  • Hi Sir, I am coming to Bangkok from Hong Kong on December 19th to December 23 2011. Can you tell me how can I get MRT from BKK Suvarnabhumi Airport to City Centre of Bangkok like Siam part. Thanks.

  • This video is highly recommended especially for first time visitors to Thailand (like myself).

  • Is ever sad when u leave thailand :'(

  • wow the girl you talk to is cute.

  • i love swiss valley hip resort in ratchburi

  • so yes

  • A direct walkway from Makkasan Station (the city terminal where you can check in and load your luggages [beginning Jan 4 2011] and take the Express Line to [and from] the airport) to MRT (subway) Petchaburi Station will be completed and open in 2011.

The authority is working to improve the service since its first opening in August 2010. Hope it will get more convenient then.

  • man, is that the uwp v1 mic you're using throught the whole video? I'm impressed and thinking of buying one. Do you think it would be ok for selling instructional golf videos while out on the course?

  • @blackbelt1123 Yes I shoot all my vids now with the Sony UWP. Check out the flight of the gibbon video. At certain times I was over 100 feet away from my cameraman and yet the mic worked perfectly.

  • Do you know if there is free WiFi at Suvarnabhumi, i always hate the 3 hours i have to wait when i arrive and until i get my flight to Chiang Mai.

  • @llothar68 I think there is wifi available but I don't think it's free.

  • @thaifaq nothing is free huh lolol :P

  • @thaifaq Yes and you have to pay by a credit card but it's not that expensive 50THB/Hour i guess

  • Took the Phaya Thai service, the other day mostly locals on the train but if you need to transfer to the BTS with luggage its a pain as I had to cross the SRT tracks to get to the stairs up to the BTS (No escalator but at least Phaya Thai BTS station is visible from the Airport link exit)

  • FINALLY! they kept pushing back the date I was beginning to think they were never going to finish it. Do you know the hours it runs?

  • @kangrena213 Operating hours are same as all the other trains. 6:00AM - 12:00AM.

  • Wow! Thanks dude! Finally the train from airport to city is now open. The last time i was there it is still under construction. Better way to travel to the heart of bkk. I wonder what's the operating hours of the train?

  • I am going to Bangkok tomorrow, I mean on 13 Oct,2010. I was really planning to take airport link rail to go to Phaya Thai, then change line to BTS Phaya Thai to Siam Station, but after seeing this video... I am also wondering to be lost...lolzzz.

I am going to stay in an apartment at Siam Square, what do you suggest, should I take airport link rail and then Phaya Thai BTS or simply take a Taxi... ? and yes, I am going alone... with not much luggage.., waiting for your quick reply...

  • @baloch101 I would take the city line from the airport and get off at Phaya Thai. Phaya Thai station is very well laid out and you should have no problems transferring to the BTS line. Siam station is only a couple stops after Phaya Thai.

Traffic around Siam is always a bitch so in this case I think taking a taxi would be more of a hassle. Take the train, it will be very easy and cheaper!

  • @CeeMichael Very easy. In the opening of the video that is Phaya Thai station behind me and in front of me is the city line station. So you can easily walk from one to the other.

  • It helps....! It helps a lot... not to be lost at Makasan or whatever you ended up but to go to Phaya Thai instead ... lloll

  • We drove past one of the stations a few days after it opened. It looked impossible to get into.lol

I came back to BKK the week after it opened, but I stuck with the taxi, the reason being 1, I was shattered after a long haul flight 2, the lines (ARL and MRT) didnt seem to be anywhere near each other (like you experienced). For me its still all about the taxis.

  • Oh im looking forward to using it :)

oh and getting lost i n BKK is always a good experience... i love that cauz you can just hop into a taxi and tell them to drive you back home ;) and it will hardly ever bee more than 150B or sth ;)

  • Oh im looking forward to using it :)

  • Do you know how close Phaya Thai or Makkasan station is to Nana Soi 4? I will check out the website for Suvarnabumi Airport website to see if I can get more information. My grandfather always comes to get my mom & I when we come to visit. He is in his 70s so I have to become more self sufficient about getting around the city. I know there will be one day when I will have to get to Bangkok and then to Korat without his help especially if he passes away.Once there he drives,I the take taxi or BTS

  • @koulanie73 From Phaya Thai station you are 5 stations away from Nana. If you get off at Makkasan you'll need to transfer to the MRT line, get off 1 stop later at Sukhumvit and then transfer again to the BTS and then you are 1 stop away from Nana. My advise would be to go to Phaya Thai.

  • The connection bridge linking Makkasan and Phetchaburi stations is still being constructed and is expected to be ready in early 2011. The purpose of having an Express Line and Makkasan City Air Terminal is to allow passengers to check in their baggage in town and ride the train to the airport. Like a lot of things in Thailand, it will eventually be up and running, but not right from the beginning. You can't have a rail link to the doorstep of every hotel in town, so you can't please everybody.

  • Oh and I forgot to mention that It's much safer moneywise for tourists. Because of the fixed prize there's no chance of being "cheated on'... i.e. by taxi drivers who will maybe take longer routes for some extra baths. (No racism intended against thai people... Im thai myself :))

  • @aromchuen Good point about the scams. As I've mentioned many times on my podcast I rarely seem to get scammed by taxis so I tend to forget that it happens but it certainly is a concern. The fixed price for the rail link is definitely a strong selling point.

  • In my opinion, this is pretty much a no-brainer. The link is brand new, more comfortable than the bumpy thai roads and waaaay cheaper. :)
