are far too general. I'm very well informed. UA has basically no respectable science, technology, engineering or mathematics programs. Auburn is very well known and respected nationally in these areas, particularly in undergraduate education in these disciplines.
Negate endowment size differences and AU jumps ahead of UA. Auburn's rep is based on academics, UA's more on money provided by a state legislature of mostly UA alums too stupid to rewrite a broken state constitution.
UA receives more money per student than does Auburn. Or at least that was the situation when I was in undergraduate study there. Regardless, both schools are underfunded.
The bottom line is that UA's VERY slight edge in USNWR has nothing to do with the quality of faculty, students, or academic programs. It is ONLY due to the difference in endowments, and the truth of the matter is that in most of the disciplines that Auburn has, the Auburn degree is far more respected.

Not just an "Au barn" type, but also a Vanderbilt Commodore with a doctorate in engineering and faculty job at a southern ivy.
Whether you like it or not, in all things math, science or engineering, UA is one or the least highly regarded schools anywhere, while AU and MSU have rock solid reputations.

Being on the faculty is even better. NASA has done a LOT of useful things, and if we ever lost our space dominance, it would make military dominance much, much harder.
I manage a hypersonics design optimization and uncertainty quantification project with NASA, and the Air Force also wants a two stage to orbit vehicle itself. Those are long term visions, but the research has to be done now to make them reality.

Hey MPM - You need to correct you statement to say that to YOU, that is your uninformed opinion of The University of Alabama. This is because Bama is the highest ranked and largest institution of higher education in the state of Alabama, the 3rd highest ranked in the SEC behind Florida and UGA and is 39th best public insitution in the country. Auburn is 2nd in the state in both quality and size and is well back nationally.
Now, get your head out the sand and take a nice dose of reality.

Your statements are far too general. I'm very well informed. UA has basically no respectable science, technology, engineering or mathematics programs. Auburn is very well known and respected nationally in these areas, particularly in undergraduate education in these disciplines.
Negate endowment size differences and AU jumps ahead of UA. Auburn's rep is based on academics, UA's more on money provided by a state legislature of mostly UA alums too stupid to rewrite a broken state constitution.

I know this to be a fact. Both Universities are state-run public institutions.
Bama does have more funding from Alumni, however. Which has nothing to do with the Legislature.

UA receives more money per student than does Auburn. Or at least that was the situation when I was in undergraduate study there. Regardless, both schools are underfunded.
The bottom line is that UA's VERY slight edge in USNWR has nothing to do with the quality of faculty, students, or academic programs. It is ONLY due to the difference in endowments, and the truth of the matter is that in most of the disciplines that Auburn has, the Auburn degree is far more respected.

AU has a solid national reputation in all things STEM. We have 500 NASA engineers and six NASA astronauts. We have the CEO of Time Warner and Verizon in our alumni. That's because an A&M school is focused on solving problems, not just communicating about them.

Have you even been to Auburn? The stadium is basically full up win or lose. Even in 1998 and 1999, two of the worst years, the stadium was nearly full up. That's because Auburn is a lot more than a football team.
But to you sidewalk alumni of UAT, loyalty to a school matters nothing. That's why all of a sudden Bammers came out from under their rocks after the Iron bowl. I never knew UAT had so many "alumni".

Auburn has been harder to get into the past years because of the increasing student population. The harder a school to get into, the less kids. Alabama is raising its ACT soon and I'm glad I got in when I did because I only made a 24. My friends at Auburn said they're lowering it soon to let more students in again, but thats just what they said.

Auburn's campus isn't very large so I guess having 25000 kids, give or take, was a mad house and a hassle for parking. My friends said on their MWF classes you could not move in the place. Alabama was the same way. It was always overcrowded everywhere. Well to answer your question about football, Alabama has 12 National Championships, 21 SEC Championships and a winning record against every team in the SEC. Did you go to AU?

Chizik will beat Bama as regularly as Saban beats Chizik. Might take a season or two. But it will be like it was in the early 1980's- trading wins.
Chizik is anything but afraid of Saban. He kicked his ass the last time he showed up in Jordan Hare. Our coordinators and assistant coaches are head and shoulders above Saban's. Everyone is on the same page. We will get two of the top 3 RB's in the next year's class. We will outrecruit Bama next class.
Healthy AU O-line = interesting IB in 2009.

Auburn produces the overwhelmingly vast majority of competent engineers in this state. As for NASA, oh that's right, they do unimportant stuff like design and build satellites that provide everything from intelligence to weather info to communications. Auburn creates the engineers that create the backbone of the state's economy.
You guys should be thankful for football because everything else over there is a wet fart of a Cowpie.

Well my Grandfather is District Attorney and my Dad aswell and they both are graduates from UA in Business and Law..Without them Alabama would run amuck and they are part of the reason that ALabama is low in crime rate..You are saying they are unimportant..Alabama also produces most of the educators in this state aswell..what would we do without education? Or Businesses, many graduates from ALabama major in Management..TRUST ME Auburn isnt the only school in ALabama with a good education system

Not intended for you, but you have never seen the Arboretum, the president's house, Samford Lawn, RBD library, or any of the beautiful landscape architecture surrounding the buildings on campus.
