  • I have always loved these brothers. They rocked the 70's.

  • holy shit! is this cool! i always loved the isleys, they were different and really the first r&b band to cross over...

    THANKS FOR POSTING, MATE!

  • Love the 70's era Isley records. They didn't miss a step adapting to the funk era, did they? It was particularly an inspired idea to not only bring Ernie into the group, but to give him plenty of room to solo. Definitely one of the more underrated guitarists of that era.

  • @Kohntarkosz underrated to this day!

  • Dancy soul

  • BRILLIANT

  • Not me...take this version by them hands down especially that guitar..who blows my mind

  • Good performance and good cover. But, I like Seals & Crofts' original version better.

  • that is the shiznit

  • Funkin hell!

They sure don't make em' like that any more

  • @xemomimix no, unfortunately not!

  • His two older brothers look like line backers.

  • Wow this is my 1st time seeing a live performance on Soul Train, when I watched it was always lipsyncing!!! Reminds me of my parents R.I.P.

  • 1:42 and 3:03 are my faves!!!

  • They put soul in this song...it was very nice before they laid down their version.. but they stole the show on this classic.

  • f*ck me, this is a colossal performance of an immense song.

plus, i wish my missus would make my tea when i got home from work - they didn't mess about in the 70s, did they?!

    x

  • Simply suberb and a wonderful live performance.

  • ooh this reminds me of hanging my head out the car window and singing along on our way to the beach...

  • this song has the perfect marriage of funk and smooth sailing chilll....

  • my god thats the best version ive ever heard of that track!!!

  • Magnificent! Thanks for posting friend. maurice

  • CLASSIC...U GOTTA LUV IT. LONG LIVE THE ISLEY BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a cool, great number!

  • this is the jam

  • i remember this song from back when i was little bitty kid... see ur older brothers sister and their friends would come over and bring there records and you would sit there with a pepsi and listen and watch them dance and act fool all summer night long. they would always use the little kids as back ups like the pips or tito ! lol no cussing, fighting or shooting.... i miss those days.

  • @naturalblkluv

sounds like good times, chief. i'm from the north of england, and probably a seemingly totally different background from you, but maybe not so much on closer inspection.

the days you're describing are when people in europe had respect and liking for people and culture in the usa. how did it get to the situation where u let the money men and voracious capitalists bastardise your and our culture and society so much?

  • @roccotina

sorry if it sounds like criticism, but you are probably so much subject to the propaganda over there that what i'm saying doesn't make sense perhaps.

either way, the working classes - i.e. 90 per cent of society should stick together and enjoy a pleasanter, simpler life.

they got rid of mubarack and gadaffi, didn't they?

    hope you're well over there

    take care

  • it looked like ernie was making love to the guitar

  • A M A Z I N G vocals

  • eanest isley was 1 of the best heavy metal guiarisists ever to walk the planet.listen to 3+3 and that is a rock album.taught young jimmy james to play,

  • respectfully disagree with the comments about never making music like this... Im 26, love my 'older' stuff more than anything, but there are a hell of a lot of great bands and singer song writers out there, as emotive as these guys - its just hidden by a huge amount of rubbish!

  • @oarsome4 Fuckin heard ye man, music that moves you come,s from every genre. Then again you got clowns here callin the Isley Brothers assholes?Sheeeeiiiittt man, whats that all about.

  • Classic

  • LOVE THE ISLEY BROS

  • this song always made me think of the trips to Alantic City on those warm summer days

  • love this song on this nice and warm July evening.....

  • WTF!! this aint fair!!! Seals and Clofts Sing this and these assholes copy them!

  • @marcoborota What does it matter if they remade this song? And why would you call them assholes? Plenty of artists remake songs. Are you gonna comment on every one of them?

  • Love this song

  • Mmmmm mmmm mmmmm, they don't make music like this anymore....

  • They will never make music like this again, that's sad

  • Sexy big dude, putting his thing down. Go, sexy baby!

  • my favourite song of all time. saw them in bristol in mid 90's - waited ages for them to arrive in their tour bus - when they did - what a disappointment - ron isley couldn't be bothered giving autographs, and had no time at all to speak to the handful of waiting fans. Thank goodness for marvin isley who had time for an autograph and a photo.

