"Isn't Schaefer beer owned by Miller beer nowadays?"
"Stroh was acquired by Pabst Brewing Company in 1999.Schaefer continues as a Pabst label."
Both can be answered by: Schaefer (which can still be bought in Puerto Rico after all these years) is now a Pabst brand, but they don't make their own beer nowadays (that may change w/today's new mgmt. though), Miller makes all Pabst beers under contract, so BOTH are involved.
@heine71 According to Wikipedia Schaefer was acquired by Stroh Brewing Company in 1981. Stroh was acquired by Pabst Brewing Company in 1999.Schaefer continues as a Pabst label.
I've drank Schaefer's and I've drank Rheingold. Now I'm told neither is in business. They were both good beer. But had to quit beer a few years ago and switched to red wine. Now am told I must also give that up... Ahh the good old days... ;-)
As with Lena Horne, "Satchmo" was persuaded to sing the famous Schaefer jingle for radio spots (in the style of his famous rendition of "Hello Dolly"), around 1965. Louis would endorse anything if a) he liked the product, and b) the fee was appropriate. I can imagine him tossing off a few cold ones after recording this...
Hiya Jan,it's an old American radio commercial for a beer you could only get over there,so it was never used here.I'm glad you liked Mr. Armstrong singing about it,cheeerss,,Mick

The breweries are gone, but the beers are still around, brewed by others. Louie did a great Chrysler Plymouth jingle around 1969.

Actually, Rheingold beer is being made again. There is some stores here in Michigan that sell it in longneck six packs.
