  • Just got my hands on one and i am having a hard time finding mags. Any suggestions on were to find some ? I live in California! Sucks I know!

  • In Slovakia price for Vz. 58 is 180 euros:)

  • Ive shot them both. Its a ford and chevy comparison, as far as im concerned. I saw, felt, experienced little difference. But, I understand the cz's are better. If you are a true hard core collector buy the cz, if you wanna get a great soviet block rifle at a low price buy the century.

I also enjoy the folding stock on the century... I also agree with the guy in the video, I prefer them over your basic run of the mill AK47.

  • Saw the century vz58 with 5 mags, box, and cleaning kit, at gun show for $450 no paperwork...

  • @911LexVegas The Century rifles aren't in the same class as the real CZ built guns. Many of the aftermarket accessories sold by companies such as Mako won't fit the Century guns as they're not built true to specification. Century guns are always cheaper than the originals they clone.

  • @911LexVegas thats a good deal

  • I was interested in this until i heard the price tag

  • i really want one of these.

  • what is the actual barrel length? i heard they were a hair under legal

  • Keep in mind guys, the Czech VZ 58 and other czech "Kalashnikovs" are not kalashnikovs at all. They have a completly diffrent operating mechanism. Only the 7.62x39 is what they share

  • can this rifle accept standard AK mags? and how would you compare this rifle to let's say a Saiga?

  • @eltoro1ish It's not an AK so it accepts no AK accessories or parts including the magazine. I like the Vz58 quite a bit. It's smaller and handier than an AK. The only down side is that accessories for the rifle are a bit limited.

  • @YenkoSuperChevy The guns you may buy and the guns we may buy in Czech republic are not used..,there are asembled from parts, which was(and still are) stored in the army warehouses..And this stored parts are combinated with a completely new parts as well.It will be recognized by non polished guide laths in breech housing(they are covered by very small black dots and its a non polished chromium),if a gun is new..,because during using a gun, these laths are going to be polished(black dots wane).. :)

  • Haha, I can get this for 300$ in Slovakia, including all accesories :D

  • czechpoint is selling the skeleton/thumbhole stock version for $699

  • wayyy too expensive. get a ruger mini 30 or a gp wasr 10 ak47

  • we get these in canada for 800 + tax...

  • Nice! I love my VZ, glad to see that you are enjoying them too!

  • maybe it's just me, but that is an ugly gun! i would take an ak variant over that any day, especially for the price!

  • @rwallen11 It has several benefits over the AK, such as a milled receiver and being lighter. The Sporter configuration is not the best, but there are alot of accessories out there that really change the look!

  • cheaper in canada than the US

  • :-) in our country, this CZ 58 costs about 300$, so it's cheaper than air-powered guns :D And barrely everbody, who has a "weapon licence" owns this piece of gold..

  • :D in Czech rep. of course..

  • czech republic not czechoslovakia

  • i would take a Vz 58 over a SGL anyday, i really want to pick one up but i have other things higher up on my list lol

  • wow 758 dollars i have the a vz2008 from century arms and it was $475 the exact same rifle wat would you pay $758 or $475

  • @emeraldPimp

    NOT the same.

  • @kyleelliott90

    Federal Assholism, no doubt.

  • Both prices blow goats and are too high.

I'd rather buy one on a European vacation and endure Federal bullshit to get it back here FOR HALF THE PRICE !

  • Does CZ still use these rifles in their military?

  • @BeyondTheHinterland yes....but they swap them for the new cz 805bren...there are few companies in cr,that tune these old guns and yes...some of them look pretty nice and they work well:)

  • @BeyondTheHinterland yes,we still use them..and we will keep them beside 805 Bren :)

  • @BeyondTheHinterland yes, still.

  • does this rifle have to be 922r compliant?

  • I got one and bought a muzzle brake and the stub one on it wont seem to come off. is it fixed?

  • Did this guy just advise people to violate 922(r) parts count regulations?

