  • Tsem Rinpoche took ordination from His Holiness Dalai Lama. During Rinpoche's time in Gaden Shartse monastery, he was famed for his incredible guru devotion and utmost respect to his Gurus. Till today, the sangha still recall how Rinpoche served his Gurus and keep it as the standard to follow.

This is Tsem Rinpoche meeting the Dalai Lama for the first time: blog.tsemtulku[dot]com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/me/requesting-ordination-in-1987.html

  • what does Tsemtulku REALLY think about EVERYTHING?

check out Rinpoche's personal thoughts, stories and lots of up to date news & updates at his newly started personal blog, which he writes in almost every day: blog (dot ) tsemtulku (dot )com

  • there should be more videos like these! especially in this political climate. it is very inspiring to see Tsem Rinpoche speak so highly about Dalai Lama - it is a timely and important reminder for us to always focus and meditate on the good qualities of every lama, or every person we meet, instead of just getting caught up in politics and criticising / judging

  • I heard the Dalai Lama is gon get some homeys together and do a drive by on dat fool

  • why do u say that he is a cheater?

  • DS is completely represented by WSS. No one talked about DS in the west until WSS did.

NKT is WSS, from conception through today.

This new attempt to portray NKT as suddenly Dalai Lama-friendly comes too late, unfortunately.

If NKT has had a change of policy and heart, it will have to spend as many years (or more) counteracting its original propaganda as it did generating it.

  • Wow! It's a pleasure to listen to such an eloquent Rinpoche. And he is gorgeous (yes I know it's a shallow comment, but he is). Despite all the controversy surrounding HH, Tsem Rinpoche still believes in him. Find out more about Tsem Rinpoche on his website so that you can judge his credibility and thus trust his devotion to HH. And perhaps we too can open our eyes to HH beyond the controversy.

  • If we criticize someone, we are actually criticizing ourselves as it is a reflection of who we really are because we are able to recognise that particular fault. If we ourselves do not have that fault in us, we would not know hence would be able to criticize. I got this teaching from one of Rinpoche's twitter You can catch Tsem Rinpoche on twitter too.

  • Despite what is happening i still believe the Dalai Lama is a Bodhisattva and so is Tsem Tulku Rinpoche! Why I say that because great teachers/masters never criticize any teacher. We are not monks/nuns how can we criticize a sangha member, what kind of -ve karma wld we be collecting when we do tht?

  • I didn't hear one thing about what the Buddha taught; hence, this cannot have anything to do with Buddhism.

  • Dalai Lama said that today's world require Rinpoche's who self-recognize themselves to show the power of Tantra and prove to the world of the power of Buddhism.

  • Lama is a epithet for our spiritual guide and it literally means one without fault. That refers not necessarily to the personality here but what we should view of him for our practice.

  • The way Rinpoche talk about HH the Dalai Lama hints about his Guru devotion and how he views his great masters with tender care, understanding and pure view. Although possessing such devotion, he sees them in the light of reality and practicality.

  • The equivalent of a leader of the Buddhist faith is Holiness the Dalai Lama although it is not officially recognized by all Buddhist countries. He has crossed so many borders, it is incredible and through his kindness, he along with innumerable Lamas like Tsem Rinpoche have brought Tibetan Buddhism to what it is today.

  • Many people use the Dalai Lama's name and certain teachings for political reasons and manipulation. When I hear HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, he uses it to illuminate other's of His Holiness' qualities just like the way good students would talk of their teachers. Neat!

  • His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that due to the kindness of the Chinese, who have 'forced' Buddhism preserved in Tibet all over the world! This statement is unique way at looking at the Tibetan holocaust and His Holiness' state of mind.

  • Dalai Lama is fantastic. He is holy, he is a Buddha and spiritual leader to millions but to me H E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche is my Lama and because of his teachings i know the Buddha's teachings and the Dalai Lama. To me Tsem Rinpoche is fantastic.

  • I think more importantly, Dalai Lama raised the status of Tibetan Buddhism from a cult-like faith to become a world religion. There is no other Buddhist leader who can equal the Dalai Lama in his promotion of the Dharma.

  • I believe the Dalai Lama was the one who found several great monasteries and institutions. One is Tashi Lhumpo which was later offered to Dalai Lama's Guru, Panchen Lama. Another is the famous Potala Palace and another is Chokhor Gyal monastery.

  • That's right frozbyte23, Buddhism is from India, while The Tulku system was developed in India. It created the right conditions for many highly evolved beings to manifest their enlightened activity such as HH Dalai Lama and HE Tsem Tulku Rinpcohe.

  • Tibetan civilisation is amazing for having developed the Tulku institution through its contact with Buddhism. It is because of this religious institution that such a great luminary like His Holiness exists. The world would be a darker place without His Holiness.

