  • at 5:02, the asain police officer Jim Chu now is the head of the Vancpuver Police Department, he saved someone's life during the 94 riot and it was brodcast pn national TV.

  • Omg

  • No more NHL RIOTS!

  • America woundn't do this... Over a hockey game

  • @LEECHESANDCREAM:They do over concerts

  • "What we would have expect to see in a big American city." What a pretentious bitch. Typical arrogance/snobbery of many Vancouverites.

  • @TheNyrangersrule16 Truth hurts doesn't it American ?

  • I was 13 when these riots happened.

Nobody does a hockey riot like the city of Vancouver.... Hopefully we won't have to go through this sh*t for a third time....

  • The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from NY are responsible for the Canucks' big loss and massive riot in 1994!

Go Canucks! Let's blame Zordon, Alpha 5 and the entire Power Rangers team!

  • Democracy for Canucks!

    Dictatorship for Bruins!

  • when i watch this i have the feeling that the people are less concerned about not winning the cup, but that they are bored, cannot bear drinking alcohol, and have too much money, knowing their parents can pay the damage they've made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just got out of metro-town in the 2011 riot just 1 minute before the riot started i got home in time before i got caught in the riot

  • Boston Bruins is currently ruled under the dictatorial captain Zdeno Chara, that's why the Canucks lost the 2011 Stanley Cup finals 4-0 on June 15.

    Canucks are democratic!

    Bruins are dictatorial!

That's why Boston will not make the Stanley Cup in June 2012!

  • Even though I was'nt born then and I live in Vancouver . i think Vancouver was a bunch of sore losers. Thumbs Up if you think

My town vancouver was a bunch of sore losers.

  • @disneyland5001 yes they were i am am american all respect for canadians but they should of kept their head high and congratulated boston just liek boston would do them

  • Let's go rangers

  • Tell this guy below me how many riots America had

  • All I know is Americans wouldn't do this

  • @XxTBL91xX Well let me give you some riots that the Americans did *starts to play banjo*

  • LMAO most likely seen in a big american city

  • lol You can't go "these people aren't Canadians. Please ignore them." wtf? You think 'real' Canadians aren't capable of acting stupid. Mob mentality isn't unique to one country or race. Idiocy is universal. Just accept that young, drunk, idiots all gathering together in a crowd is not conductive to good behaviour. Yes, and they were probably all mostly Canadians. Dead with it.

  • @MrMoldyPickles the dude at the end playing o canada is hilarious!

nonetheless, ppl from other countries must be laughing at us as we speak. Riots from other countries mostly have a meaning to it (end war, government sucks, etc.), we just nagged about losing a game! seriously, I totally agree with you. REAL canadian hockey fans lose with GRACE. We go home and face our defeat, not do stupid things in the streets. lol.

  • Comment removed

  • History repeats itself and this pathetic Canada

  • Canucks' war against the dictatorial regime of Zdeno Chara and the Boston Bruins!

  • we take our hockey very seriously

  • Know the enemies tactics and use them against them. Riot police are dead meat if you pile on them instead of running away.

  • @MrMoldyPickles and 17 years later, what happened? I guess only ice hockey can do that in Canada...? But don't get me wrong, hockey might do that to people in my country as well (I guess these are the only two countries where it could happen :D )

  • i live in canada this just is HORRIBLE for there country, IT'S JUST A FRIKEN CUP GET OVER IT NO ONE ELSE RIOTS WHEN THEY LOSE (not that i know of)

  • You guys realize this was a couple years after the LA riots right? I don't think it was a cheap shot at America :S

  • GO HOME RIOTER OR WERE SHOT YOU INSTANTLY

    WHAT INFAMOUS DECADE

  • that american comment was a bitch move, there was no fucking need for that

  • @semtexcam33 I was at the 2004 Red Sox "roit" I was right in the middle of it the whole night, and it looked nothing like this video. There were at lot less fights, arrest and alot less police action. It did get kind of rough for few but not even close to that. It was much more of a Boston style celebration then a riot, 1994 and 2011 were staight up loser riots becusae the cunucks suck

  • Gotta love a good LOSER RIOT, this years was even better then 94, lets try to make it the best ever next year ! and hope maybe Kessler wont cry as hard

  • I saw same thing in Vancouver in this year.

