These engines have aggressive cam profiles and you'll hear the lifters right after startup, and until the engine reaches about 160°F you'll hear some piston slap. It's all part of the LS family engines, quite normal. Kick em up a to a few grand RPM and that sweet sound appears!

what causes the noisy about the idle on these cars is it the valves or the timing chain or somethin else?