  • I think H E Tsem Tulku RInpoche's book Compassion Conquers All is a great book to begin. Its light and easy to chew.

  • I would very much like to learn about Buddhism. I watched a few videos and it mostly agrees with the way I feel about things. where would be the best place to start? Any recommended books for the beginner? Thank you x

  • Love6uk, the best is to join a group in your area. I recommend the book about meditation by Sakyong Mipham (Turning the Mind into an Ally), but there are many great others to start with. I also love the comments of the Dalai Lama on Shantideva. The title of that book is Practicing Wisdom: The Perfection of Shantideva's Bodhisattva Way

  • I agree with Dungkar80 about " Compassion Conquers All" - it is about 8 verses of mind transformation which we can utilise immediately in daily lives and also a type of meditation/ practice.

For more info re Tibetan Buddhism, looking for a Guru, why we need a Guru etc, you can have a look at the revised edition of "Gurus for Hire Enlightenment for Sale" that was launched in London in April.

You can get both these books on Amazon or visit kechara(dot)com/eshop

  • I am very excited too, when I first see His Holiness back in 1996/1997 for his teaching. We should all pray for His Holiness long life and continue to guide us. Om Mani Padme Hung. :-)

  • HHDL is truly a great being. Despite all the calamities He has remained calm and collected. (A purveryor of peace and harmony)

  • I think it is because of the kindness of H. E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, I see H H the Dalai Lama in a different light. Otherwise, I would be like the many who criticize this monk for being a political leader. I am looking forward to reading H E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's revised Gurus For Hire book because I am sure he would be talking about criticizing monks and teachers in it.

  • Dalai Lama: We love freedom. Even animals love their freedom. And now naturally that is coming back. So on that level, the situation in Tibet is hopeful. Today, quite a number of [Chinese] people are showing an interest in the preservation of Tibetan culture and spirituality.

  • It is due to the kindness and hardwork of Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin and Geshe Wangyal that His Holiness the Dalai Lama was invited to visit the US the first time .

  • Rinpoche received his first teachings from Khensur Ripoche Lobsang Tharchin .

  • Amazing the Kalmyks when they came over they brought statues and other dharma objects into America.

  • Imagine one can receive teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, I would be so so excited!

  • Tibetan inaccessibility and isolation in the past has allowed a lot of Tibetan practitioners to have achieve high levels of spiritual realizations .

  • I believe His Holiness the Dalai Lama has worked tremendously long and hard to make Tibetan Buddhism well known all over the world.

  • I read somewhere , that the Kalmyks did a big part to help the Americans to connect with Tibetan Buddhism , in fact through the efforts of Geshe Wangyal and Khen Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin, people like Professor Thurman and John Hopkins start to get connected to Tibetan Buddhism.

  • The Kalmyks left Russia due to persecution after WW2 they were thought to have sided the Germans .

Kalmyks is the word for remnant apparently Mongolian tribe were living in Russian territory but in 18th centruy due to oppressions they decided to leave altogether, but somehow 11,000 tent ( nomads ) were left behind hence Kalmyks ( remnants ).

  • In all the videos I have watched Rinpoche , he never forgets the kindness of all his teachers and the reverence he pays to them is moving . It makes me really want to be as like Rinpoche , as a being who constantly remembers the kindnesses of others. In fact for all of us many people have showed kindness to us for us to reach this level of life, whether we know them or not. I believe thinking like this will have us develop the altruistic mind.

  • Tsem Rinpoche does not sound like he is on top of his health , which shows ultimately how kind the lama is to teach even though not feeling too well.

  • Moody , I think youre so right Rinpoche looks like he is not well in this teaching . Despite that he carry on teaching , he must be a bodhisattva.

  • This is the first time I heard Mongolians were badly affected due to the World War 2, Im glad as refugees they managed to resettle in America really well and thrived as a community and they supported the initial Tibetan and Mongolian teachers . This formed the basis for the growth of Buddhism in America.

  • There is a Mongolian saying that if anyone happens to see the golden face of His Holiness the Dalai Lama before one passed away, it will ensure one will not take rebirth in the lower realms. What faith they have with HHDL.

  • vegetarian food stalls, convenient stores, marts etc. are all available in the nearby area. there will always be friends to show you around our area and bring you to a tour to all the 12 depts.

  • very nice of you allforbuddha, i will try to drop by someday as i am based in Australia now and would very much honoured to have a chance to pay Tsem Tulku Rinpoche a visit soon. Please extend my regards to Rinpoche. Rinpoche has benefited many in Malaysia!

  • It is good that all the teachings of Tsem Tulku Rinpoche are all in the youtube. This way I can get knowledge from the profound teachings which I found it very easy to understand and funny at times. Buddhism in a modern way.

  • You lucky Malaysians haha to have a resident Lama living nearby pushing your buttons to help you. This is very good for you guys and I would say this is very fortunate because my Lama travels around very often and I only get to meet my Lama for like twice a year the max.

