  • Sounds like the music is slow down when the fight ends, fatallitys are delayed, so voices are use in area of the saturn version like round 1 fight or finsh him you don't hear those.

  • Ah damn i was gonna buy the saturn version because i heard it was alot better than the genesis/snes version (got both of them) but after seeing this....

  • what's is the best system to play the mortal kombat games on? (retro wise and not including the arcade)

  • @keybladeaprentice the game cube version, midway arcade treasure 2, and the ps3 mortal kombat arcade collection, or the 32x version is also good

  • @sofasport No, the worst port for a CD console would be the Playstation version which only came out in Japan and has for some reason terrible music even though it was on a CD and it could've had the original arcade music, also some graphics are wrong like in the dead pool it almost looks like the one used on the SNES and N64 (on trilogy) which is a downgraded version from the original...

  • The thunder in the portal sounds like a wet fart how ironc since its coming from a hole where the sun does not shine

  • PS1 version is better!

  • @Dimon12321 Arcade is much better!

  • I've played the 32X version a bit in the day. Never played the Saturn version. Judging by this video the Saturn version looks like an excellent port with a slightly different soundtrack. Why are people saying the 32x version was a better port? I remember being so disappointed the 32x version looked and sounded and played so much like the Genesis version. OK no loads on a cartridge but still, the load times don't look that bad according to this video...

  • @pickleflowr missing voices, delays for doing the specials, half assed music(again) UMK3 was a better translaation.

  • the sounds suck

  • Wow... How can this port (a CD) have less sound samples than the 32X version (a cartridge)? Probe somehow managed to mess up pretty bad with this one. And say what you want about Sega's ill-fated add-on, but at least it had the most decent MK II port overall. Not the best graphics, of course, but it had killer sound, zero loading times and razor-sharp controls (courtesy of one of the best fighting pads ever, Mega Drive's 6-button controller, second only to Saturn's Japanese controller). Period.

  • @SegagagaEnterprises best port was the PC version (if you knew how to play with a keyboard that is)

  • @bcrt2000 how do you play with a keyboard ?

  • very good game port but ii hate the loading

  • ahhhh, old times.

  • the music is terrible compared to arcade

  • @courageous917 n it dnt say things, like "round 1", n "(character) wins"

  • The mega drive version was awesome. yes it wasnt in comparison to the snes port because of ROUND... Fight, character anouncement and voice clips and so on..... but this version is the biggest load of shit of mortal kombat 2 ever( in my opinion BTW). The tempo of music is slowed down, several audio clips are either missing or incorrectly played with female ninjas. No character anouncements. The best version to play is the PS3 version, where you get everything and everyones happy. CASE CLOSED!!.

  • Snes version is awesome!

  • toasty for u raiden and kitana hahaha

  • Portal farts hahahahahhaha xD

  • @piolhochato Just a portal parp, sounded like a wet one too. happens a lot in the underworld

  • this is way better than the ps1 jpn mk2 ver

    good sound and graphix

  • @mivecturbo lol sure

  • @mivecturbo No, the PSX version is better. I have it and tried it out. It has less lag than Saturn version, has round one voice, flawless victory voice, the laugh of Shao Kahn voices, the players' names voices and more cheats like "artful scaling" which brings you zoom when close to your opponent(extremely nice feature). It also has sound test and volume controls, not present in the Saturn version.

  • @SonySupporter yeah i nottice that on a review of this ver, looks like the 32x and the psx are the best home ver after all

  • Hahah the sound is so laughably bad esp when raiden got fatalitied. But the graphics are spot on.

  • All Sega ports of Mortal Kombat 2 were fucking HORRIBLE

  • @natedoggcata That's because they were all handled by the same people, Probe.

  • @natedoggcata i agree. the arcade version was the best. even the psx port of mk2 was bad

  • This game looks pretty legit. But I gotta say...why couldn't they make the guy say the character names after a win or character select? Where they lazy?

  • we have an audio trouble here...

  • we have a sound trouble here

  • this version is way better than the ps1 version

  • MEMORIES BRING's ME BACK IN TIME!!!

  • This was one lazy ass port! And fuck you Probe for shitty ports!