  • @Selectedmarksman call the BATF, NO ONE has ever been arrested for 922, go ahead and ask them

  • @DaytonaRoadster That may be true, but the existence of a blue law is one thing. Openly advocating violation of the law is another. It's a stupid law. Incredibly stupid. But it's our duty as firearms enthusiasts to educate people about the law because we all know the Gov't doesn't want you to own these anyway.

  • Nice review ..thanks Mate !

  • Man, I'm a 219.....what are you talking about?

  • this rifle is better than the ak because it is better and it is czech

  • it is the most reliable rifle in the world. i have used it for two years. if i would go to middle east, my choise is clear, this rifle.

  • I want one!

  • @TheSalty42 i agree

  • 47 mags right?

  • @kenney209 Negative, they are not AK, they are entirely different except for the cartridge.

  • That is such a crap armed Taliban during the war, the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, had type-56 Chinese production. . . now the Taliban are out of this crap shoot at NATO troops.

  • Get the real thing not a cheaper imitation, eh.CZ is a solid build with few exceptions. Century Arms can and often do have numerous points that could and possibly should be done in a higher quality manner. Thanks for your professionalism! Stay sharp and live long!.

  • I have seen them sold new for under $400. Why pay over $700?

  • @fltopsvet2009 Because the $400 is a Century Arms clone made on a poorly made US receiver. The CZ rifle (original manufacturer) is high quality and properly made rifle that is imported.

  • @Sturmgewehre

I see. CAI is hard to avoid. Thanks for the info, buddy. Love the vids!

  • @Sturmgewehre isn't the action on that similar to the SKS?

  • @Sturmgewehre We get the actual Czech ones up here in Canada, and they're great. A friend of mine who lives in Michigan has a CZ USA one and they're pretty much the same in terms of quality, great buys! I like to see Americans using them as they're certainly an acceptable alternative to an AK.

  • @neebs1992

CZ USA is the name of the importer in the U.S. CZ makes all of their guns.

  • @Sturmgewehre i bought a century arms clone mine was built pretty well and fires fires just fine i need to get my hands on one of those cz ones to make a good com

  • @Sturmgewehre It is NOT a porrly made receiver..just a myth contrived to try to convince people that a rifle without the bayonet lug and other origional military features are worth spending twice as much money on. Can you say "Marketing"? I'll take a Century with a new OOW receiver and a Green Mtn Barrel with the origional bayonet lug at half the price anyday..especially when they do the same thing...go bang all the time!!!

  • @fltopsvet2009 i have only seen them around $800

  • @fltopsvet2009 Century Arms builds crap firearms with a lot of complaints from their customers that's why they are cheap!

  • I'm canadian..in response to your question..They are considered non-restricted.Up here though they are called CZ-858.They are exactly the same rifle. They come with cleaning kit,sling,4 mags bayonette, and they run for $650.00.We have loads of them up here..However your right. They must have 30rd mags that are pinned to 5rds. GAAAAY!!!! THAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF.All our semi auto ieAR's are as well..It sucks I know..you guys are so lucky. However they are great rifles.enjoy..by the way great Vid.

  • god i never new it was that compact how much does it weigh and whats the length. please reply!

  • @codymelton9 It's 7.3lbs and 35.9" long.

  • @Sturmgewehre Hi i was wondering if this rifles can take AK pistol grips and handguards?

  • @Sturmgewehre Hi i was wondering if this rifle can take AK pistol grips and handguards?

  • @MegaMagpul It's not an AK and shares no parts commonality with the AK. So, the answer would be nope... you have to buy vz.58 specific accessories.

  • @Sturmgewehre my bad, I just saw your review, the only thing it has in common with the SKS is the short stroke gas piston, had no idea it was striker fired...that came as a surprise.

  • @Sturmgewehre speaking of accessories, can they accept AK mags?

  • The Czech Army is getting new CZ 805 BREN now, so there should be lots of surplus Vz.58 on the market soon.

  • @cimmerianpraetor Not really, 1st: AČR gets only about 8000 new rifles and vz.58s will remain in use.

2nd: vz cannot be sold to USA (at least not in default ahape), but can be set as semi-auto and sold in Europe.