  • jonsmithy25: i myself being Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's student felt very touched by your comments. yes it is very true that we are fortunate to have a Resident Lama guiding us and to be able to guide us.

  • hi allforbuddha: thank you for your infos, appreciated it very much! i will check back more often cos Rinpoche's teachings are all very interesting! take care!

  • Hello everybody, i am new here and particularly Tsem Tulku Rinpoche the Neon Lama. I think Rinpoche is a very interesting Lama, young, vibrant and by the way i see now is very hardworking. I am very impressed with the work that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche had done in Malaysia!

  • I believe Rinpoche took his refuge with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

  • that one i am not sure but definitely Rinpoche have a very high respect with His Hlisness the Dalai Lama as shown here in this video.

  • well, i can see here that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche has a very high regards on His Holiness. He has very much respect to the rest of Sangha community too. it's amazing that Rinpoche has 14 Great Attained Lamas as Guru.

  • thank you royrobson, i hope you enjoy Rinpoche's teachings here. do check out for more of Rinpoche's teachings in near future. there's a forum in tsemtulku(dot)com where you can join and learn more about Rinpoche too.

  • Yes Tibet is definitely a land of mystery and Rinpoches description of Tibet makes me really want to go there to soak up on spirituality and culture there.

  • i guess if we were to go to Tibet, we have to get ready the oxygen tank first! haha!

It's a nice place to go, i saw one of the videos in youtube of Tsem Tulku Rinpoche showing places in Tibet. go check it out! Its beautiful!

  • Tibet being the place it is now, has come through a lot. together with the harsh condition for plants to grow there. it has always been a struggle there. it is just sad. but Buddhism has flourished there and has not died, thanks to the Dharma Protector Lord Setrap.

  • How I wish more people would be as enthusiastic about HHDL like the Kalmyk Mongolians .

  • Apparently it is the dream of all Mongolians to see the face of HHDL at least once in their lifetime what a nice dream!

  • it is my dream also to have the merits to have an audience with His Holiness too :)

HH's such a Bodhisattva working tirelessly for the Dharma.

  • I think rinpoche was living in the community of the Kalmyks and the Kalmyks were a community of Mongolians who managed to get resettled in America , it could not have been an easy thing living amongst folks who are trying to find themselves in a new land.

  • I wish I met His Holiness the Dalai Lama when I was 11 , then my life would been impacted by the dharma much much earlier.

  • Levelhead85 I believe His Holiness also mentioned that the form of Buddhism that was practiced in Tibet had preserved all the teachings coming from the great pandits and monastic universities from India.

  • I must say due to Tibet being so inaccessible in the past they have managed to preserve the teachings that came from the great Indian pandits.

  • it is because the Sangha have to escaped from Tibet that made Tibetan Buddhism grew to so many places in the world and yes i agree that Tibetan Buddhism is growing real fast!

  • For Rinpoche to be sent to adopted families in America must have been difficult for him.

  • and i believe it is not easy for young Rinpoche to practise Dharma that time, until Rinpoche have to runaway from home and hitch hike all the way to LA from New Jersey to look for Dharma.

  • Yeah I do believe Tibetan Buddhism is one of the fastest growing religions in the world.

  • thanks to the Rinpoches and Lamas who worked tirelessly turning the wheel of Dharma around the world. one perfect example will have to be Tsem Tulku Rinpoche of whom i have come across and found that Rinpoche is a really kind person! A living Buddha!

  • hi royrobson00, kechara is really growing and is the 'hottest' in town. They have 12 departments in the organization which equals to 12 different ways to spread dharma to people!

  • wow, 12 departments and 12 different ways for people to be involved in Dharma! Nice... i have checked thru the websites and Kechara has media publications, soup kitchen, arts dept, a vegetarian restaurant, outlets to promote Dharma and so on... there's just so much to envy here!

  • I am particularly very impressed with the whole organization. They have their own media, charity band, arts departments for statues painting etc., they source their own statues now and future they will have a retreat land! Amazing!

  • hey, This is my first time checking into here. i've just popped into Tsem Tulku Rinpoche at one of the suggestions and i think Tsem Tulku Rinpoche is very cool. i love this video!

  • Rinpoche is Tibetan Mongolian, born in Taiwan and raised in America. Even in America, Rinpoche managed to meet and study under the most elite Tibetan masters of our time. It must have been due to the result of pure Guru devotion. Check out H. E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's masters in tsemtulku(dot)com

  • thank you frozbyte, i will definitely check out Tsem Tulku Rinpoche in the website you have listed here. thanks so much!

  • What a great homage by H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche to his ordination guru. Its a nice video to remind who the Dalai Lama is besides all the controversies surrounding him today. It speaks volumes for what a devoted student Rinpoche is and that means he is also a great master.

