Hey, check out my video. If you don't believe in secession, then you believe in slavery, for you are for enslaving people to a government that they want no part of:
Lincoln clearly thought the black race inferior....it's amusing how the liberal media portrays him and others like Margaret Sanger.Lincoln favored colonization of the negroes and probably would've sent them to San Domingo or somewhere like that if you read his writings, etc.
right hear and now i should just like to state to all the commentators below mine, be your statements right or wrong... read the video, listen and think, let go of the rest for now
I have no purpose, directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery. --- March 14, 1861
What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races. --- 7-17-1858, fr. a speech delivered in Springfield, Ill.
I am not in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, or of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people. --- September 15, 1858
Ooligan Press, the imprint for the masters in publishing program at Portland State University just released the third in a trilogy of novels about a time-traveling Abraham Lincoln. The latest, Lincoln's Daughter, continues the story by introducing the child he conceived in 1955.
He promoted central banking, gave America it's first income tax, betrayed the constitution by not letting the southern states succeed from the Union, launched the War of Northern Aggression, wrote in a letter to Horace Greeley, "if I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it", and denied Christianity.(Don't believe me, look it up.) Yet, he still is honored as an American hero who freed the slaves and as a man of God.
Abraham Linclon was a servant of God. He endured much on this earth, heartaches and suffering, yet his wisdom was beyond him, his understanding of our plight as humans, and our responsiblity for this earth and peace for all of mankind.
This is a fine piece of propaganda. It's sure to stir the hearts of those who do not study the past and try to understand why we are where we are today.
I'm calling the video propaganda. Using a great piece of American history to stir a "patriotic" fervor today without presenting the context and reasons for the speech is not history. Citing the speech out of context is antiquarianism, coupling it with the right video and a new context turns it into propaganda. Don't think that because it's a great piece of American history it can't be used to evoke feelings, but are those feelings right without an understanding of where the speech came from?
Siredldren, I actually enjoy this vd not for the patriotic fervor but for his values that were spoken...he spoke deeply from his heart..he shoke on his knees before this speech, pleading for God's direction.
That's good. I don't mean for this speech or for the sentiment to be misunderstood. As briantdt stated, it is one of the greatest speeches in American history. Even though I am not a fan of Lincoln, his presidency, and a number of things he did as president, are legacies to our national heritage that should not be forgotten. I think it is important to find the positive aspect of this speech, but please do not forget the context in which it was prepared and delivered, for it is important.
I don't think pepole realize how close Abe Linclon's heart was to God. He struggled through many demons(depression, his children dying in childhood, nervous breakdown, political wickenness, comflict with his 'learned' feelings, and so on). He rose out all of that to take bold steps in the history of our nation..leading us to hold onto our freedoms. May God Bless our next leader with a respector of these truths.
Abraham Lincoln was arguably an atheist and he certainly despised the Christian God (as did Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine). "The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." - Abraham Lincoln