  • lol this looks like a knock-off xD

  • sounds are hilarious

that portal sounds like someone farts all the time

and when you do Fatality, they put sound like you wan some prize

Genesis had better port (weird to say)

  • is this the japanese versino of sega saturn?

  • it has to load the fatalities, and lower pitched screaming, lmao

  • I'm amazed that the music sounds this bad and that certain voice clips are missing. That's just a bad job of developing. On the other hand, UMK3 on the Saturn was terrific.

  • I love the music

  • @HorrorSlasherBLO0d yeah, its fuckin' cool.

  • the programmers musta been high when they made this port because thats what it sounds like lmao

  • Snes port is overrated, Saturn had the best graphics of any port, more accurate arcade gameplay than any other version it was just the sound, granted the saturn can do better sound than this its just the developers were abit lazy in that department but imo if you wanted accurate arcade like gameplay with graphics, id pick saturn.

  • @DrakeGonBizzy : How does the PSX version compare to the Saturn version? Any major differences? ( I do know that the PSX had longer load times)

  • @3:42 Kitana has the same scream as the male charecters, also notice how when the screen darkens for the fatality, the crowd in the backround still stays lightened.

  • I have a Saturn, but never knew this was released for it!

I still play it on PS2/XBOX Midway Arcade 2.

  • @bizarroeddie I agree. Only the arcade and the SNES versions have that "Round...FIGHT" features. That's why I prefer both of these versions. Anyway, I always used to practice on the SNES version at home so I can do well at the real thing in public. Bottom line: I loved playing that game PERIOD!

  • The sound on this version sucks. Scorpion's spear sounds like someone sucking a straw.

  • In scorpion vs. kitana, scorpion was like lets fuck not fight.

  • wtf probe made the shao kahn's arena/portal track for this game and not the other conversions? what a bunch of losers. ms dos could have been the best port if the screwballs over at probe didn't settle for an 80% effort being acceptable.

  • 1:23 Wow o_O

  • Jax fell about 6 feet.

  • lol, no matter which port I play this game, Kitana always pwns me, but I enjoyed the saturn version of this game as it was graphically closer to arcade than SNES.

  • at least it's way better than the snes version. 16 bit ports look like blurry colorless messes compared to this

  • 1:48 Raiden farts in Scorpion's face.

  • In my opinion the music sounded better in the arcade version ( of course knowing that the arcade is a big system) because the music actually sounds limited and the background seems quiet.

  • Lawl. The Saturn ver. was most likely a Kid's Ver., because of the music at the beginning and the character select part.

  • A lot of you seem to be blaming the console for this port's short comings when it is really a matter of sloppy programming. The lack of sounds was a quick way to reduce load times in certain situations, but it really had less to do with the system and more to do with poor decisions with how to use the system's memory wisely.

  • 0:42 I like the music from The Pit II.

  • get over here xD

  • ...And WHY Kitana screams like a man! (3:43)

  • WHY that music on the menu and on battleplan screen, are we going to dance mambo? WHY it starts from the pit 2 and not from the dead pool? Shao Kahn: WHO the hell dares to fart in front of the portal gate?

  • Hahahaahaha. you're right pal.

  • Now that i listened the music really does sound like ur about to dance with some guy in a buttoned up shirt with his collar popped and his hair slicked back, i mean mk is a dark gory game and that music really doesnt fit.

  • toasty 0:54

  • ok this a 64 bit system and they cant put a voice to say scorpion wins i mean what the hell they said it on the snes version and thats a 16 bit system

  • no its a 32 bit system like the 32x but bits dont meen shit when it comes to actual console power it was just marketing hype that started with the megadrive.

  • wait i thought the bits were the actual power of the console

  • I still think the Saturn version is the best arcade port for consoles. SNES is CLOSE....and I mean CLOSE behind though. I would put the SNES version ahead of the Saturn if it weren't for a couple small things (ie: raidens lightning sounding like a fart, the music sounds weird when the screen gets dark for the fatality, etc...) The Genesis and 32x versions absolutely blow in my opinion though.

  • Oh my god, listen to that disharmony at 2:04. It's unbelievable a CD-based system can have such atrocious music

  • The ray of the portal sounds like a fart, haha.

  • Sega ports of MK2 never got sound right.