  • By the way, the first Dalai Lama Gyalwa Gendun Drub was amongst the main disciples of Lama Tsongkhapa.

  • Wow, Tibetan Buddhism is the fastest growing religion in the United States! The main Lama to make it all happen is the Dalai Lama. His name is a common household name now and what a great religious leader to make Buddhism widespread around the world. Good to know Kechara House headed by H E Tsem Tulku RInpoche is doing a great job spreading Buddhism here in Malaysia and making this Guru the Dalai Lama even more well-known and appreciated.

  • I'm so touched with the way Rinpoche describe his first meeting with HH. So much love and respect... and faith in HH.

  • Rinpoche gives such a heart-warming account of his childhood. I love Rinpoche's stories when he teaches the Dharma with such heart-warming honesty. Just listening to it, you know Rinpoche have been doing Dharma honestly his entire life. I am truly touched. What a great student of the Dalai Lama.

  • This is how Rinpoche has shown us the Guru Devotion, Rinpoche has devoted his whole life to Dharma, simply to benefits people and wants everyone be able to hear the buddha teachings, and Rinpoche is very very devoted to HH, and want to fulfilled HH aspiration and make everywhere peace......

  • Rinpoche did mentioned in the video, he has painted a 4-arms Avalokitesvara as a gift to HH Dalai Lama to make connection with HH to practice dharma and pray for HH Dalai Lama activities flourish....amazing wish from Rinpoche....

  • I wished we could still see this amazing artwork. Rinpoche has been quite the artist in his youth. Wish he still drew but I guess teaching and spreading the Dharma takes up all this time.

  • He is pretty good looking too! This is just got to be one of the coolest Lama that i have ever seen on video! i have seen some of the funny videos in the list and i can assure you all that Rinpoche is really funny!

  • Wow, i was amazed that when Rinpoche said - HH Dalai Lama is a dream of every Mongolian, everyone are dreaming to see HH Golden face that will prevent us taking rebirth in the 3-lower realm, HH was so powerful......I believe Rinpoche want to delivered a message is, by seeing HH Golden face, it will reminds us to practice Dharma, holding our vows, have a compassionate heart and practice kindness, this will lead us to the path of enlightenment and good rebirth......

  • I do agree with you tenzintrinlay, every single video i watch about Rinpoche teaching, i feel like Buddha has entered to Rinpoche body.......This is what really means in the text, A Guru is equal to a Buddha, who manifested as a human forms to give teachings, train us up and transform our life to escape from suffering and being reborn in the lower realms.....

  • I really had the same feeling as Rinpoche meeting HH for the first time, The feeling is like meeting a live Buddha, a LIVE Cherenzig giving us dharma teaching......Dear Rinpoche, whenever i listen to your Dharma teaching, i do feel that a Buddha or HH has entered into your body and pass all the message and practices to us.....Its really blessed be able to stay near you to practice Dharma, because you are just like HH, embodied all the good qualities to teach the Dharma....

  • Tibet and HH Dalai Lama is inseparable, and till today, buddhist is still well known in any part of the world for its religion, and Tibet has created alot of Great Master, one of it is HH Dalai Lama, who embodied all the good qualities and dharma knowledge.......I'm glad that HE Tsem Tulku has the direct connection and relationship with HH, and spread the Dharma teachings......I do hope Rinpoche can visit my country one day to give a dharma teachings just like HH.....

  • I have attend a few HH Dalai Lama teachings, HH Dalai Lama very humble, he smile to everyone whenever he walk with folded hands, and greet everyone with a very gentle voice........Meeting HH just like meeting the Laughing Buddha, same goes to Rinpoche, when i first met HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, i was so amazed by his teachings, is simple and easy to understand and Rinpoche is very compassionate to teach us here......

  • His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a man of peace. In 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. HH Dalai Lama working his whole life to promote peace to every country, his word is always in our heart, just like Cherenzig who emphasize in compassion heart. Same goes to Rinpoche, his teaching will always store in my mind and my heart will never forget ......

  • HH Dalai Lama was the spiritual leader in Tibet, and emanation of Cherenzig - Buddha of Companssion (Chinese- Kuan Yin), and yet HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche embodied all the good quality of HH Dalai Lama and receive direct teaching from HH, and fulfilled HH vision to spread the Dharma around the region, especially in Malaysia.....I'm totally blessed be able to meet Rinpoche and receive his teachings.....

  • HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche was ordained by HH Dalai Lama, i'm fortunate to be with HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche to learn the dharma and getting the blessing from Rinpoche.....May HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche long life, stay healthy to turn the wheel of Dharma, may you dharma vision, projects and activities be fulfilled, and may i be connected with you life after life...........

