lol i just wrecked yesterday and got some pretty bad cuts but he is kinda right one tip forgotten stay loose i wrecked jumping the other day clipped a tree stayed loose and let my body do what it was gonna do and i got right back up and jumped it about 13 more times
I fell off a 10 foot drop , landed on my neck .... torn muscles..broke my cartridges and bone fragments. i suffer from severe headaches now and can't move as well as before. this happen due to careless preparation on my part and not slowing down on an obstacle that i saw first the first time. i was just going too fast . I will get back on a bike as soon as I get better,,, but I will slow down a bit.
Doug, I agree with you in every way about this. I crashed April when (I have to admit, I was going to fast) I ran into a tree while trying to make a sharp turn. My handlebars hit first, and did a mid-air ass-over-tea-kettle movement before landing on the ground. My arms were not extended, and my body transferred the energy of the impact into the ground. I was ok, but my MTB's handlebars were bent out of proportion.
Good tip! I recently had gone for a endurance rally on my mobike, crashed twice on arm first, like he displayed & am still recovering & recuperating with the pain it is giving out! Should have seen this video first, well never the late. Wont repeat this mistake anymore!
yes it's great telling us how to fall of a bike when the crash is staged but what if theres a big drop to the side of you. do you still roll of the mountain :P
Easy to do at low speed when you see the fall coming.....much more difficult when your rear wheel rebound on a rock at 60 km/h....you only need to practise, more and more...
No nobody shouldn't but sometimes....you are above your limits! and then It hurts......I started MTB in 1992 and 3 years ago, a big crash calmed me down for a long time....
these comments are ridiculous, of course you don't have absolute control in a crash, and it happens very fast; this is why the roll needs to second nature; this is by no means bad advice (from a dorky, too confident guy, albeit)
yeah but this was intentional crash. in real life you're not gonna fall like that, you'll be probably on some rock or something so you won't be able to roll
yeah, it's true that rolling into a tree can help your ass meet the back of your head, but it's still good advice when possible, the instinct is to put your hands out and it's not a good thing.
cannondale. feel it! wtf? if the ground beside the trail isn´t flat and smooth you could stay for the rest of your life in a wheelchair. feel this, cannondale??????
crashing tip 101 for retards if u don't want to use this retarded method dont fall off your bike KEEP RIDING and dont stop tilll ur at the end of ur trail and that concludes crashing tip 101 for retards.
As any motorcycle rider will tell you coming off aint a biggie, it's what you hit after that which can ruin your day! He tucked and rolled like a pro, unfortunately into the path of an oncoming semi!
I had a *potentially* bad crash last month, but i tucked and rolled and it saved me from a broken collar bone, its something that's actually pretty automatic if you have any sort of athleticism. however, i wouldn't recommend doing it if you don't have a full face, you could clonk your head on a good sized rock and end up like special tim.
I agree with the "arms straight out and break your colar bone idea", but sometimes things come WAY too fast, and you can't even react to them. I found that out just over 2 weeks ago :'(
dude ive hit 65km/h on a down hill trail..doent work...iv never crashed at high speed only low speed because at high speed ur more cosintrated, at low speed you dont give a shit and crash ...
sometime you crash so quick that you do not even have 1 second to do this, you should just put your body hard by your muscles, and you wont feel pain, thats what I do.
My problem is, I'm too busy thinking "AAAHHH!" To tuck and roll. I'm still new at this Mountain BIking Stuff. I've got a Specialized Rockhard Comp Disc, BTW.
well, lots of times you dont even know that you are gonna crash, like, just about 1 hour ago i crashed, slid like 5 feet and my arm is screwed up. haha i didn't even know what happened. good idea . . . to roll . . . kinda a no brainer . . . but
Dios mío. Vaya pedazo de chorrada. Mira que he visto vídeos malos, pero este... Que intente hacer esa misma maniobra sobre un buen montón de pedruscos y luego me cuenta si pone o no pone las manos antes que la espalda.