  • I never get tired of this video. Wished I could have seen them back in the day live. Real soul will never die.

  • wow what a contrast! An amazing cover, I mean, this is the core of why you cover something, get the whole thing and then take it someplace new. Dare I say better? Whatever, it's fantastic..and yet an entire audience that can't dance...so pathetic! Such an inspired beautiful funky tune and the entire audience can't dance. Too funny, fire the produce - cut away, cut away!

  • This performance was so beautiful it made me cry. I miss music like this.

  • brother in the white gettin down @ 2:47

  • lmaoooo! these folks are bumping.i got to learn the elbow throwing dance the brother in the cream is doing. and he got the Junebug Spade chains on.Classic! but these boys were it!

  • That was KILLER! Ernie Isley is right up there with Jimi Hendrix, Dave Gilmour, Ritchie Blackmore Yngwie Malmsteen and Robin Trower in terms of making a frnder strat sound very damn good!

  • MAANN!! It's goin DOWN baby!!!

  • the end was too soon

  • I'm a diehard soul/funk fan, and these guys are tops....they are my GODS!!!

  • good 2 c the brothers show these young bucks how 2 do it

  • I'm surprised that the audience didn't start babymakin right then and there.

  • @tommomann585 LMAO!!!!

  • guru

  • Just cant stop watching this vid!!!!

  • get 'em!!!!

  • A great song about coming home from work! Simple and wonderful!!!

  • Just proves my mottto, Music knows no color......Good Music is good music no matter who is playing it.

  • omg ernie is killn that guitar...

  • I know I'm only 21 and young, but the summer I graduated I met the love of my life, and we listen to this song in his car, just looking into each other eyes while it was raining. Now everytime I hear this song I think of that night...;-)

  • That really sounds good.

  • Previous post: We'll forgive your stupidity this time. This is 1974.How in the world could that be ?uestlove ?

  • Is that ?uestlove on the drums? did anybody peep that! lol Great Music

  • Sexy Beautiful, Rock it Ronnie!!

  • Ernie Isley makes that Strat sing like no other!

  • Great song! To imagine jamming this tough to a song about coming home from work! Yes, this may be one of the best music performances ever.

  • Ernie Isley is my co-pilot!

  • How'd he do that at 4:08 - 4:18?? He is awesome!!

Agreed with @derekgharris Ernie Isley needs his props!

  • You can convert this or any youtube video to an mp3 at audiogetnow..com

  • Look at them..Rudolph's stiff azz thought he could dance with his cool azz. Those my boys and I just love 'em...I co-sign with below, this is a classic live performance on Soul Train. Not many could do live for Don C.

  • @eyesley They are handsome though in those clothes...Pure soul, no improvising.

  • Ernie Isley, under the tutelage of Jimmy Hendryx, the shit don't get no better than that!

  • love this song.

  • ernie isley was like 20 when this came out.. umph lovely

  • one of the most underrated guitarist in the world, ernie isley

  • This is a true concert on Soul Train from true legends. Don must've loved the Isleys because he rarely let anyone perform live on the show but the Stevie and James Brown and Curtis Mayfield or other great cats like that. LOVE THIS!

  • Check out Rudolph. The boy can party. What happened to the Music ? It's a shame that when these artist are gone, we will never get this kinda music again. All we will have is what they left behind.

  • You can't get any colder that the Isley Brothers.

  • @MDVEEJAZZ ...Shoot...If they were any colder they would be frozen!!! Lol. Just gives me goosebumps!!!

  • this singer is killer cool

  • Ernie is bad to

  • I Love how the older original brothers look like pimps. Just when I thought all Soul Train performers lip sinked. Ron Killed this song. RIP Marvin!!

  • RIP MArvin ISley

  • The string action looks pretty high off the neck of Ernie's strat, but he handled it though.

  • i remember being 16 yes old when a young man wanted to impress me, so he started singing this to me, well my head was spinning but my Father being in the house and heard it wasn't :) ohhh the days of youth....Lady L.

  • at thier hite, they were the best, and boy could rock, a show bad, bad, you could'nt sit still bad ass, isley brothers. bad