  • You know what? Although there are so many Buddhist leaders in the world today but only the Dalai Lama is world famous and world influential! How powerful and beneficial to the world. It is great students like H. E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche that represents the Dalai Lama well. We are so fortunate for the these amazing teachings and to hear the Dalai Lama's name and explanation from his great student.

  • I'm touch and amazed watching this video, I can see Rinpoche was so devoted to his Guru, HH Dalai Lama.....Rinpoche you have shows us your Guru Devotion, and I pray may you & HH continue to live long, stay healthy to spread the Dharma, may you and HH Dharma vision be fulfilled and benefit more people.....

  • Its interesting to hear Rinpoche opinion of the Dalai Lama. He talks about in terms of his impact on the world and not on the fact that he is just a political leader or Buddha of Compassion. It is very good to review this in this trying times with the current controversies and tarnishing by many who do not understand his real reasons. We are very lucky to have H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche teaching us the Dharma in an accessible language and also representing his ordination master, the Dalai Lama.

  • Dungkar80: Rinpoche talks about the Dalai Lama as if he was really Cherenzig...something that most people who "love" the Dalai Lama fail to portray...hmm

  • The Debate Tournament is the HITS activities at Kechara House, and the topics is Guru Devotion, come and witness the debate scene at KH1 every Sunday......

  • triplegems118: Kechara House is like the only center that does this kind of activity which is so much more different than anyone else!

  • Yes premala, the debates will be on-going until Wesak Day and do check out the website for more details at kecharahouse (dot) com

  • skyjuiceman: or keep visiting and subscribing to the tsemtulku youtube channel. I have a feeling that any minute now we will be seeing them here..

  • The debating topics is just so nice and interesting huh, makes me wanna go and have a look too. I am looking forward to attend one of the debating session which will be held every Sunday till Wesak Day?

  • premalanaidu76: going for the one that will be held on wesak day would be the best. that is gonna be super interesting!

  • The saying of the Mongolian that by being able to see HH Dalai Lamas golden face just once will prevent the person from getting reborn to the 3 lower realms is just as interesting. This shows that how much faith that Mongolians have in HH Dalai Lama.

  • sotonguy123: It is true because his compassion is just very touching and moving to the point where you just feel completely enveloped in his kindness....

  • It is very fortunate or shall I refer it as strong affinity to HH Dalai Lama that Rinpoche has the chance to meet up with the Dalai Lama at a tender age 11 years old and receive HH blessing.

  • yangming10: so I heard that for many lifetimes Rinpoche has been dedicating his life to His Holiness's long life. The meeting proved so much!!

  • tnznshrb: It dosent take a Buddhist to be inspired by HH the Dalai Lama and also Rinpoche because the message they are spreading is universal messages that everyone can relate to. People like that transcends the boundaries of religion and race...since they touch about the common things in humankind which is the heart...

  • dharmakid108 : I guess that is why Dharma is so relevant to people and so little changes are needed in order to adapt through the changing times

  • Yah, HH Dalai Lama throne is very nice at KH, everytime i see the throne, it reminds me about Guru Devotion that Rinpoche always talk about........Thank You Rinpoche....

  • I wish I could see that throne for real. From Rinpoche's teachings, I know he likes to have beautiful centres and surroundings, as an offering to the Three Jewels, and to attract people to the dharma. So His Holiness's throne must be pretty grand and impressive! His students are really lucky to be able to practice and learn in such nice surroundings. I can't wait to see what the retreat centre is going to look like!

  • jellienellie1: I do feel it is very beautiful and very grand. All the items and offerings have Dharmic meaning behind them. The 6 main motives on the throne represents the 6 perfections and it represents the Buddha's lion throne. It is just amazing to see how deeply ingrained Dharma is with Rinpoche....whatever he does is about the Dharma!

  • assiahproject: wow such knowledge! I had no idea about that! must be because of Tsem Rinpoche's kindess!

  • Yeah thirdeye7811, I saw HH Dalai Lamas throne in the Gompa of Kechara House recently and I would say its very nice! They celebrate Dalai Lamas birthday in the center as well.

  • chickensoupbowl: I remember that they celebrate it with a Dharma talk..which is very nice because the Dalai Lama is all about the Dharma and to spread the Dharma is to help him to have long life directly! So much better than fancy pujas....

  • This shows that Tsem Rinpoche is very devoted to His Guru.

  • I am amazed and awed by Tsem Rinpoche's love and respect towards His Holiness. How he teaches his students about His Holiness is actually showing his students how to treat not only His Holiness but to regard their Guru like so. It's inspiring to see another high lama's point of view about His Holiness. This must be how the monks think of His Holiness. The way Rinpoche talks about His Holiness's qualities gives us more faith in His Holiness.

