  • I'm 21 in 16 days.

    Pray for me please.

  • Shrek did a better job telling the same story.

  • It´s Saruman who is speaking!

  • Comment removed

  • ok so he has been a beast for ten years. the rose would die on his 21th birthday so that means he was 11 when he was turned into a beast? OMG thats cruel..!!

  • beautiful beautiful

  • HEY hah this is uploaded on my birthday yay! :D

but i did not like this version as much as the one in the movie, he drads out on some words it sounds strange compared to the original and i get stressed too :S

  • It's funny how people justify him acting like this just for being a teenager. How stereotypical. Do you know any teenagers that act like this? I certainly don't and I'm in high school.

  • @letsride84 How many teens do you know that are princes living in far away lands? That said I live in England and I dont think our princes act like brats...but then, maybe they do behind closed doors.

  • @nick4uuk Well, all I'm saying is that everybody here is saying that teenagers are all allowed to be stuck up twats and what the enchantress did was wrong. Why is it okay for teenagers to act like that? If I acted like that I would get back handed.

  • Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but I liked the older prologue better. The narrator from that one had a more... How do I put it... Compelling? His voice really drew me in to the story. This new narrator with his awkward silences just doesn't have the same effect.

  • It should've been called Ugly and the Beast, now there's no way to be sure the Beast truly loved Beauty or if he's just horny as hell

  • @grimgroove There kinda is. Try watching the movie. Observe how he doesn't really care about the looks of his trespassers, he sends Belle to the dungeon and avoids her same as he did her father. We don't see either of them warm up to each other until they've spent a montage's worth of time together, y'know, after that whole "He got scratched up saving her and she patched him up" deal.

  • The original prologue is better.

  • i kinda feel bad for the guy, i mmean he didnt know she was gonna turn him into the beast!!!! (just kidding lol)

  • this music always makes me really sad idk y

  • And now: Carnival of the animals - The Aquarium ;)

  • Listen ya'll...its a lession to the selfish, wicked (as he was ''unkind'')and spoiled fucks having everthing they ever wanted!!...if i had the same power id curse ALL spoiled pricks into horrible things!...when there is badness in your heart then you need to change your fucking attitude by going though a life lession....like the beast!..

  • dude seriously? who offers a freaking rose to a prince?! stupid enchantress...

  • @captpoodle Beast ate it, lol :O :D

  • @LovingByProxy Maybe there is a little, a very little love to open the door himself in his heart :P

  • The only thing I don't understand: Why would the prince open the door himself? Didn't he have like hundreds of servants? xP

  • i love the music its sooo pretty :D

  • the enchantress was a b*tch. the prince was a freaking teenager, of course he was spoiled being a PRINCE. she coulda let him wait til he was an adult to see his character. ugh

  • So the bloke was depressed in his castle, which explains why he is selfish and boorish, and she turns him into a beast, all because she wants to stay somewhere and pay a single flower as rent.

    Some people...

  • Well done Enchantress, now if you will please follow me to Gaston's house...

  • I think this is my favourite Disney animation prologue. <3 I wonder what the text in the window painting at 0:50 says...

  • The Prince sounds like a young Henry VIII. I hope Belle's neck wasn't too long!

  • @Messylin he should have gotten that while he lived but for all he did to his wives and people alike. Henry VIII yep equals this prince before belle of course

  • The one part that always confused me is when the narrator states: "in a far away land…."

??? I thought Beauty and the Beast takes place in France?

France isn't a far away land.

  • Great quality! I loved so much showing this movie 2 my baby niece, it's my fav disney movie

  • If you think about it... the enchantress was kind of a big bitch; why did she transform everyone in the goddamn castle? Mrs. Potts most certainly didn't deserve that

    Maybe Cogsworth

  • @nghtmaresindrome maybe thy all had their own faults and being transformed was to teach them their own lesson. likes cogsworth: he seemed uptight and obsessed with doing things on time so he was turned into a clock.

No clue wht the other lessons would be for everyone else. Maybe misses pots wasnt such a nice woman until she had been turned to a teapot.

  • needless to say, the beast learns his lesson by nailing the most beautiful girl in town.

  • This isn't correct, the Beast and rose are suppose to move.

  • 21st brithday!!!!

Let me get this striaght.......he was a TEENAGER!? When she placed the curse.

I know the average life span was shorter in those days but come on. If the Prince was in his late 20's early 30's fair enough, but when he's a child.....WOW!!!!

    Cold blooded witch.

  • @brightlights456X Actually, according to Lumiere in 'Be Our Guest' they've been like that for 10 years which would mean he was only 11 when she put the curse on him. Harsh!!!

