Something tells me I'm not going to be as fortunate. I dropped a glass of wine on my baby last night except instead of spilling on the keys, it hit the far back end and went in through the vented area (right under the "Macbook Pro" title on the screen). The computer went off immediately. Any suggestions? I took off the back and cleaned up whatever wine I could see. My laptop is currently sitting in a pile of rice and I'm hoping it'll suck out most of it. But I'm worried that it's already fried.
That picture at the end of the video made my day man! my mums friend spilt some chanpagne onto my macbook pro and all i done was wiped the liquid i could see. I have left it for a few months now thinking i had no chance, but thought that id do abit of research. When i pulg it in the charger indicator on the carger itself goes green then straight to orange after about 10 seconds. Will the liquid have just gone into my keyboard or do you think the motherboard would have fried ? please help guys !
@MarcusFITcoThe light stays orange until the battery is fully charged, then it should turn back to green. My question would be does it ever come on and if so what problems do you see. If it's not coming on at all, you either have a power supply or motherboard defect. In that case my suggestion would be to take it to the nearest Apple store. Also, you may have to clean the keyboard if the liquid left residue. Check for sticking keys, that was the trouble when my Mac had a drinking problem.
@wjmears What do you mean clean the keys. will that make a difference ? and yeah, basically it does not turn on. not even a squeak. However i removed the harddrive, i am being dumb or do you need the harddrive to turn it on. sorry i know more about motocross bike than computers. :)
Can you post a video on taking apart the back so i can clean my keyboard too :'( I spilled hot chocolate and I thought taking out the back to try to clean the keys would be relatively simple
@adrianvilcan I cleaned the keys with contact cleaner. I thought I might have to replace the keyboard but the contact cleaner did the job. Apple does a great job of protecting the circuitry from spills with a plastic sheet under the keyboard. Without that the motherboard probably would have been fried.