  • @cimmerianpraetor

They'll be select fire;Oblahblah,Holder and their BATFE doggies won't let them in.Repukians are no better.

The NFA,which should be repealed, and Dickhead Clinton, who should wear a new shoe kicked into his shifty ass every day are largely responsible for the Assholian restrictions on legal firearm ownership that we now endure.

The surplus Sa vz. 58s will probably wind up in some Third World shithole, paid for with Dollars or Euros and handled by stone age drooling asspickers.

  • @Gmissile I agree. I want a select fire too. Why? Why not? The regulations & restrictions are BS!

  • my old work has a nib fixed wood chip stocked cz usa vz 58 for 699 and he would take less for it. Too bad im fucking unemployed, I should have bought it instead of that milled lancaster I bought, it was HORRIBLE with sloppy craftsmanship. Higher end aks in southern mo are fairly common, most people around here sneer at high end aks as they are stuck with "wasr syndrome". Hopefully I get work soon so i can pick it up its very nice

  • Hi, loved the vid and im a fan of the Vz 58. Ive been looking at the Century arms version. do you think there might be any quality issues compared to the Cz usa rifles?

  • @BlackHowIing

If you want a rifle you plan to shoot a lot and want it to last for many years, I would probably spend the extra money and buy the CZ made rifle. The Century rifles vary wildly in quality and not two rifles are exactly the same. The Mako Group tells me their accessories for the Vz.58 don't always fit the Century rifles due to vast variances in their dimensions. They also lack chrome lined bores so their barrels won't last as long.

  • @Sturmgewehre Thats good information to know! Thank you Thats a big help.

  • @Sturmgewehre Hi I was wondering if the VZ 58s will take ak 47 handguards?

  • @BlackHowIing

    Century sells crap.

  • @Gmissile haha AGREED!! I havent found one with a strait front site post.

  • Hi, loved the vid and im a fan of the Vz 58. Ive been looking at the Century arms version. do you think there might be any quality issues compared to the Cz usa rifles?

  • Excellent rifle, excellent video! AIM Surplus has a deal on vz.58 mags as well. $11.95/each - buy four to get a free mag pouch.

  • what do u thinkabout the century clones of those guns?

  • Its funny, i go to Blythes almost every weekend and have seen those guns and thought nothing of them but this video is changing my mind about them...

  • @desertdunebuggy

They're great rifles, I'm thinking about another one to deck out in Mako Group accessories.

  • Hey what set of ears do you use in all of your videos?

  • @CN073

I use the Peltor 6S headset that are rebranded by Dillon Precision. Good ears, I've had them for many years and they've been the best I've had.

  • Don't let the liberals in your country stay in any longer or you guys will have to ask the government permission to take certain firearms to the range like us. Time in power will allow them to implement the crazy ideas swirling around in their heads.

  • You need to do a video on a desert eagle review!!

  • @Sturmgewehre

    Are the magazines AK compatible?

I did a quick research last night and I stumble into information that all parts, including magazines are not interchangeable with the AKs.

    Thx.

  • @madmaxd1

No, parts do not interchange. It's not an AK. It shares no common parts and is a totally different design.

  • @Sturmgewehre

    Got it, Thx.

I just finished watching several videos from Canada residents which have this same rifle with the exception of a 10.5" barrel, folding stocks with no special permitting required. :(

  • @madmaxd1

While the Canadians can have short barrels without doing paperwork, they can't have high capacity magazines (or standard capacity, as I like to say). They also have various classes of firearms, some are restricted and others aren't. The restricted rifles can only be fired on a public/approved firing range. I don't know what classification their Vz58's have and I'm not saying they're restricted. But their magazine limit ruins it for me... I used to think they were lucky. :)

  • @Sturmgewehre the Vz58 is non restricted and the mag capacity is limited to 5rds. restriced firearms are mostly handguns and ar15. ak s are prohibited

  • @Sturmgewehre Its a 5 round magazine cap :(. Its so sad over here that we have to use a pistol magazine loop whole to get 10 rounds in our AR-15s. As the RRA LAR is designated a pistol, yet its mags are compatible with AR15s. But fortunately we recently elected a conservative majority government, so there is a chance we might be able to reverse this. Our VZ 58s are non restricted as long as the barrel length is 18.5" long. Anything under is restricted. We know you guys in the states are lucky.