  • HH Dalai Lama has great humour and at the same time austerity. I saw him at some public talks and instantly, I feel connected with him and develop inner peace

  • amkotechar: he is, after all, the Buddha of compassion and he helps people without agenda and you can really feel that when you are near someone like that. they make you trust them almost completely upon first sight! it is an extremely magical experience,,,

  • When I think of "Shangrila", I think of Tibet and when I think of HH Dalai Lama, I think of the Buddha of Compassion.

  • parvaeres: Shangri-la, or the more politically and widely used term, Shambala represents the ideal Buddhist country, as stated in the Kalachakra Tantra. The kingdom is inhabited by humans which have cut off complete contact with normal people. It may just be a legend or that it really exists but the point is that we can work to that level if we try hard enough. This was covered in one of Rinpoche's talks...I think it was 23...

  • dharmakid108: didint know about that! there were so many funny things going on these days as well as funny rumors that I it gives me the creeps...

  • Oh ya, I remember there was a video on the Kechara House Gompa in Malaysia and I saw a beautiful and ornate Throne for H.H. The Dalai Lama. Not only Tsem Tulku Rinpoche has strong devotion towards H.H. but Rinpoche sets the example for the students and visitors(non tibetans) to always have respect, high regards and devotion towards H.H. The Dalai Lama.

  • Yes of course. Even if you also not Buddhist, His Holiness still so inspiring...who else you know can lose country and still practises so much compassion? Only a Buddha can do that! Hehe

Thats why when Rinpoche or His Holiness say never give up, we must listen to them. They are speaking from experiences coz they suffer a lot already, but they still motivated for the dharma and for other people. When we suffer little bit here and there, we already make excuse and say cannot do this or that!

  • tnznshrb: that is because people like His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and many other lamas work for the sake of others and not because of others. If they worked because of others, they would be easily discouraged once the people that they help change or display unexpected behaviour.

  • dharmakid108: yea in that way I guess that they were exceptional people.that is how they got so much support, because they help others unconditionally

  • It's wonderful that Rinpoche is showing so much solidarity with the Dalai Lama, at a time when so much accusations and negative statements have been thrown at His Holiness. Buddhism will benefit and flourish if all of us stop sectarianism and politicking around, and His Holiness is one of the underpinning factors behind this much needed unity.

  • NattouP, the debate is on this coming Sunday! It is at 2pm in KH1. For more info., pls check the for more info at KecharaHouse(dot)com

This Sunday's topic is Guru Devotion. Hope you would not miss it.

  • Oooh so exciting! Too bad I cannot go :( I hope Rinpoche's students will post the video on Monday hehe maybe tsemtulkuDOTcom can do a follow-up debate on the forum. It will be quite good for people who cannot join the debate itself.

  • tnznshrb : nah, we'll probably catch the video here on youtube sooner or later...the summary of the debate is already up on the kecharahouse[dot]com website..do have a look!

  • Ninje08: correction: every sunday it will be about Guru Devotion since the entire debate will be based on the book Gurus for Hire, Enlightenment for sale which IS about Guru Devotion! To hear a master speak about Guru Devotion is not unusual but for the students to share it from their point of view of a student is very rare and interesting!

  • dharmakid108, u r right this year debate is based the book Gurus for Hire, Enlightenment for Sale and so it's on GURU DEVOTION topics.

However, each round has different sub-topics; 1st round last Sunday were "Guru Devotion: What submission really means?" and "Working/ serving the Dharma center". I was there, very interesting debates. Were you there? If not, you should come tomorrow.

  • Ninje08: I wasnt there but I am very sure that I will watch the whole thing here on youtube soon. It's gonna be great to see it here!

  • dharmakid108: yea and i heard that the finals of that debate will be done during this wesak. May the best team win! and may we see the footage here on youtube!

  • I really can feel the strong Guru Devotion from this video. Rinpoche has work to hard and devoted his whole life to Dharma, just because he want to benefits all sentient beings, and also help all his Guru including HH Dalai Lama to achieve their vision.........My highly respect to Rinpoche, may you live long and may all your vision be fulfilled.....

  • Devotion to ones guru is such a must in Gelugpa tradition, and H.E. shows us how true this is, have you seen Rinpoches other video about remembering his root guru, while this video is very touching to see, when you see Rinpoche remember his root guru, you can't help but feel the immense devotion he has to the teacher that taught the teachings that made him who he is today. I wish i had a guru.. Oh yeah that book i have a copy i got from the office of KMP but im sure u can get your store to order

  • bubbleofbliss, can you tell which video is that, the one Rinpoche remembering his root guru? I'm sure it's a very touching one. Devotion to ones guru is a MUST in Gelugpa tradition... Well... maybe i would get that book to read about it... the Guru For Hire, Enlightenment For Sale book; very interesting title.

  • NattouP: I think it is a part of the many clips from his 3 day marathon teachings about Gurus For Sale, Enlightenment for Hire....watching the clips from here at youtube isnt that interesting or fun when compared to the whole footage that you can watch from the whole set of 8 DVDs in the boxed set. I heard you can download it from neonlama[dot]com or buy the physical DVDs from kechara[dot]com.

