I think the only reason their doing a "passing the torch" idea is so Ghostbusters can continue on. When they all finally pass away it would be a matter of time before some director decides to take new cast of people and do a cheesy remake. But by them passing the torch on to a new cast it lets ghostbusters story continue and they always will be the founding Fathers of it and there will never be a "remake" cuz you can just continue on with sequels for the new generation to have their ghostbusters

@Ian74263 I agree with Carrell..he is just a classic comedy actor..but Leonardo is not that good with smart comedy..he can be dramatic, but not at a competing level with Murray and Ramis. Tracy Morgan will make it too silly... Infact Ernie said last October 2009 that Ghostbusters 3 will be here in May 2011 and he said that everyone is in. But, I will say that having someone like Steve Carrel would be a great thing in this movie. He is one of the very few actors who can compete on that level with the greats like Murray.

It's been reprted many many times that everyone is in Ghostbusters 3. Dan Aykroyd said that along with Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman and Ernie Hudson himself. Infact Ernie said last October 2009 that Ghostbusters 3 will be here in May 2011 and he said that everyone is in. Look at the reports and it will say that everyone is in GB3 and Harold said that filming will began this June 2010 for a 2011 release and Ernie said Fall 2010 so Summer/Fall 2010 filming will start and it's coming in May 2011!!

Now that I've read that Ghostbusters 3 is officially pronounced, I really have to fight myself not to cry from being so happy :..D
I don't care if there's new members in it, it's been 20 years now since GB2. Rather have some new guys in the movie than have the whole movie CGI made. It's Ivan Reitman, he'll do a fine job for us fans, there's no reason not to have faith in this movie :)
