Her family referred to her as a "Wild Child" and urged her husband to report the car stolen.
He never did. He is dead and the son lives in Vancouver. She was not the most stable person by any stretch of the imagination. We have 2 other more tragic deaths that remain unsolved and bodies were found.
Too bad that new Yorker won't be restored the person couldve lost control in a bad storm and drove off the cliff they saw only one person was found so there's no sign of foul play inside of car where the person made her drive off or she commit suicide but there's a 75% chance a bad storm and nobody knew where she went a mystery maybe some evidence from the past a missing woman claims to be this woman in this lake
A 1964 4 door Chrysler New Yorker. i can tell by the body lines and the C pliiar and trim. ive been around alot of them and took part in restoring one. back then alot of roads like that believe it or not did not have crash barriers. she could have been driving along in a storm and lost control of the vechile and wrecked itno the lake?? or she could have been driven off of the road by somebody?? maybe foul play?? the licens plates might have rusted off overtime. after hitting the water??
you know, they say it's hard to identify the car as it's a Chrysler....but as soon as I saw the car, I knew it was a 63 or 64 Chrysler, they only had that style two years. and yes, you can see the tail lights and it's definitely a 64, either a New Yorker or a Windsor. I guess I'm stating the obvious, but clearly it crashed, looks like a front end into something and then landing on the roof...it's a hardtop body style so it would easily crush.
they said no license plate?....so it was driving along the road without a plate? or was the plate removed to keep from being tracked down then pushed over the cliff?
@johncartelli No. She said that maybe even if the number plate WAS missing, that they could still check the VIN and find a name - who knows. Not a quote, but there never was mention that the plate was actually missing.
“The remains are that of a 20-year-old British Columbia woman who is believed to have disappeared in November, 1972. The woman’s family has been advised by Penticton RCMP,” he said.
“There is no foul play suspected and thus the case is being turned over to the BC Coroner Service for any further action or follow up,” he said.
In Oklahoma City two women (a mother and daughter) that had been missing for 40 yrs were found in their car in a lake after a drought had lowered the level of the water.
The car was a brand new Cadillac (when it went in the water).
They were just a few miles from their home.
They had been declared dead a few years earlier and the Life Insurance had been paid.
LOL......early chrysler.....no wonder it ended up flying off the road. Those handled terrible. When I bought my 62 newport I had to install a rear anti-sway bar, spring assist heavy shocks and steel belted radials just to get it to stay on the road
Heh...yeah...I had a '65 Chrysler 300 L (carefully restored and everything replaced..best possible parts) and that thing would not steer straight no matter what I did to it.
When you hit railroad tracks or a speed bump it just went wherever it wanted.
@hammerogod yeah, before I did all the non stock upgrades to my 62 chrysler.....if you took your eyes off the road for a split second to change the radio station you would be in the next lane. Another thing that may have been an issue is Chrysler tinted the windshields way too dark. MIne had a progressive tint that started very dark at the top and gradually got lighter. It was great on a sunny day but at night It was so dark I had to hunch down in the seat to see below the tint
@TierodMcslush yeah, it's either a 1963 or 64.....that body design was only used for 2 years. It definately is not a 1962 or earlier...and it definately is not 1965 and up
@fuzzaun no, it's not a Chrysler "imperial", but it is either a 1963 or 64 chrysler. I know chrysler products very well from this particular era as I have owned them. But you deserve credit for your car spotting knowledge. The average person would have absolutely no idea what it was
@Mechknight73 yes they did ,a young mother ,she went missing early 70 s ,family finnally knows what happened,i guess she lost control on the highway and was there ever since
This is weird , I've been to that lake a few times, and possibly been over the area on a jet ski.. But that Map is out of scale Skaha lake is right on the South side of Penticton. and the beach shown is very shallow you can walk out about 100 feet before you go under.
@were562 No its not I have a friend who lives on the south end of Skaha lake. this was found at the north end of Penticton as you come in from Keremeos.
The Beach I refered to is near the end of the Channel run by the Airport.
anybody going to restore that car?

It was a party girl from Princeton, she had a kid quite young and this was her husband's car.
She drove to Kelowna in a snow storm.
Her son is still alive.

When you hit railroad tracks or a speed bump it just went wherever it wanted.
At speeds above 40 it was a death trap.
And it ate suspension parts.
Nasty car.

It's so weird to lose someone and suddenly that someone get found after so many years in a sexy early 60's submerged Chrysler.
Imagine how many things happened since then,so much action, the 70's,the 80's,the disco, new wave, births, the sunshine miami beach in the mid 80's...
And all those things got missed by that someone cause when all those things were happening he/she was rotting on the bottom of that river.
I just don't feel right for this.
