The FJ is limited as it is stock due to its IFS but it is still a capable off road machine. The jeep has a wide range of aftermarket parts and you have many different routes you can take to make it a true beast off road. The FJ only has really one option that i know of and that is Chaos fabrications IFS kit. the thing that is a problem with running a IFS hard is the front dif but Toyota has done a pretty good job compared to past IFS models. ive seen Jeeps and FJs get stuck in less.

how can someone compare a Honda to a Jeep. ok on another note please do not listen to consumer reports. They factor in to many things such as ride quality and MPG to truelly determine what a good offroad machine is. On that note .. I believe both the Jeep and the FJ have good offroad capabilities. This being said by someone who has driven both vehicles off road many times while out with the friends (I personally own 2 modified pre 90 4Runners).

I love the FJ except for the newer ones do not have a full locker like the old ones did, and it needs better fuel economy.

Highway & city wise the FJs i test drove ate more gas than my 2008 sierra 2500HD diesel pickup, or my old dodge dakota v6.