  • playstation version too ;)

  • Wow i'm not sure what to think of this version. It looks very close to the arcade but it's missing a lot of voices and sound fx. :\

  • @kuntgames616 i agree, the music sounds weird too. SNES version of MK2 is by far the best.

  • @GAMEBOY379 I agree with you, man.

  • 32x version is the best I think.

  • I thought the Saturn versions of MK II and UMK3 were pretty much flawless and the best arcade to console conversions. Though the SNES version of MK II is pretty damn sweet.

  • and the pc version is real crap too! if you check!

  • (O_o) WTF??

The SNES and 32x version were hell lot better than this crap!

  • LOOOOL @ 2:28 "AHHHH" funny as shit!

  • @OmniStories 3:46 kitana has the same stupid arrh

  • @OmniStories lmfao

  • sounds like his getting squished or something.

  • WTF IS THIS!?

  • it sounds like raiden is farting

  • @JadMaster3 Thought i heard that sound before,my cat zac has the runs at the moment, and he gets a surprise each time that noise comes from his behind.

    Quality

  • Many folks hated this version but I liked it. Could've been much better since it's a CD and not cartridge game.

  • As a big genesis fan I must say that mk2 on snes was the best on any system. It was the closest to arcade quality at the time. Plus snes got their liver handed to them on mk1 so they had to step up. I just always liked the genesis Six button better than those crappy snes controllers

  • @2009kdizzle

I disagree. The snes MK2 sprites don't resemble the original (people) sprites. They look more like cartoons.

  • @2009kdizzle

Are you high? Yeah the Megadrive/Saturn pad still easily annihilates anything else for fighting games, but for real, every other controller since, has been based on the SNES pad. Dreamcast, PlayStation, Xbox 360, N64, they all stem largely from the impact of the SNES controller.

  • they dont block for shit in this version, so far the hardest mk2 version i have played is the ps2 one on mortal kombat: shaolin monks, you unlock it by completeing the 5 smoke missions.

  • @synax444

You lucky S.O.B lol, the European PS2 version of MKSM never had MK2, even if you finish the Smoke missions.

It works on the Xbox version, but I can't bring myself to pick up that shambolic controller.

  • Haha wooww dude thats fuckin wack! D:

  • Lol, I know right.

European publishers - being useless since 1990.

  • Im a huge Sega fan but these Genesis, 32X and Saturn ports were terrible. Considering how MK3 and UMK3 turned out on the Genesis and Saturn probe is just a lazy ass developer.

  • @Da1shocker

I agree, it's sad to see that Saturn multiplats 8/10 times were useless, when they had the potential to be the best versions. UMK3 and MKT on Saturn were pretty solid imo, but the loading times are unbearable. Irrefutable factual laziness on the developer's part.

As I always say, Sega never failed us, we failed Sega.

  • @Da1shocker to be honest,I think if they added at least the announcer saying their names, then it would be a good port on the sega saturn.Only advantage that the 32x has over the saturn version is you hear the fighters name and zero load times.

  • @Da1shocker are you fucking serious?

  • @ldlrdrllrr Yes I am. I didn`t lie about anything I said.

  • @Da1shocker Genesis version is the best one isn't the graphics that make the game fun is the control and the soundtrack that it make it unique

  • @Jigsaw2383 The 32X version is better than the Genesis version. But the SNES is better than both of them. And this is coming from a huge Sega fan.

  • @Da1shocker The best port of Mortal Kombat 2 is on 32x

  • @MrTechnoSqueek Let's see graphics that look as good as the SNES? CHECK

Sound as good as the SNES? Nope awful euro remixed music? check missing tree voices? check Liu Kang's bicycle kick yell GONE!

  • @Da1shocker and you seems to be a huge Nintendo fan but what I meant is the controls and the sountrack that make the game different from the arcade and other ports and in my opinion I love the genesis music much more than the other ports mk1 as well, but now i think that Mortal Kombat 2 Unlimited is the best these days

  • @Jigsaw2383 Did you not read my very first post that said i'm a huge Sega fan. I own way more Sega stuff than Nintendo stuff. I base these arcade ports off of there arcade counterparts. So when Probe fucked up both MK1 and MK2 on every single Sega platform i'm gonna be pissed. This in comparison with what Sculptured Software was able to do with MK3 and UMK3 ports. They did sound like the arcade version. SF2SCE was a better port than this garbage ass port.

