Well, to be a solid drummer is a good thing. And he does some intersting tom-shit on some songs. Interesting bass drum patterns on some others. Not that "thrash" by any means but I mean what does he have to do? Light his farts on fire while he does a drum roll?

And if you mean that he's over-rated, I firmly agree. There's other drummers that surpasses him in skill, but that doesn't mean that he's capable (or were) in his craft.

They obviously realized that glam was on its way out and were losing their shot at the big time fast and had to make a switch or blow it. Phil's heavier influences allowed them that transition. No matter what era of Pantera you refer to, Dime's prowess still shines through.

-core is a sub-genre of Hardcore, no matter how commercial, horrible and wannabe-Metal it's become, ergo, it does not belong in the same category as "every metal band".

Pantera still has more in common with 90's/2000's try-hard Hardcore than they do Metal, and they still influenced every shitty faux-Metal trend since the mid-90's. They still suck.

It's a simple change, but it makes the difference, and just having Metal influence doesn't make it a Metal sub-genre. It's a lot easier to see when you go to the earlier/good Metalcore bands, as most today are just trendy commercial bands (most of which have no idea where the term "Metalcore" comes from, and actually think they're playing Metal).