  • @EscapeandBreakfree

11!? F**K ME!!! No mercy in the old 'n' days

  • @brightlights456X You said it! Not to mention she turned a bunch of little kids into teacups...can you imagine if they were stuck like that???

  • I remember getting chills up and down my spine whenever I watched this at the ripe old age of two. :)

  • Can I just say that I really love David Ogden Stiers' voice in this? Can I just say that? Real quick?

  • The opening music gives me chills.

  • i love the soundtrack!

  • the music is so dramatic... dan dan dan......!

  • Best prologue EVER!!!!! The other openings don't even strike a match next to this one!!!

  • Best prologue EVER.

Especially in the musical. It sounds so dark and enchanting.

  • no matter what, this will always touch my heart.

  • Bravo.

  • I.Want.This.Theme song. In. A. Music. Box. NOW! XD

  • @Swordstress Saint saens - Aquarium ;)

  • 29 people are beasts

  • I love the prologue's music!

  • The only part I never understood was why did the enchantress have to punish everyone in the castle? I mean was it really fair to turn children into teacups and have them stay like that forever just because the Prince was a spoiled brat??? I'd say someone overreacted...she should have her wand taken away.

  • @Hitsugayaluuver report her to Jorgen Von Stangle

  • @Hitsugayaluuver lol obviously she was in slytherin

  • @Hitsugayaluuver But if you think about it, the mistakes of a Ruler, whether King or politician, affect the whole kingdom/nation. I've interpreted the enchantress'es action as reflecting the way reality works.

  • @Hitsugayaluuver Because The Enchantress is a Fae, they don't follow the same morals we do.

  • @Hitsugayaluuver Because it would make the prince see how his actions have affected everyone. His jerkyness affects more than just him.

  • @Hitsugayaluuver We never really saw or heard from any parents, and if you think about it, the Prince was eleven when he was turned into a beast (The original prologue stated the last petal would fall on his twenty-first birthday, and a line in Lumiere's song states the spell was cast ten years ago.). My guess would be the servants and their families shared the curse for putting up with the prince rather than try to teach him better.

  • @Hitsugayaluuver Well it was that time of the month. Her Aunt Flo was visiting and they didn't make Midol and Xanax back then. To top it all off she was quitting smoking and had just got out of Rehab and her A.A. sponsor was out of town. All she wanted was a "pad" to crash at and the bloody prince said F-off, you ugly, old skank, so she got pissed. She could have done much worse. The first lesson he learned was not to aggravate women, because they are powerful.

  • @Hitsugayaluuver you don't get it, she wanted the prince to feel guilty that he did this to all his people in the castle

  • @Hitsugayaluuver Yeah but those are the people who raised, they didnt do an exactly good job. the children maybe but who would they go to?

  • I love this. It's so beautifully drawn. When I was little I could literally quote this word for word...-gets nostalgic-

  • Prologue: But the old womans ugliness melted away to reveal...A BEAUTIFUL ENCHANTRESS!

Me: But dude, you said real beauty was inside.

    Prologue: It is!

Me: So despite having good intentions, the old woman was still ugly?

Prologue: WILL YOU LET ME TELL THE STORY ALREADY?!?

  • @Dancingwithotters I know it may seem like the mesage is a bit mixed, but I candof take it as when you are kind and have good intentions, it will easily be noticed by other people. It does also show beauty does not always mean goodness however, as Gaston was beautiful but also evil but like i said i think the beauty is a symbol of the good characters outwardly dispalying their kindness if that makes sense

  • @Dancingwithotters you idiot, the beautiful enchantress has a good heart, she herself knows inner beauty matters more, and she's saying that while being beautiful herself

a beautiful person saying inner beauty matters more is the point

  • @RKOyou

Stop trying to start a Disney riot son. We dont serve your kind in here.

  • @Dancingwithotters I think turning into a stunningly beautiful woman before she casts the spell is kind of just her way of adding insult to injury.

  • god just the prologue brought back SOO many memories.

  • I hated that face from the old lady.. it gave me nightmares as a kid!

  • This isn't the original song though, but its good :)

  • Comment removed

  • Is this the original, cause i don't remember it being like pictures all the way through.

  • The original music from the film sounds much nicer

  • I loved that movie. I lent it a little girl. It moved away and I have never seen her again. She is having that movie now.

  • I always felt that the prologue and art in the prologue was somewhat disconnected from the rest of the movie..idk...still love the movie though!

