Cheney, the de facto President for 8 yrs is still running the world as well as the Obama admin. Funding the Iraq, Afghan & wars on terror were supplemental & off budget under Cheney. Now they are all in budget. Add TARP, Medicare Pt D, the DOD budget, & you get an Obama deficit of 7 trillion before he took office. Obama cannot dig out of the mess, cannot reverse 10% official unemplm't which is the reason why the RNC took back the House & cannot win in Afghanistan. Cheney is still president
Governments (at least democratic ones) are answerable to the people, companies answer to no-one. A company's interest in their bottom-line is near-sighted, they will save money NOW hoping disaster will never strike, then when it does strike you get bumbling idiots like BP who will more than likely be saved later by governments because 'they're too big to fail'. No system is fool-proof but in a democracy people ought to choose their leaders responsible, who chooses companies?
Why trust governments to regulate oil etc.more than industry. There seems even more corruption/ lying & silliness in so many country's governments ?
It is not Fool proof ..I would think. At least the guys in industry, are driven by profit, future prospects, and share holder opinion to find effective , sensible methods to do what they do well. Of course they too don't always do the right thing either. Anyway, thanks for the insights on Cheney ,a very untrustworthy fellow... that was obvious.
