Actually, my friend owns a Jackson (forget what model), and I've played it a couple times when I've gone over to his house. You're right, it's actually a really good guitar, nice sound, good playability, I just don't own one (aren't they a little expensive, though?). Wish I did, now that you mention it. Jacksons are pretty good, but my Dean Razorback V is still my favorite guitar. To each his own, dude.

Japanese jacksons aren't too hard on the purse, But a USA will cost you around 2k. Custom shop orders are usually 3-4k. I own a DK2M as well (Japan, 800$) and it's killer. Im a Jackson fanatic ever since I bought my first RR :) I've played deans, not a big fan of the necks, Gibsons are gibsons, fenders are fenders . Dont really like Ibanez, the necks are great but I dont like alot of the options on the models and I think some are overpriced. ESP is a close contender, But the quality control

Well, in reality, all guitars are overpriced. A few months back I was thinking of buying a Les Paul, but I saw that it was $6k just right off the shelf. I know a luthier who could make me a completely-custom, handmade guitar for that much (which I won't, because I already have three guitars).

While yeah, price is a large factor, I played I'd guess 20 guitars in the store before I bought my Dean, which just felt right, which is really all that matters.

@hbskull321 I don't know, dude, at least for me the sound's really weird. Maybe it was my amp or something, but even with new DiMarzo pickups and a humbucker it still didn't sound right. Whatever dude, I mean, if you like it, that's cool, but at least for me I didn't think too highly of it.

PS- Heavier gauge strings, man. I pick really hard, too, and I just buy the thickest they got. However, the Floyd Rose is kinda a bitch to undo.
