A little constructive criticism to Taj. You teleported a lot from the edge back unto stage. I don't know if you realized that PP kept catching you on that. Matter of fact that's how you lost your last stock on last game.

Also, PP always recovered high on you. Not every Falco does that but you needed to catch on to his recovery habits. I believe if you did that, you would've won. Also, do you think you can UP B out of shield to escape shield pressure? Maybe up to platform or behind him.

Taj lost, but when I think of Falco, I don't think of PP. When I think of Mewtwo I think Taj. Taj wrote the metagame for Mewtwo, which is pretty special.

There are 2 ways a character can be bad:

1.) He can lack the options he needs to win

2.) His risk/reward is skewed so that he doesn't gain as much for making correct moves compared to better characters.

Only one of these weakness types can be overcome in high level play. A player can make up for skewed risk/reward by outplaying the opponent more. A player can't just make options appear. Mewtwo has a lot of options. The problem is, he's so freaking light and big. When he's hit, he pays severely.

I feel like he should be a little higher though, roy and zelda shouldn't be above him...so thats a good 8 characters he is better than (at least in my opinion, 6 officially though).

If you don't know much about Zelda, you shouldn't be making that argument. She can keep up with 3 of the top 7 (Peach, Jigglypuff, Falco) and she wins vs Ice Climbers. She's got plenty of hidden tricks besides toes. Jabs cancels can create a wall of a hitbox to block approaches. Her uthrow, usmash, and sweet spotted dash attack can combo into toe vs fast fallers. Her fsmash is another good way to make a wall of a hitbox to protect you from approaches. Toes are only half her game

And I've played the Zelda vs Mewtwo matchup vs several players, including a few frinedlies with Taj at this tournament. 1 has explained to me why Mewtwo looks good in combo videos and terrible in practice: He has no spacing tools, no approach to get in and do his tricks. I agree on his approach being lacking, its very noticeable in that matchup, but my original argument was that mewtwo wasn't complete shit, like you kinda made it sound like, nor is he amazing like some people on here claimed...he is just meh.

@Ariphilus That doesn't necessarily mean that he is a bad character, that just means that he is severely underplayed. Mewtwo is just a mediocre character, he isn't bad, he has an excellent recovery, solid grab game, good tilts, good aerials (with the exception of dair but its usable), ok combos, a projectile, and good oos opitions, but he isn't that good either, being large and easily comboed, trouble dealing with pressure, trouble approaching, light thus easily killed, and slow laggy moves.

@saurfan Well, statistically, M2 does worse than most other characters in Melee at tourneys. Taj is pretty much the exception to the rule. I mean, he can be fun to play and, as Taj shows, he can be a devastating fighter. But, Zant does have a point--M2 in general does horribly in this game. That's why Taj is the ONLY Mewtwo I see in these matches XP.
