They always forget the part about Robert Toombs being a racist alcoholic and fighting FOR slavery and the use of slavery to build the state of Georgia.. Like Adolf Hitler, he will roll in history as a great speaker and racist builder of men! Postwar, He ran like a scalded dog to Europe, Cuba and then Canada after the war to keep from being arrested as a war criminal. he later crawled back into his broken,burned and poor state in his later life as a local lawyer drunkard and past slave owner!

Ashley was a great Ranger at Toombs House. He won the Program of the Year for Toombs with the Christmas Carol. He will be missed but I know he is enjoying his service at Roosevelt's Little White House.

I visited this historic site with a 2 year old and man do I feel your pain! I didn't have the luxury of the backpack deal.