  • lol the 1994 stanley cup final game 7 is on NHL network right now

  • @199heat no Canada is not pathetic, i could say a million things about other countries, your profile says you're from the US, i have lots of fam and friends in US and you're gov has serious probs, your gov actually killed innocent ppl in Afghan and thousands in Iraq, Pakistan who knows where else, maybe it would be easier if they brought camera so we could all see it. So no Canada is not pathetic maybe time for you to look in mirror ? Look at Man In the Mirror buddy ~ Michael Jackson song

  • @withorwithoutyou8 i think you replied to the wrong guy bro...

  • @199heat sry i meant for matt13r1

  • @199heat:History repeated itself 17 years later when they lost the final game with Boston.

  • this video gets a dislike for the comment she makes about this being common in a big American city

  • @MrMoldyPickles i know how you feel man. thats not how i see Canadiens or the REAL canuck fans. I know that most Canadians like yourself have a lot of class and are polite. this is coming from an american by the way, and this has occurred many times here. i understand completely.

  • honestly the next time vancouver season is about to end they just pre-taze the whole fucking crowd... i'm american and it's sad to watch our neighbors to the north look like shit cus of this...

  • hahah, and this happened again! canucks fans, you are sore ass losers!

  • our parents did it and now we did it! hahahah

  • This is the REAL canada

  • Canadians should build a cage around Vancouver.

  • @snakesinahouseparty

look dont link all of vancouver in this riot. I wasent involved yet i still live in vancouver.

  • hahahahah its just like iraq

  • @Idespisechristians Vancouvistan !

  • All the people whoo rioted this year and at the 94 playoff finals are defenatly not true Canucks fans

  • @supralex1 the irony of an american calling canadians arrogant

  • @pookerville so it will make less money?

  • and the guy that kicks the starbucks sign to pieces is wearing a Durham Bulls cap

  • classy city lol losers ebarrasing to canada 2 for 2 riots when the canucks lost game 7 and there is no reason to belive it will happen agian sadly.

  • lol ima rangers fan

  • "How could this happen HERE? We would expect this in a large AMERICAN city!"

    LOL gotta love arrogant Canadians

  • @supralex1 Arrogant Canadians STILL don't even come close to the arrogance of Americans. That's the funny thing.

  • SLAM DANCING!

  • Bunch of animals haha..how sad

  • it happened before too?....

  • i LOVED this NY celebrating while Canada was rioting RANGERS!

  • I got a better idea: let the Trashers stay in Winnipeg and move the Canucks to Quebec City!

  • typical morons

  • Holy which is deadlyer the 1994 riot or the 2011 riot

  • @xXxGu3n3tt3xXx i'd say 1994

  • @9658 ahhh i don't know there both like the same but yeah i also now think that 1994 was deadlyer now

  • @xXxGu3n3tt3xXx they had a throw down pit.. and after all the hardcore concerts i've been to. that starts mega shit lol.. but ya 94 was crazy

  • "It's hard to say if these people are Canucks fans or people who are just bent on some sort of destruction." Aren't those the same thing? Anyone who bites other players in a sporting event is revealing the poor character of the city they play for.

  • history repeats itself lol

  • Vancouver must've always been butthurt.

  • PROUD to be canadian

  • Um, last time I checked Canada was part of North America, so TECHNICALLY, Vancouver is an American city. Duh.

  • was SNFU playing a gig there on the streets? cant imagine why else there would be a mosh pit and someone wearing a DOA shirt unless a punk band was playing haha. wish i could have been there!