  • LOL Man, is everyone going to reply back to almost every single text comment that I post or that I have posted at any YouTube video or what? It seems like most of the time whenever I have a comment posted anywhere, somebody has to reply back to me all the time no matter what my comment is about sometimes. No one really has to reply back to every single text comment that I post at any video though and I'm just saying too. That's all. Anyway, great video again and Beauty and the Beast is the best.

  • Nice video and great job on it too. I still have this movie on VHS and it's such a great Disney classic. I first acquired this movie on VHS eight years ago back in 2002 when it was released in the Platinum Edition version on DVD and VHS and it's still great to watch even today especially since this was just released last month on Blu-ray disc and DVD. This film was even released back in the same year I was born too. I was born in 1991 and this movie came out shortly after I was born too. :)

  • @KenMeister1357 I bought the diamond edition dvd and blu ray but can only watchg disc one! oh well!

  • @APRIL62318 I see then. That seems too bad though. Hopefully maybe you can be able to purchase another copy of this film or something though on either Blu-ray disc or DVD. This was only released on Blu-ray and DVD just a month ago so most stores are still selling it as of right now and Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is still such a great Disney film too. It's so awesome and it's simply the best. I still have this movie too, but I have it on VHS which came out back in 2002 for both DVD and VHS.

  • @APRIL62318 nah the disc that is not blu ray is the movie so that is all i need!

  • People always used to think I was weird because even when I was a little kid the prologue was my favorite part.

  • I'm 14, and up till now, the prologue scares me. O__O

  • This is different from my dvd's version... this is really cool too though.

  • the Music they use in this gives me the spooks.

  • @caller347 The music is actually the Aquarium from Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals. I absolutely love it...

  • Watch on youtube.com: "Something There - Bygraceanne" .....let me know what you think. =)

  • The Music is soo great!!! I love it!

  • I Love this film even now as a teen

  • Disney makes some amazing music, I'll tell ya that. I need to get this on DVD. This and Anastasia (Yes, I know it's not Disney, but it has that sort of Disney-esque flavor).

  • i wish music like that played background in reality during a mysterious or even love curious moment. amazing

  • The music reminds me of "The Aquarium" from the Carnival of the Animals.

  • This is my favorite part of the whole movie I think. >< The music is soo beautiful =)

  • @LaPrincessHasArrived This and the transformation at the end :)

  • @ElenaGerr Agreed =)

  • How can I get the song that is playing? It is so beautiful and magical.

  • i love this music. the end. nothing else comes close

  • if beast is the prince then wheres the king???

  • @captpoodle Probably cut him off the same way Naveen's parents did.

  • @captpoodle He's locked in the basement

  • I have no idea why I never realized before now that David Ogden Stiers was the narrator for this.

  • @AtarahDerek he was also cogsworth

  • this prologue use to scare the crap outta me lol

  • @iamdaillest24 me to butt not as much as gaston's chest hair !

  • I understand why the enchantress enchanted the people who lived in the castle. After all, someone had to give the prince anything he asked for and therefore aid in his becoming a spoiled adult. But why did she change the dog into a household object too? I think that was a little unfair. It's not like the dog had any conscious part in making the prince spoiled.

  • @jellydonut14 I assume to make sure he had no familiar companion ultimately making him feel alone. It wouldn't set the plot up correctly for Belle AND THE DOG to be the only 'familiar' 'correct' 'normal' companions. it must of been set up that way for only Belle to be 'normal' that way she can stand out as someone to remind him of being good and normal.. Shoot the teapot's son didn't contribute either. I think ultimately it was for us to get the sense of 'aloneness' from the castle.

  • Awesome beginning.

  • This movie is pure classic! It never gets old..

  • no offense to David Ogden Stiers , but I still love the original the best, Nothing beats the classics.

  • @ChasehaWing

David Ogden Stiers did the narration for the animated Disney film as well. He was also the voice actor of Cogsworth.

  • @APRIL62318

Nope, the pauses are longer, and he accents some words differently. The music is also more dramatic, the words are the same, but the way he says it is differently.

  • she warned him not to be deceived by appearances for beauty is found within

  • Who was the evil one? The "Beast" or the enchantress who unfairly enchanted so many innocent within the castle?

  • Those 'innocent' people, were the ones who spoiled him too much, and transformed him into what he was then. However, those people also love their master, and he NEEDED the company. If she left him truly alone to himself, he would have broken, which is not what she wanted. But ya, it was mean, but it needed to be done. we can't have eye witnesses leaving the castle or...well... u remember the mob.

  • @ChasehaWing they spoiled him cause they were afraid of him and they also needed the job

  • Ahh this is the Broadway prologue. Oh well, i love both :)

  • The quality is amazing but i wish it were the original voice lol

  • to be fair, disney animation studios are starting to see sense to making disney classics such as the princess and the frog. but i agree, hsm and hannah montanna should never of exsisted.

