i have own the ason martin dbs and i can say that from 0-150kmh the DBS i faster than most cars the m3 and m5 thats shows in videos here thats takes the dbs is not standard cars or the drive over 150kmh..and the reason they faster after 150kmh is the rpm the aston stops at 6500 and the bmw and ather cars goes from 7500 to 8500 so thats why but to 150kmh the aston realy fast

It's the 2nd... why? Because of the Gallardo... The Audi had to be slower than the 1st gen Gallardo, so they have no rivalry inside

The 4.2 FSi doesnt have the low end torque to match the Aston, hence the big leap the Aston made in 2nd gear...

It' doesnt have the high end torque either

Audi's Quattro helped the Audi during first gear a bit, so it was not such a disaster....

After 2nd, they weren't even trying, cause it would be a massacre for the R8

Not quite, The new Vipers and Corvettes are very light cars for the enthusiast, weighing in the low 3000 lbs. An Aston is actually a lot like a Viper or a Corvette in many ways, just a lot more refined. It has the same broad torque band, may be a bit less torque, but the engine breathes better than in a Vette or a Viper. The Audi though has a 4.2 litre engine, only 430 NM are developed quite high in the range. So once Audi's traction advantage at low speeds is over , the Aston takes it out.

@EICSpyderDBS Yes, I understand, but again, what separates the Aston form the Viper is a lot of refinement. The idea behind the Viper is brilliant, however the finish is too crude and little attention to detail was given (esp on the first generation model) , as the engine is way to heavy to provide good power past 6000 rpm. The build quality is not the best too. This is why the Viper costs what it costs.

@EICSpyderDBS Again the point is GT cars need to have engines that are not high revving and preferably not overly force induced, since their engine is supposed to last a long time and have a good power band, this one of the key aspects what makes Astons great GT cars. Maserati has gone a different route with their GT by using a detuned Ferrari high revver, in my opinion one of the worst ideas ever, as the Maserati would hardly come out of service rooms if driven with any sort of enthusiasm.

You may be 20, but you act like you are 10.... British cars have gone a long way in reliability since the Leyland days, Jaguars have a very high JD rating (same as merc, speaking of German cars) and Astons are some of the most practical exotics.

By the way, your Bentley might have a massive W12 but it also has 2000 lb + of arse over ANY Aston Martin, hence even the little V8 vantage (previous generation 4.3 L V8) pulls ahead of the GT. The GT is too massive to outperform any competition.

I think the R8 would win on a track where it's smaller weight, Mid Rear layout, and quattro would give it a definite edge on the corners, but this is just a raw power comparison, hence the AVT V12 with massive torque would push the Aston ahead. Plus in dragtests raw power would give the car a better and better advantage over the lighter less powerful car as speed increases, so I think they just slowed down there ( when the video ended)