  • lol oh Canada XD that dude is awesome

  • THE MULLET

BUSINESS AT THE FRONT, PARTY AT THE BACK

  • Well, there was nothing to do aboot it

  • In regards to all the posts regarding "typical canadian" and "YOUR country's national embarassment"...........this is footage of the 1994 riot........not the 2011 one...

So all of your remarks regarding the hairstyles here, make you look fairly silly. As THIS WAS 1994 AND THAT'S HOW PEOPLE IN CANADA AND AMERICA WORE THEIR HAIR. Silly kids.

Not all Canucks fans are complete idiots like those who rioted, and many of the rioters were tracked as being from Washington. Just saying. Go Canucks Go! <3

  • got to the time of 2:48 in the video, look at the guy mullet. typicall canadien

  • what are they saying about american cities

  • 8:00, FLAMED

  • i love how they have a happy intro for this....

  • ¿Esto es el primero mundo? Ni en áfrica...

  • @SrDavidRuiz .......Hermano que sorpresa la de los mas civilizados, y eso que el tercer mundo somos los latinos y africanos.

  • look closely at 3:12 there is a guy with a camera .....maybe we can develop the film and some of these aholes will have to pay for this crap................whoops sorry wrong riot......where do you go for 2011 riot?

  • In 94 it was a bunch of grown men so it seemed more dangerous, this year it was just a bunch of stupid drunk kids. 94 had just a more angry atmostphere in general

  • wtf, the cop has a canucks sticker on his chest

  • It seems as though the same things happened back then, and there were a lot more people doing the actual rioting

  • the thrashers should stay in Atlanta and the canucks should move to Winnipeg...

  • anyone ever watch gangland...thats the kind of dancing aryan brothers do

  • @AngeltheMartian same problems

  • LISTEN TO FIRE DEPARTMENT DURING VANCOUVER RIOT: youtube.com/watch?v=UiIVDxmNZBo

TRANSIT SKYTRAIN AND POLICE DURING RIOT: youtube.com/watch?v=GlI_9J9DOO8

  • @AngeltheMartian it was 17 years ALMOST to the day

  • It is just a real let down that people in general, whether Canadian or American, act in this manner at all. There is too much hate in the world and destruction everywhere. Why cause more of the same. There is much more at work here than losing a simple game, it is Alcohol (mostly) mixed with drugs and stress/ anger. It is sickening to see the city I grew up in, that was once so laid back, turn in to a regular cesspool. I live in Japan, the people here lost much more but act dignified.

  • this is nothing compared to a few days ago

  • VANCOUVER SHOULD RIOT MORE AGAINST NWO LOL

  • the lady really p!ssed me off with that American Comment!

  • @lady7410 When in the video? I didn't hear it

  • @lady7410

What is so annoying about the truth?

This is a picture you would expect to see in a big "American" city........

However Canada has had its share of riots as well, Montreal knows a thing or two about riots.

  • i dont think that the canucks should play hockey

  • @punx3rocker >:(

  • @punx3rocker Yeah, we wouldn't want tyo see Canadian's play a Canadian sport now would we dipshit?

  • i lol'd about this and i lol'd about the one now

  • im sad im canadan :(

  • Sad thing is... id still wouldnt rather live in America.

  • @predster14 LOL ya im barracading my windows when that happens.

  • @afghanmanyeah Actually Canadian football is better than american and Hockey is WAY better than baseball. and Canada is rated much better in many area (including health care) than the states... and a country filled with Canadians is good, a city filled with douche bags (not everyone) is not so fun...

  • Wow........you could have just used this report and commentary from 94 for today. Vancouver, you are nothing but a bunch of pussy-whipped douchebags. You let those Eminem wannabees run riot over you city? Make no mistake. These punks were going to riot no matter what. And they appear to be mainly rich white or asian kids doing most of the damage Thank God your forefathers were not as pussified as you all are today......you wouldn't even have a country.

