I guess if you're part of a community who is fairly used to being shat on you'd get pretty defensive regardless of the meaning behind what you said. I think some feel they need to justify their sexuality because so many others can't understand why they are who they are. They're just highly reactant to certain comments.

The funny thing about it, is there really is no way to know. All it is, is a preference right? Well my favourite color is red, I don't know if that's my choice or it's part of my genetics but either way there shouldn't be a problem with me liking red.
