  • Lol I been here

  • a big thank-you gr8 post

  • Brilliant upload - this film was on last night...

  • God I loved On the Buses, it was classic light hearted, funny, real comedy. God I miss the 1970's! Those disco scenes in the film summed up the 70's for me. I'm doing a tour this year of locations of On the Buses, Carry On, Confessions of...., The Professionals, etc, although I doubt they will look the same now...resident-wise

  • I love this film it always reminds me of the happy holidays i had there and other Pontins Camps in the 60s,70s and 80s.Very Happy Memories for me at 50 years old.

  • how do you what room it was ? must look a lot different now

i`ve been outside the camp, but not in...

we stayed at the grand hotel opposite

  • This is brilliant, i love On The Buses. I think it looked better then. Modern isn't always best

  • MY God.... They still havent painted it yet

  • thanks for taking the time to bring back some great memories I'm a great fan of Pontins having been there as a kid in the 70s and 80s to Hemsby which has now sadly closed, have watched holiday on the buses loads of times certainly one of my favourites!

  • My family had a van at Greenacres Caravan Park which is not very far from Pontins in Prestatyn. We all visited Pontins in the late 70's for the day, so when I see the film, I remember certain parts of Pontins like the Cabaret and Ballroom were Blakey was teaching ballroom dancing and I do remember the boating lake. Remember my sister and myself having our pictures taken, I was around 8 or 9 - Have got great memories of growing up, spending time at the caravan and having some memorable holidays.

  • can anyone tell me if this place is still open now 2010.and if the room the butler family stayed in room 313 is still there.thankyou.

  • @bigcarpage ...the camp is still as a normal holiday camp...every thing is still the same as in the film apart from the boating lake which is now a go kart track for the kids....its really strange when you drive up to the gates of the camp...you expect blakey to great you....lol

  • @systemler thanks for info really appreciate it .i live not far from there but never been in.would love to see the room were the butlers stayed.

  • @bigcarpage yes its still open!! the family and i went last year, i can honestly say the chalets havent changed since the film was made :O( and thats what lets this great place down!!!

  • glad pontins didnt change their camp to much. Not like butlins, you have to be rich to go to butlins now. Holiday camps used to be a poor familys holiday. Not to sure about maplins though.

  • on the buses, catweazle, double deckers, magpie, opportunity knocks, the wheeltappers and shunters club, shows like this made for a fantastic childhood

  • well as for one who was in the film. great

    cheers

    terry

  • @terryjohn You were in it Terry? Brilliant! What part?

  • great to see this, holiday on the buses is a fantastic film, great days

  • yes they were too.and great TV

    TJ

  • its a Nice Place there, I reckon they should do a Remake of on the Buses and Keep The Location as it Brings back Memories from the Cast and People Who Watched it.

  • sorry you can't remake classics. ther's only anna karen and stephen lewis left would not work

  • they were thinkin of it in 1990 remake.

it never made as a idea...

    tj

  • great video I have been to potins and it has changed since 1973 the ballroom is much smaller and so has the reception.. where stan comes, down the stairs for his date. its now used for something else and the challets near the go kart are now club ones but I do not like the windows no privacy.. some of the challets are now modernised and smaller inside.. the pool side is the same but somethings have been removed

  • The poolside is the same .. but somethings have been removed :):):) Is it the swimmers costumes??:):):)

  • Hi

the only thing changed at the poolside is the changing rooms, the bench has gone and now have tables, also the closed of area to the smaller pool has now gone.. the tiles are the same and the diving board has now gone and there are slides instead.. but everything is still the same even the doors where Arthur appears.. hope this has heloped I have gone to potins three times in three years and I like the place...

  • the pool as gone .its a go cart ride as i know from 94.

    terry

  • Why when they are trying to get their luggage back does Arthur, within inches of his suitcase, just leave it? lol Great film though

  • Haunting.

  • VERY

  • this is great!!!!! on the buses is great very funny!!!!

  • dont forget the water fall they had a tour too when aurthur was late back for his dad and took the short cut. that water fall is still there and exactly the same. got some good old vids and pics of that and pontins. its a fucking shit hole now though, full of drunks, chavs and slappers. looks like an old dirty council estate.

  • I went around the bridge at Rhuddlan and took piccies and also the plaque at Pontin's... Love the film. Noticed that in the film they arrive and leave on the wrong side of the road at Rhuddlan bridge though.

  • Thanks for the vid, was watcing these films over Xmas. Timeless classics.

I see the boating lake has gone then. Any idea when this was filled in?

  • thanks for doing this - great!

I wonder why the shot under the bridge at 0:09 makes the castle seem almost at the waters edge in the background. But the modern longer shot shows it quite higher - no where near the edge. Angles can be deceiving esp with different cine-lenses - but I'm curious - anyone else have an opinion?

  • Nice. They even have their own Badges like the Blue disks where famous people lived. Just needed the waterfall below Dyserth to complete it.

  • Excellent stuff! Very cleverly done.

  • we were there in july this year, not changed much!

  • spot on film very cleaver doing now and then thankyou i love on the buses

  • is that camp still open?

  • yes im going next week

i love it every year i even always book the same room it was filmed ;-)

  • Most of the main buildings have gone, but those around the main gate are still there and the chalets too.

  • facinating to see this. absolutely facinating thanks

    classi british comedy

    atvmidlands

  • great to see how things look then and how

  • nice video. great to see how it looks now.

  • aaaaaaaaaaarfurrrr! classic vid mate, a fav now!

  • which road is that bridge on?

  • Abergele Road/Station Road as it leaves Rhuddlan. As filmed they are leaving Rhuddlan when Stan causes them to crash. The bridge is nowhere near the way they would come from London but sure looks good with castle in the background.

  • we are going there in july! luv on the buses!

  • good show well done

  • Great stuff, shame they clad the main building in metal, i think it lookd better as it was....

  • great job! i spent many a happy year at that camp when i was a kid! not changed much at all! a true original british holiday camp! seen the film many times, thanks for the memories!

  • Well done! It hasn't changed at all!

  • Fantastic work!