  • @velvet01able Hey man there Douche bag red Necks in every city... just sometimes i think the balance is alittle off in my city.... :(

  • Canada - 2/3 strikes.

  • Vancouver is filled with socialist gutless losers - kinda like their GM and Burrows, and ieksa, and LaPierre , no guts, no brians, losers, quitter.

  • @rowerrunner LOL oh ya thous four people are totally appropriate and open minded to judge a whole city. and Socialist??? Man you guy still got the red scare down their? man how long can a nation be afraid of something for? well i guess the U.S.' History is build entirely around fear so it makes sense that your still scared of communism decades after its downfall, sounds gutless. and about Quitters, the U.S. are the king of quitter, what about vietnam, korea, somalia, and Iraq? o'so much qutting.

  • 4:10....the staple of any riot....destroy Starbucks!!!!

  • @Azorka64 No, Balonga

  • this would never have happend if the canucks didnt suck dick at hockey

  • History always repeats. Canadians are disgusting barbarians. I should know I spent a whole month there with my cousin. Yech

  • Gooood doggy.....gooood doggy....

  • This is "what normally happens in an American city"? Name one time an American city rioted over a hockey game.

  • vancouver police act like they didint know its was goin to happen hmmm huge group of pissed off people 1994 riot 2010 riot lol

  • TOP 5 FIGHTS OF RIOT MY PAGE

  • lol 2:13 mosh pit = smosh pit

  • where are all the jerseys?

  • "The images are more what we expect to see in an American city."

Way to take a shot at America in what was YOUR country's national embarrassment, you 80s haired freak.

  • @MrAudacity11 What a DOUCHE.......(The Lady)!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrAudacity11 why only americans? why do we have to not care ? becaz we are canadians? we lost a cup but didn lost our brain

  • @MrAudacity11 well at least ours was because of sports not a savage beating of a black man by police....

  • @uberhaxor69 Yes, we get it...America also spawns violent thugs...the differences is...we admit it.

  • @MrAudacity11 should have shot them with rubber bullets

  • "The images of riot are what we'd expect to see in a Big American City..."

What BS. Welcome to the club Canada. Two times; same city.

Instead of pretending it happens else where, you should look in the mirror and deal with it. (Putting on Shades)

  • @TheFaustianMan well in the early nineties the USA had some serious national race riots, so its not an unfair statement.

  • @897667 You're comparing something with gravity such as race riots to something completely useless such as a stanley cup? Lol?

  • @floopsie666 not comparing the causes at all, but saying there were a shit load of riots across the US around the time this was made, so its still a fair statement

  • @897667

Actually, it is an unfair statement.

Please note the reason WHY the riot occurred.

For the United States, particularly in California, the riot was sparked at a perceived injustice and racial inequality.

In Vancouver, the riot was sparked merely because the city's hockey team lost.

Which do you think is a more reasonable cause for a group of people to become so mad as to tear their own city apart: "The cops got off killing my child" or "I lost $20 bucks on that stupid team"

  • @Watcher3223 your confusing cause and affect.

  • @897667 you mean cause and EFFECT....sorry

  • @897667

In other words, it doesn't matter WHY it happened?

Granted, a riot is bad either way and makes the people in the subject cities look bad.

BUT, to have a riot occur merely over a trivial issue such as a team losing a sporting event is worse than a riot due to a perceived serious miscarriage of justice that was believed to have been racially motivated.

This makes the people of Vancouver seem far more trifling and uncivilized compared to the people of Los Angeles.

    And it's "effect."

  • @Watcher3223 grammatically in english im saying the statement in her words is not false, because she only talks about the effect, (the riot in the statement) compared to what your saying the cause, being a hockey game or race riot.

And i dont agree with the rioting, im just saying your offended when you shouldn't be. I mean the fact that you had so many race riots is quite shamefull of your country, in the shadow of how your country was founded, rather than like hockey game.