  • dharmakid108: nice!! I've read the book and it is one of the most helpful books for modern Buddhist practitioners of today on how to really practice..

  • I was very touched when I watched this video. It shows how much DEVOTION Tsem Tulku Rinpoche has for guru H.H The Dalai Lama. And if any one of you have read Guru For Hire, Enlightenment for Sale book by Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, the amount of Guru Devotion Tsem Tulku Rinpoche has for all his gurus is totally out of this world. I read from Kechara House website that the revised copy is out already, can anyone tell me where I can buy this?????

  • Indra00123: you can buy them from Kechara[dot]com, the official online store for the organization. Or, you could fly to london during the book launching and buy it then. Go there and support KMP! When you support KMP, you support Kechara and Rinpoche!!

  • This dharma-talk is one of the most interesting for me. I heard things that I already know but in a perfect way. I also learned new facts. Very good!

  • thedharmaprince : if you listen to it more you will learn more things because there is always something new in Rinpoche's talks...no matter how you want to see it :P

  • H.E Tsem Rinpoche does respect His Holiness alot! I'm just trying to notice his voice tone on this video especially when Rinpoche speaks about His Holiness.

Rinpoche keep mentioning how much faith Mongolian have faith in His Holiness, I think out of all Mongolian, Rinpoche has the most faith in him.

Speak about Painting the 4 Arm Avalokiteswara and also the Prayer that Rinpoche has composed, this do mean alot for a 11 year old.

  • I think is one thing to have faith, but also another thing to practise. A lot of people say they have faith but they don't really do their practise. When got people watching them, they say they have faith and act holy, sit very straight, chant very fast, can see this and that deities lah...and then when no one watching, they scratch their backside, pick their nose, think about lunch or dinner, or whatever.

Difference between us and Rinpoche is he actually put his faith into practise!

  • I think beside Faith, it is also about Guru Devotion.

I agree with you tnznshrb, That is how most people practice nowadays, it is just words from the mouth but not sincere practice from the heard.

Tsem Rinpoche is such an inspiration to us, we must practice just like him, not just with faith, but with Total Submission and Devotion

  • shoujian: Ah, but the word submission can be tricky. Sometimes Rinpoche will make you do something that you really dislike..then what happens? Sometimes it may also be something impossible..and so what happens if you lack the capability to carry through?

  • tnznshrb: Rinpoche's faith is actually genuine and it is not for others to see or for reinforcing the ego or false self confidence. it comes through complete confidence in your Guru that he will not lead you astray even if it appears to be so....

  • shoujian: yea I agree...once again it proves that Rinpoche is really a reincarnate lama because he knows all these from the start! how many people actually know how to do all these things as a kid? Definitely because he knows what he is doing even at that age and that is only possible if he remembers....

  • Thank u ShinLoves Kechara for ur info. Well that's good as I watch last year debate in KH Annual Manjugosha Debate Tournament 2008 videos... I thought they are quite mind challenging. Mmm... I would like to see it live this year if i can match the time. Will check updates at Kechara House website; it is KecharaHouse(dot)com?

  • Yes, just an announcement for all. The annual Manjugosha Debate is officially on EVERY SUNDAY from April 5th till May 9th (Wesak Day, the FINALS) at Kechara House 1. Please check Kechara House website for updates and you bet, we will post up the videos!

We welcome all to visit us!

  • Hi everyone,

Like what tsemiscool said, Tsem Rinpoche spoke about the 8 verses and his experience with the teachings in this video:

What Tsem Rinpoche thinks of the Dalai Lama??!! (1 of 3)

starting from time 0:45. Rinpoche said that how auspicious it was for him to receive the teachings (8 verses) of compassion from Avalokiteshvara himself!

  • From this video, I'm totally convinced that Rinpoche has strong karmic connection with His Holiness the Dalai Lama... even as a young child of 11, he already wrote his prayer not to be separated from His Holiness for this life & in all his future lives... Wow... what an inspiring true exhibit of Rinpoche's devotion to his own guru... amazing...

  • I heard from one of the teachings that Tsem Tulku Rinpoche received the 8 verses of mind/thought transformation when he was younger from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I think this is way before Tsem Tulku Rinpoche received his ordination vows from His Holiness.

And I remembered that in the video, Tsem Rinpoche said the 8 verses teachings blew him away! Anyone read Compassion Conquers All already? Book Review please?

  • Yes. I've read Compassion Conquers All and each verse of the 8 verses was explained in a simple to understand manner with daily life examples. In fact this book was the root text for the 2008 Annual Manjogosha Debate.

You can check out the videos on youtube by searching for KH Annual Manjugosha Debate Tournament 2008. There are 3videos being posted on the tsemtulku account.

