@wildthang271 He's a he. And despite looking cute, he's the terror of his mom, the herd he's in and the stable. The adult horses have problems telling him off, cos he's too snappy, but also too fast and too flexible. Still, he's the joker of the herd and I love playing with him (and he with me :)
Thank you very much @hunterjumper1212 & @CaseyHorses - little Muratah never liked to be forced into a way humans wanted. He chooses his own way and we humans had to respect that. We can only cooperate in the way he would like to. He is now a growing up boy (3Y) and shows all signs he wants to be the leader of the herd. I'ld be very happy if he would come along my path to be with him, leaving him in all he is, but be cooperative and helpful. So far I've got all the trust in him and he in me :)
I really really respect you as an owner. I love the fact that you let this cute little guy come out of the trailer instead of make him. He's adorable!!!!!
I've all trust that this lil' one stays with us, although he's rather adventurous. He loves people though. Also, hearing from the blacksmith that he is "the easiest colt ever" twice in a row convinces me he's doing well among human :)
I didn't see a mom, so I was concerned. If there was a mom, then that makes sense.
I used to board my horse at a barn where they bred Morgan foals, and there was this one crazy one named Sherman that just took off down the road. We had to go insane trying to catch him before he got hit, but I'm sure you're foal isn't like that. You wouldn't allow him of a lead if he was, I'm sure.
@lastampa2006 and what if a plastic bag, a dog, or something else the colt thought might hurt/eat him came blowing through the area? the colt could have acted 'here and now' by taking off!
@painthorselover101 he knows all that. My biggest fear would be that he would try to attack the dog and have so much fun in that that he forgets the rest. You might be interested in my blog which describes him from foal till now - see blog.nerdette.org and choose 'muratah'. He's one of a kind :)
@lastampa2006 Hardly. One minute a horse can be completly sane, the next, they can be almost wild again. Shows how much you know bout these amazing creatures.
@XerinnbieberrX This was a safe environment. I've been out and about with him almost every day so I know what he knows and he knows what I do. He's keen to see whats' around him but never leaves his mom. On top of that he knows so many "external factors" which didn't even bother him anymore at that age (trucks, harleys, plastic bags, dogs). Only prob we had was that he loved chasing joggers and bikes on the hills up there and often was away for quite a few minutes before he came back ;)
hes adorable !!!

You need a lead on this horse! What if he bolted to the right and took off?
bluejaysmiles 2 years ago
No worries, this foal won't run away from his mom. Why should he take off?
lastampa2006 2 years ago
@lastampa2006 because he's a horse and horses are unpredictable! duh!
painthorselover101 1 year ago
@painthorselover101 horses are more predictable than humans, because they can only think and act 'here and now' :)