  • @897667

    Darn right I was offended.

As far I as I observe, many places are not much better or worse than the USA when it comes to civil discourse and their consequences, so I take issue with people who ignore their own failings as human beings while disproportionately taking issue with those in the States.

  • @Watcher3223 I don't know historically It is the states with appalling civil discourse, from being the last western country to ban slavery to the worst civil rights records in recent history, and the racism that looms of America today (go to any video of the race riots and the top rated comment is a racist comment). Whereas this is just mindless drunk vandalism, you have to admit the real cause of this is alcohol, its just a lot of drunk people turning back to the barbarian in themselves.

  • @Watcher3223 to be honest i think we both agree they are bad, which is worse doesn't really matter. I was just saying there's no reason to be offended.

  • @897667 "the fact that you had so many race riots is quite shamefull of your country ... rather than like hockey game."

While I don't like the fact that race riots did occur, people were treated differently merely because of the color of their skin. Riots, particularly those of the 1960s, was the result of frustration out of being oppressed through marginalization. And, at least, they were steps toward better tolerance in that regard, despite bumps along the way.

  • @897667

At least that kind of reason for the violence is far easier to understand and has better implications towards learning lessons to help make things better for society.

Mind you, understanding does not equate to excusing.

But what's Vancouver's reason for their riots? Losing stupid hockey games. At least the race riots in the States had a more noble, if misguided, reason.

And, note the pluralized form of :"riot" and "game," this was not the only time this happened in Vancouver.

  • @897667

And, just in case, "misguided" as in using senseless violence in a negative, non-discriminatory fashion to fight for desired positive changes.

  • @Watcher3223

You have every reason to be offended. For what it's worth, I'm a Canadian, a born-and-bred West Coaster, and I lived in Vancouver for many years. There's an obnoxious sense of entitlement and exceptionalism all throughout this country, mostly because we've been too lazy to seek a national definition apart from being not-American. Since 1994, though, I think the rational majority of Canadians have realized "How could it happen here?" is, at best, an appallingly ignorant question.

  • @TheFaustianMan PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!! LOLOLOL

  • Questions about how the police handled the situation? Considering what went down & how these IDIOTS were acting...They're lucky more people weren't killed. I think if these rioters(not sports fans) got hurt, they DESERVED IT & then some! I think the police handled it as best they could, considering the chaos all around them. And people always seem to forget one thing...What would u do in the same situation? Humans are not infallible, you shouldn't expect the cops to be in that EXTREME situation.

  • not at all fans

  • Damn "Party-goers"!

  • You have to remember 17 and 18 year olds were fueled by Rage Against the Machine back then :)

  • Holy shit. The recent one was tame compared to this. Still, a riot over a game? Even my fellow Americans need to chill out. It's a fuckin' sports game. Not some political stranglehold.

  • 3:27 it's like a mechanical bull!

  • The cop at 5:30 looks just like Hall of Fame baseball player Wade Boggs!

  • Its a shame because Vancouver is a very nice city.

  • seeing riots like this im only hoping for more police brutality..

damn.. should've let the dogs out on all those fuckwits

  • Worst reason to riot much??

  • Like a big American city.........WTF you never see American cities riot over sports teams losses or very big ones anyways. Stupid canadiens!

  • @ACDCgibson3 *Canadians

    Herp Derp american football.

  • @ACDCgibson3 it's Canadians

  • hahaha someone yelled fuck u pig xD

  • ur an idiot

  • I'm not ashamed of the riots, but the motivation for them.

  • I actually did get arrest and got charged with public violation or something but its all good now I have a job and 2 daughters ;)

  • i didnt see this until today

  • tupac probly saw this

  • those who does not learn the history are always doom to repeat it again

  • one time, i would say it was just an isolated incident..........but the very next time vancouver goes to the finals and it happens again? it is habitual and it is a reflection of who vancouver people are. monsters.