  • @Sturmgewehre Is it more accurate than an AK-47?And is it reliable as an AK-47?

  • @Humberto4790 Trust me, fuck yes. Has totally different locking and firing mechanism (direct striker, no hammer like AK).

  • Very nice addition to anyone's collection.

  • Nice vid. Which do I buy, the SGL21 or the VZ58 and why? Looking for Sturm to give an unbiased assessment. Thanks

  • I actually managed to pick up a CZ-USA Vz. for $500 flat a few months ago. I made out like a bandit.

  • It's striker-fired with no muzzle brake ?

  • @kakasanti

Yes, just like the military rifle.

  • Does 922r apply to these rifles Sturmgewehre?

  • Great video. I love my Vz. 58. I think anyone who likes the AK platform owes it to themselves to try one of these also.

  • I have one, and it's not a bad rifle, but I don't find it to be that much better then AK, other then it feels a good deal lighter.

  • U can get one at aim for 300

  • @bigusmcWW2

As I mentioned in the video, that's a Century and it's not a real CZ made rifle.

  • waffenwerks offers the original model for $670 shipped, fixed stock, bayo lug, mag, sling, etc etc etc

  • I think you and your channel are going to go far. There is something great about your style and delivery, dont ever change it

  • Another great vid :) Do you know where you can get an origional CZ side folding stock ? Any that ive come across are all adaptors for AR stocks.

  • @gunhappyie

Try CzechPoint or Apex Gun Parts. I got mine from Ohio Ordnance years ago, they may still have them too.

  • Very good vid, thanks

  • It's CZECH, man, not Czechoslovakian, Czechoslovakia split up in 1993, since then it's Czech republic and Slovakia. Nevertheless, I take it you like our guns according to the video? :)

  • @MishKonn The rifle was developed circa 1958 when the country was not split, Therefore the rifles is cultural property of Czechoslovakia during the its time as a soviet satellite state. So your comment was unwarranted.

  • @MishKonn No its not CZECH man, the gun was designed and made in czechoslovakia.

  • What a fantastic rifle. I've had one for a while now... Still a wonderful rifle. I can not stress it enough, this rifle is awesome.

  • I've had one now for about 4 years and fired almost 5k rounds of surplus ammo without a single issue. They are great

  • Sexy, sexy rifle.

  • It's strange that CZ-858/Vz.58 are cheaper in Canada than in the States.

  • @ParabolicBox those are used exmilitary rifles from chezch. this is a brand gun all 100% new

  • @ParabolicBox I believe the Canadian dollar is valued a little higher than the US dollar right now, therefore you have more purchasing power. I dont really watch this closely I just remember hearing that on the financial news a few months ago. The report showed how trade shifts from one side of the border to the other because sometimes Canadians can buy more here with their currency and then it shifts back to where Americans can buy more things cheaper in Canada from time to time.

  • "MERIKA, FUCK YEAH! (osama's clone was killed)

  • We got bin laden yeahhh!!!

  • 13 buck magazines that will break 922r laws in the VZ-58s with the surplus furniture.

  • BIN LADEN IS DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @oPaRaLyZeRx he dieded

  • Fab Defence is another company that makes real good after market parts for this rifle.

Al there accessories come in three colors, Black, Desert tan, and OD Green.

  • czechpoint-usa is the main importer of all these rifles, so I wonder if CZ was getting them from czechpoint-usa?

  • @semiautoriflelover Czech Small Arms make both the CZUSA and Czechpoint USA sporter rifles ..

  • osama bin laden may be dead!!!

  • is that blythes in griffith? small world

  • @swrve

This is their Valpo store, but yes - same company.

  • @Sturmgewehre

just to let you know that my bolt of the vz58 broke

    so it happen

    but still a great rifle