  • @Da1shocker i really thought mk2 was k on sega but umk3 and mk3 was horribile but worst version of mk2,mk3.andumk3 version of sega master system was bad

  • @Da1shocker saturn was okay too the master system and gennis were bad for mk saturn was k

  • @Da1shocker even psx does mortal kombat 2! hehee

  • @Da1shocker I don't get it, how was MK2 on the 32X bad? I'm no expert, but it seemed like a fairly good port.

  • @superdeeduper51 The music was the same remix euro trash that was on the Genesis. The game looked like an enhanced Genesis port nothing close to the arcade version. Probe took the same Genesis code and added some more colors, voices and the intro and thats about it.

  • @Da1shocker But the Genesis/Mega Drive port was pretty solid to begin with right? We should still give props to what each port has over each other rather than bitch about what they could or should've been.

  • @strykah92 I simply cant tolerate incompetent programmers. They fucked up every single port on a Sega system. Then when MK3 and UMK3 came out on the Genesis and Saturn the music and graphics resembled the arcades better than what Probe had done with there awful ports.

  • @Da1shocker

Well, that's your opinion, and many people disagree with you, including myself.

I had MK3 on PSX, and have UMK3 on Saturn, and the saturn version seems better to me.

I don't quite get a full picture of your opinion though...

Do you prefer the PSX versions? Or are you comparing them to the arcade?

Surely not Nintendo. I thought their ports were terrible.

Good old opinions. Gotta love em.

  • @ExtremeBogom what is there to be confused about? I never mentioned the PSx ports. What I did state is that in comparison to the arcade and SNES ports, Probes efforts were terrible. The music was remixed to sum euro trash garbage. And I kno there are people that prefer that to the arcade music but im an arcade purist. I own both the 32X and Saturn ports and they aren't that good at all. The Genesis version isn't even worth owning. Sculptured and Iguana did sum pretty good ports on the Genesis.

  • @Da1shocker

Yer, but again it's just an opinion. I prefer the Gen/MD port to the Snes.

Of course, the Arcade version is the best.

So you prefer even the snes version to the Saturn version?

I can't say I haven't heard that before, alot agree with you.

    I don't though :].

Have you played the Sega game gear MK ports?

    Oh dear lol...

  • @ExtremeBogom The Saturn version is terrible. In the screen shots its looks jsut like the arcade. But playing it and it's another story. There are brief pauses for loading the special moves which slows the gameplay down. The music is ok but there are also a ton of voices that were left out. This is a stark contrast to UMK3 which didn't have these issues. Sculptured did an outstanding port on the SNES.

  • @Da1shocker

    Hmm, that's a shame then :[.

Have you ever come across the Saturn version of MK Trilogy?

There is only a small clip of that on here, and no one seems to talk about it.

  • @ExtremeBogom MKT is a rare Saturn game that is pretty expensive and came out like a year later after the N64 and PSx versions so interest in that game had pretty much waned off.

  • @Da1shocker what about umk3 on the saturn and mk2 on saturn wasnt a bad port altouth i agree the lack of voice clips is really no excuse considering its a 32 bit console. imo in thought gensis version of mk1 was better then the snes :)

  • @Da1shocker Hmm it seems that you man and 10 other people have seen something the rest including myself can't see! This is a perfect port! The 32X is also the best 16bit version of MKII to play. Here the only sad is that their is no announcement voice for the winner! :(( besides that the rest is outstanding!

  • @sybnios Then I guess we have different expectations. A perfect port is like XvS, a near perfect port is SFA2 or UMK3. This game is way to flawed to even be near perfect port. As for the 32X version MKII it should've blown the doors off of the SNES port instead it didn't What happened to Liu Kangs byclycle kick voice? Why are the characters so small. etc.

  • @sybnios : I don't think the 32x version of MK2 is 16-bit.

  • 32x version is just genesis version with more color and background detail but no where close to arcade version.

  • Anyone who thinks MK2 was better on Genesis please contact me. I have some chewed bubblegum I think you'd be interested in buying.

