I just bought the 2wd 9-3 estate. Its great but with all the power the front wheels have trouble getting the traction on take-off. MY next car will be the 9-3x which presumably has better launch with the AWD. LONG LIVE SAAB!
Skoda Yeti is way way way way way way better... also has 4th generation haldex clutch and its got ground clearance . its probably way cheaper than this JUNK. GEELY car maker owns it i think.
Subaru's got the best AWD system in the world. Seconded by Audi's Torsen system. Haldex is FWD based, not considered FULL TIME AWD. It's reactive instead of constantly active AWD.
subaru's good at doing AWD,also the qrattro(tosen) stuff by audi. XWD for saab(93 and new 95)equiped with haldex, they are all Permanent AWD too. there are all Full Time AWD.The continues AWD (or can be discribleed as Part Time AWD)is stand it by Honda CR-V,opel Antara etc. There are represent system runs at FWD only engaged AWD when losing control.
Haldex is base on the FWD that true, but Hadlex is not the part time AWD you idot.if so,the passat CC and R36,R32 ,opel(vauxhall) singina VXR all will be the same which they didn't.Please doing researach before you talk ok?if you want to insult the saab (than you will be mess the VW and Haldex too).you better choice the interior of it.
Well I found this video absolutely yawn inspiring as I do with new Saab models for about the past 1 and a half decades. What happened to the spirit of the old 900 series? I still gawk at the later 900s and turbos when they drive past and they sound so distinctive too. In sheer contrast, to any newer Saabs I usually don't notice nowadays. Its a shame...
Yeah I agree with you somewhat. The last great Saab in my opinion was the 9-3 they manufactured from 1998 till 2002. I've driven several of those models with a view to buying one, they really are great cars!
I forget that Saab is still around. They need a serious marketing campaign to return it to the days when it was the edgy-yuppie answer to BMW's yuppie-yuppie. You know, the 900s w/ the ski racks from the mid/late-80s?
I wonder if GM will hold on to Saab or if Saab will even survive.
************I own both cars an 08 subaru sti and an 00 viggen, and If anything ,The subaru has copied SAAB..... utalizing turbochargers and a hatchback design was all original and SAAB design not subaru, and I have respect for both cars. hopefully people will realize the build quality SAAB has over subaru as well as from an engineering standpoint********BTW if SAAB actually puts out a commercial like this, with no words..... it would make me want to buy the car more than all that fancy jet crap!
Please elaborate on your statement about Saab build quality vs Subaru. I currently drive a liberty/legacy STI and have found the build quality absolutely flawless. But, I am aware of some of the lesser subaru models having build quality issues in the past - is this what you refer to? As for the engineering side of things Subaru engines are second to none - their flat 4 turbo was voted best engine 2007 and their creamy H6 engines with a little help from Porsche are mind blowing.
Subaru didn't "copy" the Saab. It went to a hatch design with the already turbocharged impreza wrx sti sedan/coupe to be more competitive with the hatches already in the WRC at the time (see Citroen and Ford). FYI, Subaru always had a turbocharged engine with their brat and the XT. Also look at the engin config.. Saab usually uses an inline 4 as opposed to a flat 4 with the scoobie and can't be more different in terms of design.. If you want anything close to copying, remember the saabaru?
There's never been a Saab I've ever liked style-wise in the 60+ year history of Saab. This one is... alright, but not blown away entirely. For some reason, I somewhat think of a recent Subaru Impreza in its front design. Again, never liked Saab in car styling.
I've never been a fan of SUV's or Crossover's or whatever you want to call this but I guarantee if you walk around a Saab dealership you will find a design or style you like.

You wouldn't choose this SAAB over:
An Audi- because Audis look better.
A volvo- because Volvo's have more space.
A BMW- because it doesn't have the handling.
A Toyota- because it doesn't have as good build quality.
SAAB plays safe by performing a small jump over a large pit, when only a giant leap can save them.

Wrong, I choose a SAAB over all the above
Audi does not look better
Volvo's drive like a tank and are boring..
BMW's are driven by self absorbed a-holes
Toyotas are mindless econoboxes.
SAAB is unique, has excellent turbocharging and the most advanced all-wheel drive (XWD, 4th genration Haldex with eLSD)
This is my next car, and it will be my 4th SAAB.

The Saab has had the same style of the front of the car for about 20 years. So this reminds you of the subaru?
