  • Which nuffy gave this the thumbs down? Cut your ears off mate, they're not worthy.

  • does anyone know what key this song is in??

  • Letter to Alan is a definate favorite for me but at 3:09 through to 4:02 and 4:27 to the end.......sends a shiver down my spine...Mossy and Steve are in another place...Fucking awesome then, now, and forever...Thanks Chisels for being there for the greatest memories of my youth.

  • I remember goin to the Old Melbourne hotel in Perth, when this was released in 1981. Sneaking in as underage as some mates said Chisel were playin. Well They opened with Taipain that rocked my guts, and then Letter to Alan. The intensity, tightness and take no prisoners style, made me play my own music, the way I wanted to. I still listen to em everyday and mimic their riffs, as to copy them is to tread in the company of angels. Thank God for Chisel .

  • @MrTomwoodford afuckingmen man..beautifully said...!

  • We believed and I still do

  • Circus Animals..fuckme what another amazing album by this amazingly talented group..they are a rock ikon..im proud to say i luv this band and all the wicked music you have given us..thankyou

  • Love the Aussie bands ~ yet this song is hurting my tender lil ears *Yikes*

  • not many bands can play like Cold Chisel. they are an honest band that gave us amazing songs. easily one of the most talented band in Australian history. Australian rock at its finest

  • I can remember just falling asleep in my bed at boarding school in Yeppoon back in 82 with headphones on. That slow thing (war is over) finished and there was a longer than normal gap. Album over. Sleep. Then this came on bright and sharp and like a knife in the ribs. And I always remember jumping to awake with a huge start - then another gap ("from later times.....) Ok, back to sleep - then the guitar and drums REALLY started. If you're serious about things, this a good song to drink it to.

  • Chisel will live forever in our souls. They are beyond corporate greed and populism. They speak to us.....the people who lived the lives they sing about.

  • The best fuckin Chisel song ever.Been 20 years since i heard this and im back in 83 and crying,Epic, tight, slick fucking song. Thanks for the memories.

  • this fucking smokes!!! Mossy is unstoppable, jimmy is is totally in control, and the band is just swingin!! and ohh,..that tone....fuck me dead!!!! This country will never witness a band like this in our lifetimes breaks my fuckin heart...

  • world class

  • The guitar tone at the tail end of that middle guitar solo gets me every time...around 3:50. Just beautiful...

    God bless you

  • such an emotional opening to a beautiful song and then mossy with a bit of a country twang develops into a strange but amazing rock song so full of chops n changes. love it and always will be a huge chisel moss barnes fan but as a drummer myself, phill small is a bass player i would be proud to jam with. his style developed superbly over the years, think goodbye astrid to sat nite and you will im sure all agree. cant forget steve and don.

  • as good as it gets chisel rockin the house

  • mossy fuckin kills it with the solos in this song plus barnesy is on fire. awseome song love chisel

  • INXS got some of their beat to this song. It meant a different thing to everybody weho heard it. Im sorry about Uncle Alan but what a life he would have left. :Never trust "The wayside chapel" crowd on Christmas eve". What a great SYDNEY LINE.

  • Barnsey's whole crew was a very tight group and really treated everyone like family, we did 3 shows in NZ, double header with Iggy Pop...it was insane, the crowd was made up of family groups to see Barnesy mixed with hard nuts who came to see Iggy...what a crowd..Iggy kept complainig about the stage coverings...rugs....we all stayed in the same hotels..the Air NZ flight from Wellington to Christ Church was a blast..we took over the plane..does anyone know whatever happened to "Sneaky Pete"?

  • Barnesy's songs touch my heart to this day...Kaitlynjade , I'msorry about your uncle and his mate, tragic, but he'll never be forgotten.

I worked for Barnsey a few years later, I think it was in 88, we did the Barnstorming tour of Oz & NZ,
