@PhotographerJan Well probably because you don't clear planes for taxiways or runways. Try reading the instructions....or are "words" too complicated for you?
Really cool game, but I think you should add STAR (Standard terminal arrival route), it is like that in the real world. The planes will then turn at the right fixes, VORs and so on itself. Another thing that should be fixed is that the planes intercept the localizer correctly.
I can get them to take off ok... I can keep them from crashing ok... but I am not get them to land!!!!!!! They just fly over top and off screen!!! GRRRR LAND BASTARDS!!!!!! Can you help...

Ok I am new to this. Kind of a head-spinner, but cool. How do I assign what runway the plane to land on ? Do I issue the C L (cleared to land) then runway heading like 22L ?
Excellent atc sim. I've playing this for 2weeks now. It is very addictive. I have playing it on my iPhone and it works pretty good but not asgood as the pc. Jay keep up the ggod work.
I made a stupid mistake. I cleared a plane for takeoff and I was waiting for about 3 minutes for him to takeoff then I realized the sim was paused....I feel pretty dumb.
For those having trouble with missed approaches, you have to give the plane a good amount of space (and make sure it's not going too fast), get it on final (pointing straight at the end of the runway), and then give clearance to land. If it says "cleared to land" they should get it and land. If it says they're cleared to intercept, they may still get it, but that's the only situation in which I've had them have to go around.
im having a heck of a time trying to land these places... they don't seem to go the way i tell them too when i put in 270 for 27L ... it seems way off...... what am i doing wrong??
im having a heck of a time trying to land these places... they don't seem to go the way i tell them too when i put in 270 for 27L ... it seems way off...... what am i doing wrong??
pls help me! when i tell them to take-off, and when i told them already the altitude and where to fly after take-off, they don't take-off! nothing happens.. what should i do?
Get the plane more or less in line with the runway, pointing roughly in the right direction, and then issue the "L" command.
If you still have trouble, take them as low as possible and as close to the edge of thr screen as possible, and issue the landing clearance out there. Once that starts working, you can gradually bring them in closer and higher.
obviously lockeymisha was expecting to jump online and do the real thing with a free online game. setting yourself up for a lifetime of dissapointment there mate.
If I remember correctly, you do not have to have perfect alignment to issue a land (L) command but you do have to have the flt at the most 3000ft, within 60 degrees of center line of run way and issue the L command sometime before the flt intercepts the airport. What that sometime is I don't remember but you get the hang of it very quickly. Just remember to stack correctly and setup your departs to leave between landings. Keep all flts at least 1000ft apart and you'll do fine.
If your flt is on course to land and you do not issue a command to land or if the flt is too high to land the the flt will over shoot. It is then your responsibility to course correct and set up for the flt to land.
So lets say a plane is 15mi out and landing on runway 9L. The plane is on a current heading of 180 (S) turn him/her to intercept the center line with a heading of 160 about 1 mile (estimate here) from the centerline.
Then give the plane a landing clearance and it should get it right on the runway.
This is how it is done in the real world:
FDX340 you are 9 miles from (FIX NAME) turn left heading 160 maintain 3K till establish. Cleared ILS Runway 9L app. :)
Are you saying that the planes accept the "L" command to land, but then go around?
If so, take them as low as possible, and as close to the edge of thr screen as possible, and issue the landing clearance out there. Once that starts working, you can gradually bring them in closer and higher.
Or, if you mean that they don't accept the "L" command at all, then flyingzuchs has the right answer. Get the plane more or less in line with the runway, pointing roughly in the right direction, and then issue the "L" command.
most of the time, the airplanes are too high to descend fast enough, so you have to tour them around the airport till they reach the required altitude to land !
Line them up. Then, when they are at like 2 thousand feet (withen 3 thousand feet of the ground, at chicago o hare its 672 feet so around 2 thousand should be good) and then type [FLIGHTID] L [RunwayID]
i tried to issue a land command on downwind but it doesn't work, it only works when they are heading to be "established" on the localizer or alligned with the runway
I've been playing this for a couple of months and really enjoy it. When I type "scale" the rings show up. Are these spaced at 3 miles and should this be the minimum separation? tnx good fun
I never knew you could position and hold with command "h" until I saw this. You should add that on the website instructions. Makes a worlds of difference. Thanks for the awesome game. I'm hooked!
So do you get there ID in the top right and just put a H on the right for the the plane too hold????????.

SO ADDICTIVE
BTW nobody mentions the EXPEDITE COMMAND here.
ANYID c x ex
were x stands for flightlevel.
You can make them climb and descend twice as fast when separation requires you to respond quickly.
Though its not very classy to do so for passenger comfort reasons. Differential pressure can bust your eardrums. :-(

AustinKnightOwner 2 years ago
Correction to last comment: Landing (L) can only be accepted if flt is at 2000ft not 3000ft as I post earlier.
AustinKnightOwner 2 years ago
If I remember correctly, you do not have to have perfect alignment to issue a land (L) command but you do have to have the flt at the most 3000ft, within 60 degrees of center line of run way and issue the L command sometime before the flt intercepts the airport. Keep all flts at least 1000ft apart and you'll do fine.
AustinKnightOwner 2 years ago
For anglofin21:
ANYID C 035 = Set course to 035 degrees
ANYID C 3 = Cleared to 3,000 ft.
ANYID C 12 = Cleared to 12,000 ft.
ANYID C OBK = Cleared to OBK (Northbrook) VOR station. set course to OBK.
ANYID L 27R = Cleared to intercept and land on runway 27R.
Headings require 3 digits 040, 180, 270 etc
Altitude reqs 1 or 2 digits.
Use the keyboard to enter commands, examples above should give you a good idea on how and what to enter.
AustinKnightOwner 2 years ago
If your flt is on course to land and you do not issue a command to land or if the flt is too high to land the the flt will over shoot. It is then your responsibility to course correct and set up for the flt to land.

turn them early enough.

joker71496 2 years ago
Clear them to a low altitude, send them to the downwind side of the runway you plan to land them on, and then issue the land command. For example:
SWA113 C 2 Cleared to 2,000 feet.
SWA113 C 080 Cleared to compass heading 80° degrees.
SWA113 L 12R Cleared to land on runway 12R.
jaylink1971 2 years ago
i try that but they don't respond, do they have to be 2000ft above the runway altitude?
anush10 2 years ago
Arrivals must be within 3,000 ft of ground level to accept a landing clearance.

i tried to issue a land command on downwind but it doesn't work, it only works when they are heading to be "established" on the localizer or alligned with the runway