  • Disney needs to stop with all this Pixar shit (only 3 of their Pixar movies were good) & get back to doing what they did best.

  • Damn! I miss old Disney Animation! The disney princess films were all captivating to watch no matter what age you were. They should get rid of all that high school musical and Hannah Montana rubbish and go back to the classics. After all those are the films were are going to remember as we get older!

  • @Lauranna I think you should replace Camp Shit/Rock with Highschool Musical.

  • @Frisby2007 thank you! I forgot about that one. May God have mercy on your soul for that one Disney!

  • @Lauranna DIsney? No Disney has nothing to do with this. Only Disney Channel does.

  • @Frisby2007 I suppose thats true! If Walt Disney was still alive Hannah Montana and Camp Rock would'nt exist! Damn it! Some people should be immortal!

  • who's the narrator? Christopher Lee?? Sounds a bit like him?

  • KOCHAM początek tego filmu i w ogóle film tez kocham aaaach! :)

  • This is different from the movies! It says 'Many years' not 'until his 21st' year or whatever and it also say 'their love' not 'her love'. Odd...

Oh wait. It's the Broadway opening XD

  • It is kinda mysterious indeed....But lisen to the west wings version of this music....that one is scary.

  • Thinking about it, it's pretty nice of Mrs Potts, Lumiere, Chip etc to stick by the Prince, considering how it's all his fault they're animated inanimate objects in the first place!

  • The best opening of any Disney movie, period. I'll NEVER forget the stained glass windows and the transformation!

  • I need this video so much and i dont know how to download it. Please help me!!

  • The narrator's voice is different on my DVD copy.

  • I like how the narrator reads the story

  • Let's be honest, if she turned up at my doorstep, I'd be repulsed by her haggered appearance and turn her away. She could have been a witch for all I know. And anyway why is the Enchantress "testing" the Price anyway and punishing him if he fails? Who put her in charge of morality? If the Prince wishes to be a jerk in life, that's up to him!

  • @ShaiyaStudios but this a movie to teach kids to not judge on appearances

your fucked up brain has messed the whole point

  • @RKOyou Ah, I see humour is lost on you my thick, dipshit friend.

  • 1:04 Ooooh. The stalling really add more haunting tension to this already haunting scene.

  • so coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • God i love beauty and the beast so much <3

  • I would have loved to see the Broadway version of this, unfortunately now it has closed production. How did this intro look in the play?

  • @CrimsonNineTail

Really freakin cool. Beauty and the Beast was the best Broadway play I have every seen

  • @CrimsonNineTail it was amazing!!! i absoulutley LOVED it, it was one of the best shows i have ever seen! <3

  • What the fuck is this? This is not the original version

  • @Nefus2 Yees it is..

  • this is my fav cartoon ever, and the begining never scared me

  • just brilliant! love the music- brings so much memories back from when I was little...

  • It's so beautiful and dark.I love it!

  • Wonderful...

This narration is Much better than the other versions...

This one is more dark... Fantastic!!!

  • the prologue always scared me when i was a kid

  • LOOOL...u said it for me ;)

  • me too. teh old woman's picture scared me most.

  • @malenkamolly really?i loved it when i was 5 years old, especially the music when the forrest is shown in the beginning :)

  • @malenkamolly Same here!! Now that I look at it again, I really don't understand why it did.

  • @malenkamolly that is so true..disney movies had their wya of doing that to me..always there was a part that was frightening..but i strangely liked it

  • this song haunted me in my childhood..so creepy.

this movie was way too dark for kids my age (5)..but i really love it now

  • really? I loved it as a child. I suppose I'm really odd like that. xD

  • Does any one know what this arrangement is? The orchestration is different from what appears in the film...

  • nevermind. got it.

  • the broadway version, its in the description.

  • I truly believe the background music during this part is Alan Meken's best work. Stunning. Beautiful. Mysterious.

  • I have to agree with Sevotharte87!!!!

  • I love the Prologue music...

  • I've loved this movie from the start, and it has grown into an obsession.Watch this movie here BigOnlineMovies . c o m

  • dude!

lesson learned..wont ever turn down old beggar ladies at my door!

    then I guess Im fucked

  • LOOOOL

  • i'd rather trun into a beast then listen to jehovas witness for 10mins..

  • wrd

  • LMAO me too.

Seriously I like the intro to this movie. I watched this movie when I was young and I don´t want to watch the whole movie now when I´m like adult but I like the beginning.