  • that is the best Spear sound i have heard in a long time..i had this for saturn not too long ago..bout 7yrs ago, and it was awesome

  • i think for mk1 mk2 and mk3 is better the comparison snes genesis cos they were on that age and for psx and all those consoles they just had to make a remake for mk2 with exclusive stuff for every port like if psx you can unlock noob saibot jade and smoke for saturn you can unlock shao kahn and kintaro and new fatalitys for each(but keeping the old ones)

  • the guy in the back round is name is blaze the strongest in mk armageddon

  • omg lol i remeber that guy when u did the combos and he says

    "whoopsiee"

    lol..

who here remebers the comedy mortal kombat???

im not sure which game it was.. but the start dancing and throwing pies n shit lol. which one was it?

  • It's TOASTY by the way :)

  • He also says "frosty" at some point.

  • really? lol....damn... I was too busy getting my butt kicked to notice..lol. ;)

  • i never knew how to "finish him" it always pissed me off

  • this is the best MK game and i mean the best MK game MK2 was awesome on all consoles

  • When he's fighting jax, Look in the background. Who is that?

  • 0:53 TOASTY!

  • Is this better than the SNES version?

  • its better graphically looking the most arcade true out of any port, but load times, especially when morphing with Shang Tsung, are hideous.

Playwise, the SNES is better, tighter control, no load times.

Of course nowadays you could just download MK II for MAME. The multiple arcade Machine Emulator. And play the arcade version on your PC.

  • The Snes version of MK2 was the least good port.

It was developed by a different company to the others, the sprites were also smaller, blurrier, the music was very quiet, and It also didn't play out many sound effects for long enough (when you fatality someone).

  • Yes. The snes version was probably the most inferior port.

  • No, it wasn't. Both the graphics and sounds are a million times better than in the Genesis version

  • The snes system has more colors than the megadrive/genesis system, that's a fact.

Most games will look more colorful on snes over megadrive by default no matter the developer/producer etc.

The thing I'm complaining about is that it feels different to all the other versions (developed by williams).

  • Graphics wise yes, but sound and control wise, no

  • yea the snes controller was great for mortal kombat, especially using shoulder buttons for block.

I hated how the start button was block on the megadrive :(

  • I don't know why, but for me 32x version is better. Oo

  • it still doesnt sound right .

  • wow! kitana ha kicked your ass!! that fucking mother is difficult, even to me

  • I do not blame Probe for this, I blame Acclaim. They are by far the worst publishing company in video game history.

  • Hell yeah, they murdered a LOT of video games back then. Both Saturn and PSX could have done so much better.

  • kitana screams like a guy. what a shit load of fuck

  • this port is ok id rather play the snes port tho at lease that one they say the rounds and names. the sounds are out of place in this version which is type surprising since its on a cd

  • the sound effects on the select screen sounds like someone is playing with frying pans

  • The PS3 version is a direct arcade port. My only beef with it is the terrible PIIIIIIIIIIIING! noise you get every time you do something on the main menu.

  • oh wow haha i miss playing this game

    :DDD

  • GTFO

  • ?????????????????????????

  • You obviously know nothing about SEGA.

  • it's.true.

    i.dunno.why.they.gave.u.thumps.down

    jeolus.maybe.

  • hahahaha 1:47 wet fart lol

  • This version also has slightly better graphics than ps1's. Fact.

  • This is weird, the sounds are not arcade perfect. The SNES version had somewhat better sounds than this, and it was on a 16 bit system. Damn, all SEGA versions of MK are horrible.

  • If I had a dollar for every time I saw someone posting another 'snes mk2 is superior' comment. I'd be able to afford a Saturn with mk2 in no time. Which would be great.

  • UMK3 on Saturn was a fantastic translation. You can blame Probe for the crappy versions.

  • Probably my favorite MK game. UMK3 on Saturn was the best, and Noob Saibot was awesome.

  • I don't know what you're smokin.

  • dude, listen to the sounds. There is no "round 1,2,3" voice; neither is there a voice saying who wins. The SNES had these sounds, even some of the music is not translated that good. Think about it, this was on a 32 bit system with a CD format. Oh, by the way I am smoking weed.

  • feels good man
