I am writing a death metal song that I want to record. I tried recording a line input into Sony Vegas though an Alesis mixer (mid scooped EQ) with a simple distortion pedal. It sounds good in the amp, but it sounded like crap in the recording. I have Sony Acid Music Pro though and am thinking of using that instead. Does it offer any benefits? Also, I am thinking of using a condenser mic to my amp to record instead of a line. How did you record this, it sounds really good.

@turquoiseguy hey, i recorded this with my vox tonelab st with a usb interface. it's ok but the sound is not like i want. The best opinion is, that u buy a usb interface (pod farm) or something else, it would be the best. Cheers

@Painfulguitarist Sorry, I am mainly a drummer and don't know much about guitars. What exactly is a USB interface? My pedal has a USB out, but I don't think that is what you are talking about.

My pedal is fairly good and provides nice distortion. I also have an equalizer and compressor that really help. It usually fails when I actually record it. I have never tried mic recording but will today.