  • Yup and the next annual Manjugosha debate is going to be held soon so we can all look forward to more videos! ;)

  • It's incredible. Very clear and logical, and exactly in Rinpoche's style. I know some people who have read it so many times, they can quote from it! It's a book you can read it again and again, and each time you will find a different, but equally right, interpretation...Rinpoche's teachings resonate so deeply and you will find after reading it, it's easier to put the 8 Verses into practice because like MoiraKelly1 said, Rinpoche gives you clear explanations with real life examples.

  • Do you think Kechara Publications will do a book with His Holiness the Dalai Lama since His Holiness is Tsem Tulku's guru?

This is my first book by Tsem Tulku. I plan to read Compassion Conquers All next. I hope it's not too difficult to read. This book, Gurus for Hire, I've flipped through the content pages and found that the topics/subjects will answer many of the questions that I have for a long time. Now I just need to find time to read it !

  • Wow, there's quite a discussion going on here about Gurus for Hire book eh?

Anyway, I don't think we will come up with any book with His Holiness at this point of time, because we have MANY teachings from His Eminence Tsem Tulku Rinpoche that we haven't got them out yet. We need more help with transcribing!

And to answer lordofthehans, yes, we will have the revised edition available at the fair,

Visit us at the booth P320 from 20th to 22nd April at the London Book Fair.

  • Yes, I think EVERY Tibetan Buddhist Centre should have that book! Why? Because it talks about topics that includes how one can really serve the Dharma Centre, Gurus and everything relating to it (the doubt, switching of Gurus, etc) you can think of about a Lama and centre.

I finished reading the book and I think that this really should be an SOP for Dharma centre. What do you all think?

  • I couldn't agree with you more. In fact, the folks at Kechara Media & Publications told me that they are going to launch the revised version of the book at the London Book Fair this year.

Something to look forward to... although that might mean I will cherish my current copy of Gurus for Hire less once I get the new book, hehe.

  • I just bought my book 3 months ago and now I have to buy a new version? :(

I guess it's good news that there's a new version. I shall ask a London friend pop by the book fair to check them out.

  • I just bought mine from Amazon and I haven't started reading them yet, yikes.

Hey Moira how do you know that they are going to launch the revised version of Gurus for Hire?

  • Well, that's because clever me volunteered to transcribe Rinpoche's teachings from Kechara Media & Publications. So, I get news from the "insiders" hehe. They are really quite a fun bunch of people, Kechara, and they are a young and progressive group.

Also, I subscribe to their e-newsletter, so I get new news every week.

  • Good on you MoiraKelly1, for volunteering! More people should do so - KMP are always looking for volunteers!

In fact the Kechara organisation are always looking for volunteers, and will give you a warm welcome. If anyone's interested, they should check out kecharahouseDOTcom. There's a lot of info there about their activities, and there's something for everyone. Maybe you like art/painting? Speak to Kechara Saraswati Arts! Want to help feed the homeless in KL? Speak to Kechara Soup Kitchen! :)

  • jeanai1986: but what you missed out is that volunteering for the organization is not really for the organization but in reality for the volunteer's benefit and betterment. It can be very easy to forget this simple fact but in order for the work to be really effective that should always be in the volunteer's mind.

  • Of course ;) then you can donate your old copy to someone who will benefit from it! :) you should buy more copies, and pass them round to your friends hahaha by encouraging people to buy from KH (or any dharma group), you're creating causes for the dharma to grow because it increases the need for dharma. If you buy from KMP, ALL of the money from your purchase will be put back into KMP (who are not-for-profit) to help bring out more books, DVDs, etc. so dharma can spread further!

  • Yes, Rinpoche doesn't affiliate himself with any political cause. I've read his book Gurus for Hire Enlightenment for Sale, and Rinpoche spoke about how we shouldn't get too involved in the politics but focus on Dharma PRACTICE. But that book does cover quite a lot regarding CENTRE POLITICS and how to deal with them though. A very good book for all who belongs to a Dharma centre!

  • I think it's easy to get caught up in the "glamour" of Lamas with big names, especially with HH the Dalai Lama. I hear many of my friends boasting about going to his teachings without really understanding what it's about or what HH represents - all the wonderful qualities of Dharma. I love this teaching because Rinpoche shows us why HH is so holy - the qualities he embodies and what he teaches. That's what we should really be talking about when we "boast" about our Gurus.

  • it's actually quite easy to forget about your practice and run after the politically correct lineage and guru and whatever and turn our spiritual life into a soap opera...I dont believe anyone needs that kind of thing..spiritual practice should not be confused with ordinary, tired and mundane drama...it should just focus on spirituality and benefiting others..

  • Not just forget, but become confused. If we can become confused by different everyday information, how much worse would it be to be confused in dharma!
